Popular Post chisag
... The opening of the MGS Review of the Toulon Custom putters really hit home for me and this is a perfect spot for describing what I do for a living. "One of my favorite memes these days is the “Expectation vs. Reality†meme. Just Google that phrase and you will see what I'm talking about. Basically, it's that difference between what a Big Mac looks like in advertising photos, and what one looks like when you unwrap one in person. Rarely does the actual experience or product live up to the expectation."... Having done commercials for exactly that kind of product I thought I would share the experience. In the biz it is called "Bite and Smile" when you take a bite of this amazing product and bust into a satisfied smile because it is just soooooo good. While it seems like nothing, I can assure you this takes acting of the highest caliber. I was doing one of these for the latest Hardee's burger. To start, they have about 25 of these on a tray put together by a food specialist making sure everything looks perfect, and they make more as the day goes on. It is sprayed with Glycerin to make it look shiny and delicious, but not so much of either when you are eating it. They cut out the back end so you just get a mouthful of bread as they don't want food sticking out of your mouth or having to take too big of a bite. Oh yea, they are stone cold and often refrigerated. Now the good part... ... There is a big garbage pan beside you and after biting into the "burger" and chewing with delight and smiling, the director yells "CUT!" and you spit out what is in your mouth into the garbage can because you would get sick eating the product after many takes. And after several takes it was obvious these particular buns produced too many crumbs, visible on my lips. So they decided to dip my end into cold water and turning it into cold mush. I had to hold it at the perfect angle so the rear water logged side was not visible to the camera. Getting the lights and camera angles just right, the bite perfect to the eye of the client as well as the chewing and smiling takes a lot of time and many, many takes. I will remember the Hardee's shoot forever because it took almost 8 hours and 99 takes as the director thought 100 would be too many LOL!?! My garbage can was filled with wet chewed dough I had spit out after every take and the studio was very hot under the intense lights and it began to smell after about 4 hours. It was difficult not to gag on a few takes. Magic huh? Unfortunately I was pretty good at it and did Uncle Bens rice, Cranberry Juice Cocktail, Hardee's and McDonalds breakfast biscuits and two Burger chains that never made it to TV. That said, national network commercials do pay very well. ... So the next time you see someone on a commercial taking a bite out of anything and seeming like it is the best thing they have ever tasted, just remember this little story and picture that big garbage can right next to them. Showbiz is not as glamorous as many think. yungkory, ED13, JohnSmalls and 8 others 11 Quote Driver: Qi10 10.5* ... Ventus Red Velocore 5R Fairway: Qi10 5 wood ... Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy I had to call customer service yesterday to make changes to our TV package. The woman was perfectly polite and handled my request nicely, but near the end she told me she needed to put me on hold for just a couple more minutes to finalize things. I'm guessing she really wanted to extend the call so she didn't have to take another one just yet, because she forgot to put me on hold or mute her mic and I could hear her conversation with a coworker about potty training her kid. I thought it was kind of funny and she was embarrassed when I told her she forgot to mute herself. That is a fantastic example of what I hear and then get to train/coach depending on the severity of the situation. I think my worst call so far is one where the caller informed the us that he was late getting documents taken care of because his wife had a heart-attack, and the response from our end was to ask if anyone was aware that the wife had a heart attack. I was fortunate enough to follow up with our employee and have an intense conversation regarding the need to deploy empathy as well as activate some brain cells.
