I explained it earlier in the thread but for what he's going for, a higher body fat percentage is needed. The core is pretty crucial to the golf swing so his midsection is going to be bulky. It's not a Dadbod. It's a power gut. The term comes from Olympic lifters and Strongman competitors.

Dad bod? A little flab in the midsection? Um wut? 99.5% of the posters on golf websites would love to have an athletic build like Bryson. Guys like DJ and Rory are built lean, Bryson is built more barrel chested with a bigger core, and Tiger and Brooks are somewhere in between. Sometimes you want to bulk and you get more thick than lean and that can be due to diet, exercise or the biggest factor of them all: your DNA.

My goodness, some folks will nitpick athletes/celebrities to death online.

Say what you want about the new Bryson but on a 389yd hole today, he cut the corner and was greenside. Saw carries of 359 and 361 on back to back drives.

So I’ve just finished reading this entire silly thread. Favorite line was “power gut”, that’s what I’ve got...

what nobody mentions, is that his entire regime to get bigger and badder, is all because Brooks basically told him to shut his mouth or “I’ll beat you up because you’re a weakling and I’m a workout warrior “ (not a quote!) Brooks shamed him in front of the whole world. Bryson took a mental note and said to himself... that will never happen again...

Not why he’s gotten bigger and stronger. He was one of the shorter hitters on tour and wanted to be the longest driver in tour and now he is demonstrating that on a weekly basis and has people like rory impressed with his distance
