Sako
Curious - how can the Golf Ball Testing that was performed in April show results different for the Z Star and the Z Star (yellow)? I would expect the same results, but not the case. heribertomaya and GolfSpy MPR
GolfSpy MPR
That's a good question. While I can't speak to specifics on the Srixon balls, it is my understanding that the introduction of pigment into a ball cover (whether in the cover material itself or the paint or however it's done) does mean that the properties of the ball are subject to change. This would be why Titleist only came out with a yellow ProV1 this year; they said it took them this long to get a yellow cover on the ProV that didn't affect its performance characteristics. MGS's article on the release of the yellow ProV1 has a whole section on the chemistry problems introduced by the yellow ball. Given that, I don't think it's totally shocking that there are subtle differences between the white and yellow Srixons. sirchunksalot, pkgavin, JohnSmalls and 1 other 4 Quote TS3 9.5°, Tensei Blue CBX T3 15°, Project X HZRDUS Black Epic Super Hybrid 18°, Aerotech Steel Fiber FC HYB S C722 21°, Ventus Blue 8S CBX Iron-Wood 25°, Project X HZRDUS Black 6.0 639 CB, Aldila NV 95 Graphite, 6–PW CBX 48° T22 54° and 60° EAS 4.0, Garsen G-Pro grip TP5x and Tour Response Full WITB with pictures
madi05
It's weird but I think the yellow zstar plays better for me than the White, more distance as wellSent from my Mi 9 SE using Tapatalk
jbsdaddy
I was playing the Q Star ball earlier in the year and had both white and yellow examples of the ball. the yellow felt different to me thatn the white, and I preferred the feel of the white. Don't know what makes them different. gualandi99
I can't bring myself to play a colored golf ball, the closest i can go is the truvis pattern and even then i prefer white still. I am sure it is all mental but White is still what a golf ball should be.
