40 is too cold

It’s currently 34 and I can’t wait to go play this morning. It won’t be super enjoyable but it is golf and I love it. The problem here is the moisture. 34 with 92% humidity doesn’t equal fun. But this time of year if you want to play you just deal with it. 2 layers on the bottom 3 on the top and 2 extra clubs. 58BBDAEE-A055-4F80-AC81-A323B4A08D44.gif.b7b94c204e9b36da34973f7a2a65867c.gif

Playing in bad weather makes me appreciate good weather more, but I sympathize with my brothers and sisters that just can't go when it's cold.

I used to think nothing was “too cold.” Now anything under 60 is a non starter for me. Unless it’s with Kenny and Foz. 🤨

I guess I'm still young enough because I'll play any chance my schedule allows (which isn't super often) even if it means teeing up in single digits. Heck, I've played while it's snowing on more than one occasion.

One of the things I love about playing in bad conditions is you've usually got the place to yourself. Great chance for extra shots and trying new things. I won't tolerate cold rain but warm rain is just fine too.

Yup, I was the same way. Played in snow & once sleet freezing rain for a couple holes. 40’ and under was not a problem but now I’m older and hopefully wiser.

Well you get use to it and now actually prefer Celsius... Zero being that freezing point (your 32) makes it simple as if there is a minus sign in front I'm not golfing if there is no minus sign just look for frost and I'm good to go... We all adapt eventually...

Today no golf... -7 (feels like -13) and snow covered... if I wasn't so sad I'd chuckle!!

Celsius makes it sound much colder. It's going to be 4*C here in northern Ohio and supposedly 10*C on Friday. I think I prefer 40*F and 50*F it just sounds better to me.

I have one rule: if the course is open and allowing play, I will be there. Temps don’t matter. I have deal with going to work all week, Saturday is golf no matter what the temps show.

40's too cold only if you live in warmer climates....when you live in colder zones, you're bar is lowered significantly.

My grandparents came from northern Finland, and I seem to have inherited the personal furnace that goes along with that.  I started playing golf at my 35th birthday, anything 40*F and up was good, and upper 30s was no problem if not too windy.

In summer, I'm that guy wearing shorts if the temp is 50* and up.  Mid 80s and up can be ugly for me.

I'm 56 now, and the furnace doesn't run as it once did.  I find those low 40s much less pleasant, to the point I may not bother trying to play.  I now even own a pair of golf mitts, wearing them in between shots when the temps are in that zipcode; they weren't on my mind 10 years ago.  Aging.

Mostly true. If you grew up in the north, then moved south. It doesn’t matter how cold it is. You will always go. I remember wanting to golf in January I’m Michigan a couple times. Now that I am in the south, I can, and I do.
