Well with the leaked photos I’ve seen of the SIM and MAVRIK this is what I’d rank the big three releases we’ve seen:

1. Cobra

2. Callaway

3. Taylormade

Ping and Titleist would probably slot in above Callaway with the G410 and TS line if I included them.

I’m holding out hope that the SIMs “speedback” isn’t as awkward in the flesh as it has looked in the photos. Looks more like a rudder sticking out there. It’s disappointing to me because I really liked the M5. (Well I guess it isn’t that bad, because if I upgrade it will likely be F9 or M5 anyway, but the white speedzone looks amazing too.

What’s everyone else thinking? I just feel like the proportions are off on the SIM compared to what Cobra has done.

I can see Cobra being the best offering but Callaway and Taylormade have big marketing budgets. I would say Cobra Speedzone of Mavrik coming in MGS top pick but Taylormade will beat cobra in sales.

Without seeing good pics of crown and address it’s kinda weird ranking clubs by the sole.

granted I’m not a fan of some soles over the years but the look at address and the color(s) of the crown have a bigger impact on loooks

The SIM looks like a chalk and grey M5/M6 from the top. I loved the M5 looks so I expect the top to look good as well.

I expect the Callaway to look good from the top too, they usually do. Some glossy carbon ala the Epic Flash.

The Cobra looks sweet with the matte finish, and even the glossy crown looks good.

I guess I’m just expecting from the latest designs that the top on all of them will look just fine. But this is coming from a guy who doesn’t mine turbulators so take that with a grain of salt

As more and more pics come out of the SIM it looks like it might not be that aggressive.

I’m guessing it’s the mirror finish on those center part that makes it look so pronounced in the initial batch of photos.

We will know soon enough!

While looks are one thing, I've always prescribed to the "function is fashion" ideology. So if I can hit it longer and straighter with a pink driver that has rabbit ears coming out the back, then so be it.

Looking forward to trying out all the new and current models as I desperately need a new driver.

Truth in that! The first driver I bought myself was the Cleveland hi-bore xls... not exactly a looker... but it was the only one I got off the ground.

Thank goodness I’ve improved my swing since then. Haha

I dig the blue and white of the SIM. The m5/m6 didn’t perform all that well for me. Hoping the sim does.

the cobra SZ is good and gives good numbers so does the Mavrik. I don’t k ow yet if anything will be good enough to make a switch, but it will be fun trying.

Seems like the SIM at least the non-max might not be for me anyway as I don’t need lower spin than the M5. But I’ll swing it to be sure. Looks more pronounced than the SZ, but not as bad as those first few leaked
Photos.

Don’t sleep on PXG this year.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see them make a competitive performer this season at results as well as price.

Briefly saw the SIM today, but did not hold or hit it. Shop owner says they still sound awful to him. I'll take his word for it.

On the Callaway side of things, the first day they had MAVRIK in their fitting cart he said they sold five drivers. This is a pretty small operation, I was impressed by that number.

At the simulators today the guy running it had a Mavrik in his bag... didn’t look bad for the 5 seconds I saw it.

Looking forward to testing them all at some point!

Well that was certainly an interesting story by Tony today.  Seems like Mavrik is going to be worth a swing or two.  It also looks MUCH better than those first leaked and even the USGA photos.  Seems like those people take the photos in REAL close so you loose the shape of it.

Going back to my OP I still think the Cobra looks the best to me right now, but the top of the taylormade may push it past the Callaway.  I'm more of a fan of the matte finishes I guess.

Now I just need them all to be available, so I can head to the golf shop on lunch one day and start hitting them!

I’m really interested in the Cobra. (Have hit none of them so far.) I really liked last years model, but just never could pull the trigger. I like the looks of the Mavrik too, but I haven’t been compatible with the last few Callaway releases.

I am through 20 drivers (19 more to go) as part of most wanted testing.  A few a just not for me due to poor performance.....PXG X,  Titleist TS3, Tommy Armour 845, Tour Edge, Cleveland, and a few others.   Mavrik, TM, Cobra are solid performers and could find a place in my bag.  The surprise driver of so far is the Honma XP-1.   Too costly for me,  but it worked for my swing and my typical mishit (high/high toe).

I never thought it felt hard while swinging, but now that you mention it I do remember the M5 feeling as powerful, but a little softer and liking that better. I thought they both sounded great too.

I can see how people like that, it's just not for me. I like a little softer because it feels hotter to me when you get a little "spring" feel? Hard to put into words. Driver looks amazing at address tho, sits a little open to my eye which always helps ease my mind into thinking I'm protected from going too far left.

Yeah, I'm a fan of the crack sound it was making, reminds me of a baseball bat. It's a great driver and I'm sure it'll be a lot of people's cup of tea, just not mine.

I am very impressed by the offerings this year.  I do not think the Cobra feels hard, yes it is on the firmer side but I enjoyed the feedback. The SIM is a ball speed monster but I feel it is a bit more fickle and needs more fine tuning. It is also very low spin so, loft up. The Maverik is almost too muted for my taste, but I am someone that didn't mind the epic flash so..

Shape wise, the cobra is more angular to my eyes, the SIM is pear shaped and the Mav is like a cannonball. Something for everyone out there.

I'm a big fan of how the Mavrik works for me.  Wanted the SIM or SIM Max to work, but w/ shaft testing and everything the best match for my miss was the Mavrik.

I have been hitting the SIM alot and really like it. There is something though that keeps pulling me back to the Cobra Speedzone.

Have a SIM Max on the way.  The more i have read on the SIM, the more I'm glad I went with the MAX.   Even though I figjt high spin at times.  I was afraid of the low launch low spin comments I had read

The Spwedzone and MAVRIK both have my attention as well.

Ive read pros are playing the max to maximize carry since they don’t need all the roll out from the lower spin of the sim

There's a reason I game the G410 plus with no desire to switch to the lst.

My good hits with both are bombs. Mishits with the G410 plus retain their spin on high strikes and only spin up a little more on low strikes.

LST on high toe strikes would potentially drop out of the sky for me
