I realied on sprinkler heads and other golfers for distance and just plain dead reconning. I just wanted the distance to the front of the green as I shoot for the center of said green 90 percent of the time. I believe that technology in golf is a great thing for the newbies and average golfer alike. Knowing distance is important information that will help to lower your score. I typically find my yardage mark on sprinkler heads and paced off if course doesn’t have cart gps. After accounting for other variables such as wind and elevation, by guessing or tossing up some grass, I select my club and proceed.

Every new advancement in technology in the game of golf I see as a positive. The game is challenging enough, so anything to save a stroke or two by having the most information available to the player, so they can make the best possible decision only makes sense.

i used gps devices before and now use a gps watch , easy of use is important.

Technology is great to help us in golf , but only where it does not slow down play.

I know most yardages at my home course and when I play away I use sprinkler heads, or similar markers, in-cart gps if they have it, or sometime a yardage book (preferred) if available. 

I think this kind of technology is fine, but I am not a fan of high tech ball striking equipment, such as adjustable drivers and developments that make shots longer and or straighter.  I also don’t have much use for launch monitors - give me a grass driving range with clearly marked yardage targets any day.

I use a Leupold GX3i which has been very reliable and accurate though not many features.  I all about technology and I am never without it.  It’s extremely valuable to establish a good measurement for our club distances to make us more accurate and better golfers.  Guessing distances is a good way to mess with your game.

I already have 2 devices. One is a bushnell watch which is primarily used. My other is a golf buddy range finder, which is backup (I tend to forget to charge watch) or on par 3’s or where certain hazards come into play. Also most of my buddies also have devices. It would be interesting to see how close they are. 
as far as technology is concerned, It’s the user and the time taken.

I have been using a SkyCaddie SG-5 for a 7 years. I download and update all the courses I play, both in Canada and the US. My winter home is in Goodyear AZ, and I summer in the Niagara Region of Ontario.

I am very interested because I plan to replace my SG-5 soon. We also have Garmin and Bushell watches that my wife wears.
