I am 41 years old and still serving in the US Navy been in for 17 years as an Electronics Technician. 3 more years till I can make a new career. That's pretty scary to think about.

Thanks for your continuing service to our country GG! I believe the Navy & Marines have the best electronics programs out there (though I'm slightly biased...) and my electronics training has served me very well since getting out way back in the late 80's. You should do just fine after retirement despite being a "squid"... :P  :P  :P

High School Golf Coach and Teacher.

Gave up an assistant pro job in the 90's thinking I couldn't live on the money (jokes on me - teacher salary isn't buying any Jaguars that actually start)

So - it is really neat to get to work with players of all ability levels and see them improve.

Enjoy it and kids are showing good on methods used.  Who knows, might work my way into coaching golf privately one of these years.

I just changed positions in the same company I have been working at for 20 years.

Last 10 years I have been the sales manager, I accepted the manufacturing manager position.

No more long plane rides, or being gone for weeks at a time.

Congratulations

I spent way too many weeks away from home when my kids were growing up. Last 5 years B4 retirement only went out on the Road a few times.

Again, enjoy it

35 I'm on year twelve of my teaching career in high school. Like Badams69, my teacher salary isn't exactly what I need it to be. I work in a top 100 golf shop from February to August and have done that the past 4 years.

Retired Army pilot..then retired civilian pilot...then retired small business owner (technology).  Now I find that being retired means that I can work at the local golf course part time.  It also means that I can play and practice golf as much as I have always wanted to.  It has resulted in my handicap dropping to a very nice (for me) level and my game is just about where I would like for it to be.  As for being retired..I find that working 12-20 hours a week is just enough to keep me interested in what is going on in the community and the golf course, but not enough to make me want to retire completely.  I guess that I would say that I am just about where I want to be at the ripe old age of 68.

I'm a Navy EOD Technician. Basically the bomb squad of the Navy. Been overseas multiple times; sometimes on a SEAL Team, sometimes on a small dive team. Hopefully I've brought more good men home than I've put bad guys in the ground.

I run the IED Division of training now at the Department of Defenses bomb school. Plan on retiring soon and playing a bunch of golf if my broken-down body allows it! Many many thanks to all of my brothers here who serve our great nation; whether that's military, police, fire, ER, or teaching our next generation.

Good for you, seauxrite!

I'm sure that you've earned it.

A  five at 68?

My jealousy is no obstacle to my being happy for you at the same time.

A five still working on being a 4..maybe a 3 if I can get my new wedges under control..lol.  Shot 74 today at Pueblo Del Sol in Sierra Vista, AZ.  Nice course and great greens.

I truly loved your post because you are where I want to be at the ripe old age of 70 and it gives me hope.   Come January 1, I will be fully retired and you mirror my hopes or at least my plan.  I just can't stay home and watch Jerry Spinger.    I congratulate you and wish me luck.

Good on you.  I understand the not being able to stay home and watch TV.  The golf course gives me a place to go, daily exercise and an excuse to drink an adult beverage with "the boys" afterward.  Have fun, enjoy those days when the golf gods give you good bounces and understand that there will be days when it just doesn't seem to work.  Keep us posted on how the plan plays out!!

I’m 62 been retired almost 9 years now. Was the coordinating supervisor in the water works industry for ever. They did a restructure and decided to oust a few of us oldtimers with the “golden handshake” because we made too much in salaries/ benefits and retirements. I was very lucky and blessed in how things worked out for me. Wife’s an acct at a fancy city that keeps us in a great medical insurance system, so again, lucky and blessed.

now my life’s goal is to shoot my age someday somehow...

Retired after 30 years with Boeing Research & Development.  The vast majority of this spent in materials & process development. I worked on all but the 707 and 727 commercial programs and traveled quite a bit.  This April will mark 3 years since retiring and I'm amazed just how quickly time does fly by.
