fixyurdivot
Would the same dates work? I can make some calls to a few of the courses and see how those dates look for a couple of foursomes. How does Banbury GC http://www.banburygolf.com/, Boise Ranch http://www.boiseranchgc.com/, and Shadow Valley http://shadowvalley.com/course/ sound? Oh, and if you want the wild, wild west, come out to Montana and we'll play Old Works, Cottonwood Hills, and Bridger Creek. cksurfdude 1 Quote G410 Plus, 9 Degree Driver G400 SFT, 16 Degree 3w G400 SFT, 19 Degree 5w ZX5 Irons 4-AW Glide 2.0 56 Degree SW (removed from double secret probation ) ER5v Putter (Evnroll ER5v Official Review) AI-One Milled Seven T CH (Currently Under Product Test)

fixyurdivot
I just called Banbury, Boise Ranch, and Falcon Crest. All of them said it would be no issue getting a couple of tee times for 6/25-27. The guy at BR recommended Falcon Crest Championship Course https://www.falconcrestgolf.com/falcon-crest-championship-course/; said it was the toughest test in the area. All of the courses take reservations starting one week ahead. 6/24 would be our travel day and perhaps we can play a twilight round. I'd also be open to playing Sunday early am before making my way back home (may Shadow Valley?). Time to break out of the funk, strap up (or dial up) the laces, and play some golf . Who's in? fixyurdivot
Well, planning wise, this meetup has already covered a wide swath of real estate. First planned for Bend, OR, then Boise, ID, and now finally landing in Coeur D' Alene, ID. Hotels and green fees are quite reasonable and restaurants are open for eat-in with some restrictions on capacity. We currently have (4) players and the following itinerary: 6/25 Indian Hills GC (Spokane, WA) 6/26 Circling Raven (Worley, ID) 6/27 Circling Raven (but likely switching to The Links GC in Post Falls, ID) 6/28 TBD (early am round) We still have flexibility to get additional tee times for Indian Hills, The Links, and Sunday's round - so if any are interested, we need to hear from you by end of today. eddiecut
Newbie that just found this... I am a local in Bend, would love to connect if this outting happens. Sounds like the Bend trip for this week is cancelled but, if we try later in the summer, I am down. cksurfdude and Thin2win
fixyurdivot
Howdy @eddiecutand welcome to the forum! Definitely keep tabs on future PNW meetups. We just concluded the get together this past long weekend. While we had hoped for a larger turnout, @Kenny B, his lovely wife Martha, @Thin2win, and myself met at Indian Canyon on Thursday. The weather was great and everyone had a good round. Any of you in the PNW or traveling to the Spokane area who have not played this course definitely should. It has some breathtaking topography which includes a monster view off #10 tee that looks out over the treetops and onto the Spokane skyline. I'm kicking myself for not getting a picture of that but think Martha may have done so and can share? It is a challenging course that demands accurate tee shots to avoid tree lines that protect both sides of the fairway on most holes. If I lived in the Spokane area, it would be a top pick. from left to right; @Thin2win(Chris), Martha, @Kenny B (Kenny), and @fixyurdivot(Bill) Ken, Chris, and my tee shots off the near 200 yard par 3. No birdies though . Ken, Martha and I were a little off put that the pro shop did not offer the Finn Cycle option to us... what's up with that? On Friday we played Circling Raven in Worley, ID, which is on the west side of Lake Coeur D' Alene. The weather was favorable and winds light. This is a resort course and in near picture perfect shape. At $99 complete with cart and range facility, it's a good value - the price perhaps reflective of its off the beat and track location. The golf carts have a skookum GPS system that shows you hole by hole details, shot distance tracking, aerial flyover views, etc. CR has lots of Fescue bordering fairways and some tee shot carry/waste areas. I had a handful of opportunities in the 2 days there to test my skills hacking out of it... add that to the list of skills needing work . As I mentioned to Chris, I am in awe of how pro players can launch balls out of this stuff! Hole #1 My opening tee shot would land here (Fescue) . On Saturday we played CR again - now armed with all the course knowledge needed to slay this beast. My second tee shot from #1 would land here... RU kidding me? The weather was much cooler and the winds were up a bit, but at least no rain. Kenny lived up to my nickname for him "Mr. Centerstripe". He even demonstrated how to hit a fir tree and end up dead center in the fairway. Martha was just steady as it goes and won my "Most Consistent Player" award. Chris opted to go for the #10 green off the tee and absolutely forged a drive that landed on and rolled to the back edge affording the groups only putt for eagle. He nearly made the putt leaving a tap in birdie - easily the shot of the weekend . After shooting a 98 on Friday (my worst round in several years), I was able to redeem myself and shot an 85 Saturday. All weekend long my putting simply stunk. I had a bad case of "the shorts" - units in feet not inches . A few more pictures of Circling Raven #18 Flag, Round 2... survival training complete . On Sunday, Chris and I played The Links in Post Falls, ID. He had brought his "OneWheel" along as this was the only course that would allow its use. They have a state-of-art weather station at the clubhouse. Hole #9 Par 6 (apparently ShotScope needs to be notified). Neither of us brought our A games, but it was a fun morning. I even gave the OneWheel a test ride without landing in a heap. It's a pretty slick unit and watching Chris slalom down the fairways was entertaining. I took a video of Chris riding it with his phone and he'll no doubt share that when he can. It was a really fun weekend with new friends and a much needed break. Here's looking forward to a Bend, OR or Boie, ID event in the near future with more of you from around the region. Thin2win
Okay, Kenny @Kenny B and Bill @fixyurdivothave given pretty solid recaps. So I will keep it quick and say it was a good time, and a really nice break from being trapped at home. Coeur d'Alene was beautiful, I'd be willing to move there with very little persuading required. Indian Canyon really was fun and fair with elevation changes on every hole. They didn't let me take out my onewheel, but they did have Finn Cycles for me to rent (only 4 dollars more than the regular cart fee). Left to right : 9, 10, 18(which I birdied) Circling Raven was a big resort course and took playing it twice to appreciate it. But great conditions, plenty of wind and nice rolling hills. The golf highlights of my trip came there. Day 2 I tried to drive the green on #10, and succeeded. It was a 245 carry to clear the environmental area, 255 to clear the greenside bunkers. A helping wind got me there. View from the tee: Ball on back fringe: The after round highlight also came later that day as my wife and little guy met me at the clubhouse after the round. Where the little guy made his first putt. At 17 months, he is allowed to putt with a 7 iron. As Bill mentioned, we played the Links at post falls on the last day. It was a perfectly acceptable muni, but a little let down from the previous 3 days. On the plus side, it was very onewheel friendly and I was even able to watch Bill wobble around a tee box. We talked about trying to do something again later this year as the world allows, hope to see more of you there next time. fixyurdivot, Kenny B and cksurfdude 3 Quote WITB: Driver: SIM2 Max 12° - Accra TZ6 M4 FW Wood: Gen5 0311 7w Fujikura Motore X F3 Irons: ZX7 PW-7i, ZX5 6i-5i Wedges: Zipcore 50°, 58° Putter: MySpider X Cart: Onewheel XR+ Ball: Z-Star Diamond/ Z-Star XV
