PlaidJacket
Well, since you axed us... I could care less about any of the so called Bucket-List courses. Been there - done with that. Like a comment above I'd be interested in so called Hidden-Gem type courses. There are way more of these types of courses that fly under the radar. And... in my own personal experience a lot of the so called bucket list courses are just over priced. Nice? Yes. Over-rated? Absolutely. So there ya go... Kenny B
Sounds like Golf Advisor Getaways with Matt Ginella. Are you taking a film crew? I like the @PlaidJacket suggestion. I like seeing the fancy bucket list courses, but I'm not likely to play them. I'm certain I won't be traveling to St. Andrews or Streamsong. Most MyGolfSpy members have a Hidden Gem course or two in their area, or some they know about, that can be played for under $100. Any package deals? I would love a list like that with MGS comments. That's on my bucket list and me and my brother almost went last year. And since everyone is talking about hidden gems, come on down and check out Kinderlou Forest down here in Valdosta. Best course you've never heard of or never played, that the folks at the major publications are too snooty to even consider. It's reasonable too, as even if you just walked up to play on your own on the weekend it's $75. But the guest fee during the week is $45. It's a steal of a deal and I love it. palvord
Northern Michigan courses would appeal to me, but that's purely selfish based on my location. Arcadia Bluffs, Crystal Downs, Greywalls, The Loop, or Drummond Island if you need ideas. I have heard that Wisconsin has some must visit courses like Lawsonia or Mammoth Dunes. Golfspy_CG2
Some good stuff already listed, such as Bandon. I would also add the Top of the Rock--I think that's what it's called. It's the resort in the Branson, MO area I think created and owned by the Billionaire who I believe started Bass Pro Shops. If I have any of that wrong, someone please correct me. Flog4
Given where you went this year. My guess is a trip over the pond and a place in US and throw in another to expand.Based on St Andrews was first...Ireland will be next. What part? The SW is standard so that's my call. The N is a tad better though. At least the Sheep Ranch is opening so that creates an overture that you are being slightly creative by going to Bandon. Bandon is a must sooner than later. As a one more place. Cedar Lodge. If you get there soon enough you might be able to be toward the in timing vs after the fact. For a slightly off beaten track, Sweetens Cove is a great option. But it's just 9 holes, but crazy good. Sand Valley is a must sooner than later. If you really want to one up most of the competition...Go to England. They are so bad at promoting themselves and yet have the best golf in all of the UK. Or at least equivalent to Scotland. A great hidden gem trip could be to Liverpool area with about 12 excellent courses within 20 miles. Another great hidden gem trip could be the SW of England. There are about 7 courses down that way which are quite nice. That's a trip that requires an expert driver. The roads are quite scary. DaveP043
I'll build on what @PlaidJacket has suggested, how about a tour of MGS members' home clubs. I imagine there are a few "touristy" areas where there's also a concentration of MGS members, and I'd bet that most of us would be happy to be host for a day.
