I’m going to have to consult my Gkids on how to do this stuff. I think I may have to fly the 17 year old down here for help
Nice job

I think that might be the way to go. I couldn't video edit my way out of a wet paper bag.

We visited the family’s in September and Gkids (17, 15, 14 & 13) were doing computer stuff I never heard of.

Trust me, I am NOT a tech guy at all.  I was watching the Bears game today and just started playing with my phone.  If you have the iMovie it is pretty easy.

I checked and have iMovie. The only reason we have iPhones is our Gkids also have them and we can FaceTime each other (like today).
SWMO and I have some final testing next week, G410’s are .......

Heading to a PING Demo this morning and will check.  I'm testing the Crossovers, Hybrids, and 5w... so a price break on any would, presuming one fills the gap, be welcomed.

Wow. Woods?! Hmm. Could it be just a Max replacement? Irons, maybe iBlade replacements? Those would be my guess.

No new driver. 410 plus and lst will remain drivers through most if not all of 2020.
Really nothing new on the horizon from Ping. Might hear about some new sgi irons around the pga show, but nothing else announced til late spring at the absolute earliest

That makes sense.

The only new club coming that they have told dealers about is the G710 irons for s launch in January.

Any mention of a driver is just someone guessing.   A new driver less than a year after the last one would be completely unprecedented for them.

This Second part of course is just my thought. Not coming from PING directly.

Ping, to my memory is one of the more stable OEM’s, sticking to a new entry cycle schedule.

Yep. PING lately has had some releases at 18 months from the previous iteration.

Titleist, Mizuno and Srixon are all pretty steady at 24 months for each model.

With the exception of the driver vs driver products, Wilson sticks to a pretty steady two year cycle as well

Interesting that the major OEM's all tend to all follow a similar cycle.  Undoubtedly much of this is based on ROI business models for these products -- but when they have what they believe is a "game changer", it must be hard to hold back.

Ping is typically a 2 year release cycle. The next iron up should be the i410? Or whatever is intended to replace the i500 released for 2018.

Had the G410s out for another range session this morning. Took them to the member clinic and today’s lesson could not have been more perfect for the test....”Working the Ball”
Went through setup and awing for straight, then fade, then draw. I struggle with the intentional fade as it is but here’s what I saw with the G410s.
Straight shots went mostly straight. My fade shots looked more like a push, but I didn’t really get many solid strikes on the fares to measure by. My draw shots were okay, but again, I wasn’t striking solid on every swing. The setup adjustment with the club face was throwing me off a bit.
My assessment based on this morning and on course performance so far is that the G410 irons maintain a fair bit of workability for a GI design. Whether intentional or by mistake if your face to path relationship result should be a draw or fade that is what you’ll get. Same for a hook/slice swing. The small curve shots do look like they are trying to resist but they still draw or fade.

I've had a question related to this to be posed to the testers: how are these at manipulating the ball? High/low, draws/fades, etc. I know these are designed to go straight, high and far but golf , as we all know, is seldom as simple as that. My i500's can be worked but a draw is easier than a fade for me. I can fade it but if I need a big fade, it requires a pretty exaggerated setup/move on my part. What are the testers finding? Also, for those who miss on the toe, what kind of yardage drop are you seeing?

In reference to Ping's equipment cycle, we should see replacements for the i210/i500 this year, right?

Great job everyone - I have enjoyed following along. I have had a busy fall, so I haven't posted much but I have been lurking 🙂

Great job everyone - I have enjoyed following along. I have had a busy fall, so I haven't posted much but I have been lurking 🙂

@ballplayer002003 - Your video work is impressive!

First off, thank you, but anyone with an iPhone can do it.  I am having a hard time flighting the ball down.  I have to REALLY work hard at doing this and when I do pull it off successfully, the ball flight tends to be of what I would expect a MID ball flight to be.  As far as hitting draws and fades, again, has to be pretty aggressive with the club to get it to move a bit.  I am not a huge mover of the ball but can do it when needed, and I was having trouble doing it with these.  Obviously, my Mizuno's are much easier to do this with.  Lastly, and one of the most impressive things for me, was toe/heel strikes.  I don't lose much distance at all!!!!!  Maybe...maybe 10 yards tops.  I will post video reviews tomorrow and hope it answers some of your questions in better detail.

Thanks trb! As a + handicap, you are probably already a better or more capable 'worker' of the ball than most of the test group. Based on what I saw at the clinic lesson and what I've seen on the course, the ball will curve the way the face to swing path relationship says it should.

I did notice that adjusting the club face at setup for the draw/fade with this club head design made for a more awkward look standing over the shot. If you tend to work the ball more with setup that would be a factor than if you work the ball more with hand action and timing of the release.

I would also think comparing these to the i500 you would see A LOT more offset in the long irons and the short irons might initially look a little bulky. That has been my experience moving to these from the Hogan PTx. Compared to the Mizunos, the striking area was essentially the same, the G410s just have noticeably more club outside the grooves. The top line isn't so much thicker as to be distracting and it does cover up the cavity back and wider sole at address.

Well, I've had a lot of iterations of iPhone and I've never produced anything close so perhaps you are being a bit modest 😂🤣

Great answer to all my questions and I look forward to seeing your video reviews. Couple follow-up questions: what is your standard shot? (Shape/flight) Is there a type of shot you tend to need to be able to hit that deviates from your typical shot? If so, what is it and are you finding it difficult? (In other words, if your standard shot is a high draw, do you find yourself needing to flight the ball down due to course conditions?)

That is quite impressive about the toe strike - most people I play with tend to miss on the toe due to being over-the-top from one degree or another. I really like the looks of these and I have several players I could recommend them too. Being able to flight the ball down is an absolute must here in Oklahoma so that is certainly something to consider. Thanks!

Thanks for a thorough response! You are right - the ball will move, with varying degrees of success, based on the swing path/face angle/ball position relationship. I really appreciate your take about the awkwardness of the visual and the challenges associated - that's exactly the stuff a tester can provide!

To your question on ball movement. First in the Testing I had to overcome the 4’ difference in Lie Angle which provided a challenge in just hitting the ball. It drive me nuts that a big mistake was made but the opposite is true. Moving Lie Angle was correct.
Overcoming that problem ball fight is getting better all the time with decent ball strikes in club face is improving.
I was never a big mover of the ball little draw occasionally and slight fade predominant flight.
The G410 for me are dead a$$ straight, 5 thru 7 slight fade and 8 thru PW baby draw.
Hitting low ball stingers easy to do, big fades-draws on demand not easy for me to do with these clubs. They like to go straight.

I didn’t realize we had Steven Spielberg as a Tester That was freaking awesome.
