I Need Investors

Now that I can't play, I've decided that I'd like to become a major golf OEM instead.

These are the specs for the the Nifty Niblick Golf Company's first set.

Think of it as a return to sanity.

Do you think the late, great Fidel (my avatar) would make a good company logo?

What’s the rest of the specs? Blade height, length, and COG location?

Reverse muscle? CB?

Something along the lines of the Epon AF-901 driving iron, Callaway Apex Pro 19 irons, and Cleveland CBX2 wedges (but with lower bounce on the 58). Standard shaft would be the Penley Executive Player. Standard grip would be Tour Wrap 2G.

I'd have to double up on my Prozac not being able to play them myself.

I don't know how I could do worse than some of the existing OEMs.

Wilson is the sole survivor of the once Big Three (MacGregor, Spalding, and Wilson).

I have to wonder how they're holding on.

Out of curiosity only, I went onto their website to check out their Wilson Staff utility driving / long irons.

They offer customization.  You can order them long or short in small increments.

You can order them flat or upright in small increments.

But before you decide that you want them a half-inch long or a degree or two flat, don't you have to know what the standard specs are?

Those aren't listed.

If they're that dumb, they don't deserve to survive.

Would you say intelligence should be similarly considered, as it relates to whether an entrepreneurial endeavor deserves inception?

To answer your original question - I think Fidel would make a great company logo, but the typical tenor of your musings has me leaning toward Eeyore as the most befitting brand ambassador.

Company Press Release (somewhere perpetually overcast in New England): Moody Golf Clubs USA despondently presents the Eeyore lineup with S.A.D. (Sorrowful And Depressing) tech. Now available nowhere, as our founder is uniquely forsaken by the nominal passage of time. Mail us a Western Union money order today and at some point we’ll deliver your clubs in the trunk of a ‘73 Cadillac Eldorado hardtop... because convertibles are for optimists.

So what gets stamped on the bottom of the club?  The name?  What size font would you have to use for it to fit?  Would milling that much out of the sole of the club throw off the swingweight?

If you propose putting the loft of the club on the sole,  The Ben Hogan Company already realized that was a bad idea and have iron numbers again.  Going back to lofts would be a return to insanity.

well I would bite but one problem---- I be broke as a convict------- I know a lot of folks run down Bob Parsons at PXG but he did make zillions with Go Daddy and stated in the beginning that he wanted to build golf clubs his way and did not care if he made money or not--- So yeah if I had disposable income I would be right on board and my forging house would be in the good old USA. Besides who needs a yacht with gold plated fixtures? Now forged bare balls rusty irons made in the USA that is where it is at. And while we are at it team with Louisville Golf to make our real persimmon woods. Bag line we could get Jones or Elliott to custom make out bags--- And BTW Jones and Elliott are both USA companies Portland Oregon and Charleston SC respectively------- Going to play the lottery tonight

Believe it or not, National Custom Works will NOT build whatever you want.

I corresponded with Ari, the guy from the old Scratch company, who at least was with NCW if he's not now.

He refused to furnish seriously non-conforming box grooves.

The Iron Factory was willing to machine them,  though.
