fixyurdivot
I received an email today "Congratulations Bill, you've been selected for the opportunity to purchase tickets"... . It states that on 10/14 I will receive an email with an access code. On 10/16 I enter a "ticket lobby", then an hour later get "added to the virtual line", then "when it's my turn, purchase event tickets". I cannot recall if I submitted something a while ago adding my name to a ticket lottery - guess I must have. Anyone else receive this email and plan on going? It’s a bummer that they would solicit requests to purchase tickets then grant permission to all applicants. fixyurdivot
I had a feeling this was not all it was cracked up to be; that is I'm one of multitudes receiving the notice. So after receiving the email, I started looking at places to stay in and around Kohler, WI... umm, I would strongly suggest you research that before buying tickets. Based on my initial look, I'm likely watching it on TV . bens197 1 Quote G410 Plus, 9 Degree Driver G400 SFT, 16 Degree 3w G400 SFT, 19 Degree 5w ZX5 Irons 4-AW Glide 2.0 56 Degree SW (removed from double secret probation ) ER5v Putter (Evnroll ER5v Official Review) AI-One Milled Seven T CH (Currently Under Product Test)

If you're not on the fairways, there is basically no good ground to walk on everything else is either dunes or waste bunkers. I'd try to find a set of bleachers where you could see multiple holes and camp out there. bens197 1 Quote G430 Max 10K TSiR1 15.0 Aldlia Ascent 60g TSR2 18.0 PX Aldila Ascent 6og TSi1 20 Aldila Ascent Shafts R T350 5-GW SteelFiber I80 SM10 48F/54M and58K S159 48S/52S/56W/60B Select 5.5 Flowback 35" ProV1 Play number

One other thing we discussed was do we spend the money to go to the a Ryder cup or do we wait a little and spend the same to actually play it. I’m leaning towards the latter. I mean I know it's going to be a phenomenal scene, you've got he WI fans who are some of the best sports fans in the country, and the team should be stacked with great players. No doubt some incredible golf, and while I'd love to be there for the atmosphere, I think I'd enjoy it more on TV. I would possibly consider what I used to do for US Opens, go Wednesday through Friday, then fly home Saturday morning to watch on TV. I honestly don't think you can't go wrong with either choice you decide on. It is a bucket list course that if you can swing the chance to play it, you absolutely should. It's an experience that may only be exceeded by Augusta and Brandon in the US. That comes from someone I know who has played every top 100 course in the US multiple times. bens197 1 Quote G430 Max 10K TSiR1 15.0 Aldlia Ascent 60g TSR2 18.0 PX Aldila Ascent 6og TSi1 20 Aldila Ascent Shafts R T350 5-GW SteelFiber I80 SM10 48F/54M and58K S159 48S/52S/56W/60B Select 5.5 Flowback 35" ProV1 Play number

Interesting and thanks for the insights. This sounds much like my experience at Chambers Bay. Spectator access to a healthy portion of the course is very limiting. Perhaps that might be improved if they hold another major there, but it wasn't great in 2016 - resulting in overcrowded areas/grandstands. Much as I'd love to attend a Ryder Cup, I think I'll pass on this one . Much as I'd love to attend a Ryder Cup, I think I'll pass on this one . Yeah, it's a tough call. I think it's truly a special place and will be one of the more memorable US hosted Ryder Cups in many years, but yes tough logistics. I should ammend my statement about walking around. There are some very well hidden cart paths that run through the Straits course, they are used for transporting people out for shotgun starts and all. I'm sure that's what most of the spectator traffic will use for navigating the course, but you literally can not see any of the holes from there, they are on the other side of all the mounds/dunes. If I lived closer it would definitely be a tough decision for me not to go. But I think the viewing on TV will be just as good. fixyurdivot and bens197 2 Quote G430 Max 10K TSiR1 15.0 Aldlia Ascent 60g TSR2 18.0 PX Aldila Ascent 6og TSi1 20 Aldila Ascent Shafts R T350 5-GW SteelFiber I80 SM10 48F/54M and58K S159 48S/52S/56W/60B Select 5.5 Flowback 35" ProV1 Play number

Straits is my favorite place we have attended PGA or USGA events.. excellent spectator venue in my opinion if you are a reasonably able bodied person. Lots of small hills and knolls to get a good vantage point... but the course is rather spread out so expect a LOT of walking.. bring good shoes... golf shoes preferred if you have them. Always fun to watch the unprepared ladies all dressed up in 6" heels and skirts trying to climb up a hill to get a better view.. lol..
