Couldn't agree more! For me it isn't just about clubs either, I will wear whatever I feel comfortable wearing and that I feel appropriate.

On the chipper side of things, I had one several years ago and let my ego get in the way. I gave it to my father and he is almost automatic with that thing. I have tried to get it back from him but he won't have none of it. It was a MacGregor chipper and probably the ugliest thing in the world but man it works.

This reminds me that I need one for spring so I better get to looking!

I put a chipper in the bag from time to time and they do help because you can just hit a chip like its a putt.  They pretty much eliminate any kind of chipping yips and many of the mishits that can result when hitting a chip.

If I still carried a full bag, Id probably have a 54 and 58 degree wedge and have a chipper.

IMO, for most people a chipper would probably make more sense than a lob wedge does because its a club that is reliable and easy to hit.
