The beer leagues are always good fun. For the first time in years I am actually playing this season and its on a fun team.
There are lots of different refrigeration systems and lots of them are getting more eco friendly which is cool. Most are ammonia based systems that cool brine (basically a dense salt water for those who don't know) which goes through pipes in the concrete and takes heat away (yes that is different then cooling things down haha).
Water is really important for us as we spray water called pebbling (see picture above post) which creates little water droplets on the ice so it isn't smooth. If the water is bad it is soft and will break down quickly and then conditions change so we use different systems to purify the water. These "pebbles" allow the stones to curl and slide along the ice with greater ease.
1693882408_Screenshot2021-06-0319_25_14.png.c72311d27f887389522905cf9d07f345.png
Quick facts for curling ice- Lanes are called Sheets of ice
- Stones weight 42 lbs and cost about $600 per stone.
- Most curling ice (white base and rings) are painted.
- Lines are done by using yarn!
It is really cool because its very much a art and a science. There are so many different factors and ways to get the proper result and each building and day often offers a unique and new challenge.

Growing up playing hockey this is really cool and my local rink does cutting where they mentioned the ice drops which I never new. I have tried it once and let me tell you just getting the some to the other end is not the easiest. Thanks for sharing.

Until last year I never knew you could get a heated steering wheel.  What a luxury!!!  Love that thing!  I’ll never do without it again.

Thanks for making them better every year!

I am 29 years old and I try to count my blessings everyday that I am able to provide for my family. More importantly that My Wife is able to stay home with our girls and am able to send them to a good school, I couldn't have asked for anyone better to raise our kids together.

If anyone would've told me 10ish years ago where I am now... It would've boggled my mind.

Nice!!

I love my seat heater, cooled seat, steering wheel heater, and heated/cooled cup holders.  I first had a seat heater in my 2003 Ford Explorer Sport Trac.  I wasn't going to get another vehicle without it.  I still have it actually.

I bought a 2014 Dodge Charger R/T with the heated steering wheel, and now I won't do without that... unless I move to AZ.  😂  It's great on the cold mornings.  The cooling seat just kicked in this week with the 100º+ temps; feels good!  The heated/cooled cup holders are OK, but they don't make much of a difference before the drink is gone.

I'm in Sales, but more specifically sales to greenhouses (I deal mostly with vegetable greenhouses).  It gets me traveling (although haven't traveled since COVID).  I travel a lot to the Vancouver area, Southern California and Arizona.  The years leading up to COVID had me going to Europe once or twice a year (UK, and middle Europe).

I'm working as a chemical engineer in technical research and development for a manufacturer of citrus processing equipment. The hilarious part of this job is that I was found through a recruiter for the job in California while I was living in Florida. The company's headquarters are not only in Florida, they were 3 miles from our old house. I had no idea that the company was so close when I was going through the initial process as I knew the job would require a relocation.

It's strange to be the only person in my department that isn't in the main office, but at the same time it gives me a little more freedom with my schedule. My department did lose 3 people in the past month (one lay off and two promoted to another department), so who knows what could happen in the future.

I really appreciate all the encouragement everybody. I am still getting everything in order regarding unemployment and my resume has been sent out with more to come. Thankfully, My Dad and both brothers also work in the Automotive industry so I have some leads. Hoping to hear something within the next week but I also cannot put all my eggs in one basket.

I am pretty nervous about being on the job hunt again, and starting from scratch. I was hoping that I would have been able to stay at the company previous for a very long time as the pay and benefits enabled me to support my family as well as spend a lot of time with them. I had four weeks of vacation as I had been there direct 5+ years and was working 40hrs a week, which is not typical for my line of work (Its more like 50+hrs).

I am hoping I can get something as close to the same amount of pay and weekly hours as possible, but the most important things are that the sky didn't fall and there are opportunities available. I am trying my best to not stress about things I cannot change and while I have good and bad days, I still thank the Lord for everything I have every time I put my hands together.

👍 pretty certain that once businesses open up and employees are required to return to their facilities, there may be numerous openings in the automotive sector, as many have had the past 18 months not really working from home while getting paid, and we hear rumblings about many making choices not to return to their respective employers.........

hope that it all works out for you much sooner than later, and keep your great attitude and outlook 🚗

@MyWifesSwingCoach you probably already know this but networking is the way to find the good jobs that aren't listed anywhere.  So start reaching out to friends, colleagues and have conversations with them and let them know you're in the market, etc.  Works wonders, not quick but lead me to a great job some years ago.

I’m a Trauma Nurse at a Level One trauma center in Jacksonville, Florida. Lots of those stories I’ve been seeing people say they have though mine probably involve more blood and guts 😂 I like that I only have to work three days. Leaves lots of time for golf and hunting. What else would a man need. Maybe some time with my wife too… 29 years old.

To @GolfSpy_APH I am trying my best to come up with something creative and all I’ve got is “I teach and supervise grown adults while they drive big trucks, break glass and hold your sick relatives hands.”

On 8/9 I was promoted to Lieutenant for the FD where I work.

  • Titleist TSi3 Fujikura Speeder NX Blue 60X
  • TaylorMade SIM2 3 wood Fujilkura Ventus Blue 7-X
  • Titleist U505 2 Tensei 1K Black 85 X
  • Titleist T100 4-P Nippon Modus 3 120X
  • PING S159 50-S 55-H 59-T DG X100
  • Vokey SM8 50, SM9 54 & 60  Nippon Modus 3 120s
  • L.A.B. MEZZ Max Broom Accra 47" 79.5*
  • Srixon Z-Star XV

Currently testing the 2024 PING S159 wedges…

Was testing, still loving the 2023 Titleist T100 Irons 4-P

I work in operations at a liberal University and have to deal with all the people that have a PHD - Physically Handicapped Dumbazz. The good thing is I only have a few more days, retiring August 31st.

Congratulations!!  It’s going to take about a year to get normal, that’s how long it took for me after retirement.
