It's the subscription that ultimately turned me off to Arccos. I think it's probably "best of breed," but I also didn't want to wait for Link to be ready.

The thing to get used to is tapping for pin location and if you hit am extra shot/putt, having to go back and fix that.

I hadn't considered the extra shot thing because GG Live required tagging so you didn't have to worry about it. On the flip side, I'm really excited for the PinCollect feature because GG Live had no such thing. It forced your to go back and correct pin locations post-round.

It's not a bad idea to push it up your wrist a bit anyway - I did that to help avoid the glove advancing the hole on accident.

I think if you bought the full retail version, you don't have to pay for the yearly subscription? I'm not entirely sure how that works.

now that looks like something I could wear... similar size to the current 40mm apple watch.  nice!

But now I have the Arccos Sensors from Ping, so it would have to be really impressive yo get those out of the bag.

If Shot scope is subscriptionless I think they will get a lot of Arccos users to convert. Arccos is going 100% subscription now, and people with the sub-less Caddie sensors are going to be up the creek if they ever break. $99/year isn't too hard for me to justify since I can golf year-round, but if I lived somewhere where courses close? A little harder to swallow that pill

true,  Not sure if they meant to or not, but the ones they sent out with the PING promotion are the same as their regular retail ones, so I won't have the $99 per year, but yeah once they break and go out of stock I would investigate other options Id pay 150-250 upfront to not have subscription fees of $99.  Expecting to get 3-5 years out of it.  I dislike how everything is going to subscriptions as a consumer... but as someone who works as a subscription revenue analyst... I see the value of it.

You sure those aren't just a free trial of Caddie? I thought that's what I read in the forum thread earlier this year, and everyone was e-mailing Arccos to delay their free trial since it came out right before the season was about to close.

When you first set them up I tried the standard “arccos sensors” option since they looked exactly like the retail ones... now if I go under the manage subscription option I see this:



I guess that could change... I’ll have to wait and see this spring.

Nice!!! Hopefully it's not a bait, haha. I agree though, subscriptions as a consumer suck, but I'll pay them if they give me physical product updates for free (if a new sensor type comes out), and replace the sensors if they break. I'm hoping my Caddie sensors last me a few more years, but I wouldn't be surprised if they're designed with only a 2-year lifespan in mind.

Yeah, if I’m subscribing I want free replacement on the hardware If needed and need to see constant improvement in the software, then I can see real value as a consumer.

As much as I love Arccos, it'll be interesting to see how all of this turns out between them and ShotScope.  A subscription model gives all of us subscriptionless users a strong incentive to look around when we're finally forced to switch.

I'm still torn between the two - I have Arccos in right now - it's stupid easy to use and I've had no real issues plus I don't like wearing a watch and don't mind carrying the phone.  There is data that shotlink records that I prefer.

It was. Too bad GG is so terrible now. I'm happy with Arccos now though and can't wait for the Link to be available.

I received Arccos as an xmas gift and have been waiting for the spring to finally get out there and test it out.....To my pleasant surprise, and some 50 degree weather last week, I was finally able to pair my sensors and get out there on the course. I don't mind the phone in the front pocket as much as I thought I would (iPhone 8 Plus) and it does come in handy using the 'rangefinder' mapping when planning my shots from the tee box.

I for approach shots and closer to the green, I have a Series 5 apple watch that gives front, back and center along with the 'plays like' distances side by side so I keep the phone in my pocket. The only thing I had to remember was to finish off any putts from gimme range or just add a putt on the watch if I forgot.

All in all a good first time out with the Arccos and spent some more time once I got home looking at all of the data. Can't wait until I have enough rounds for the Caddie to kick in!!

I would suggest you get in the habit of paying attention to actual versus Arccos pin positions as putt lengths play a big factor in your putting handicap. Although I like Arccos, their "AI" determination of pin position is terrible. I think I haven't needed to edit the pin placement about twice. I would actually be very OK with them adding a "pin locate" button to the app like ShotScope has on their watch.

Any tips for getting ShotScope to reliably pick up chip shots around the green? Played my first round today with my new ShotScope v2 and it missed nearly every shot around the green. I was sure to take a few small practice swings before I hit my actual shot.

They did add a "Set Pin Location" button to the app, as well as a Siri action to do it without touching your phone. I haven't set Siri up on the iPhone, so I haven't used that.  The "Set Pin Location" feature works just fine, though.
