2020 MGS FANTASY GOLF LEAGUE

As Football draws to a close, we turn our fantasy sports attention to the PGA for the......

Official MyGolfSpy Fantasy Golf League 2020

@Berg Ryman and @Undershooter will serve alongside yours truly as the humble commissioner trifecta. The draft and many of the league details are still TBD but it's time to start capturing players. If you're interested (even if you're a returning player), please reply to this thread stating intent. New players, please send a PM to the commissioners with your email address. 

I looked into other platforms but I don't think they would give us any distinct advantage over Fantrax so we're going to stick with them for consistency sake. There's now a mobile app WITH notifications and more changes coming. Here's what details we have thus far: 

• Platform: Fantrax
• Format: TBD (most likely a version of H2H)
• Makeup: One, large conference with duplicate players instead of separate like last year
• Draft Date: TBD Jan
• 1st Event: Shooting for the Farmer's
• Playoff Format: Similar to last year with group; qty determined by league size
• League Size: as many people as we can stuff into the league

PRIZE: The coveted MyGolfSpy Golden Ticket

 

Looking forward to a great season this year guys. When you reply to this thread, please share any ideas for improvement or rule changes you'd like to submit for league vote. A big area of discussion last year was the structure for the majors to make them special.

Super curious about the "makeup" section. How can you do a draft with dupe players if everyone is in the same division or conference?

Oh, and as far as scoring, I know we debated on this last year, but I’d maybe like to see pars be worth less than 0.5 points.

So what we're thinking Bardle, is based on the amount of people in the league, allowing duplicates of players, like 3 or 4 Koepkas

Would LOVE LOVE LOVE an adjustment to the WD rules so that you don't lose points for a player if he doesn't finish a tournament.

Basically guys, we're trying for a hybrid of a DFS setup for lineups with a h2h schedule, or at least that's how I understand it

DFS      h2h    I'm not really familiar with this lingo but I'll read the rules and format when you guys set them up...looking forward to this season

DFS - Daily Fantasy Sports

H2H- Head to Head

So what DFS golf is that you pick a lineup and it can be any guys you fit under a budget. The way we've been doing it is like a draft for fantasy football or baseball with divisions and the like. This time, one league.

@bardle yes this. The thought is it should open up more trade possibilities with more dance partners for whatever player you want. I'm unsure if it'll allow you to have multiple of the same guy on your roster or if that'll cause a glitch in the matrix. 

One division also meshes better with the individual nature of golf and our playoff Format.

This will be unilaterally added once Fantrax makes it possible. They're looking into it now.

I don't think we're going to be able to pull off DFS this year because the platform that has it lacks in other areas. Just trying to find a system within the traditional formats that makes it interesting for golf. Last year was ok, but I think we can do better.

It'll probably be one draft with trades/waivers you're used to. The start limit worked well for circus league so that's something being entertained as an option to help shuffle rosters.
