FrogginBullfish
Agreed. As much as others want to grumble about how much their clubs cost, PXG is doing something different and they're not worried about, nor should they be, what people who'd never buy their clubs think. What I'm finding fascinating is the process they're going through with these irons. Five separate molds per iron forging, CNC milled back, robotic polishing and the new weld process. And that's not to mention the two different polymer inserts which they can't inject into the cavity.I'd love to bag a set of these.“The grumbling doesn’t matter,” says Bob Parsons, PXG’s Founder and CEO. “The grumblers, as best as I can tell, for the most part, aren’t our customers.” If you’re still grumbling, PXG isn’t for you. FrogginBullfish
It won't. He does this every time PXG releases new clubs and then pretends it's not about them. I've called him out about it multiple times and he keeps doing it pretending like he's not referring to PXG, when everybody knows that is exactly who he means. TR1PTIK
It’s not that I’m a PXG devotee or anything, but when a brand tries to shame consumers it’s just a bad look. Besides that, there’s no way the two clubs compare - certainly not from a manufacturing viewpoint. JonMUSC08
Though i will prolly never own PXG bc im not rich haha... I am intrigued with their business model and approach. But also find them kinda crazy for making $3000 irons. Interesting article from MGS though. The XP provide lower spin but more distance/carry for a club that is nearly identical to the P. Maybe the work-ability is much greater on the P's I'd love to try these one day. PMookie
I’ll say this: my fitting in Florida last year really opened my eyes to PXG clubs. The fitter was awesome, a former college player at OK St, and what we came-up with was legit from a performance standpoint. Significantly better numbers in consistency than my Ping i210. The irons and driver really performed for me. I couldn’t afford the irons, but the driver I could. That fitting showed me I needed to look for better irons than what I had!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro sirchunksalot 1 Quote Driver: Ping G430 Max 9*, Ping Tour 70X Fairway: Ping G425 15*, Ping Tour 70X Hybrid: Ping G425 22*, Ping Tour 80X Irons: Ping i230 4-GW, TT DG X100 Wedges: SMS 50D/54V/58DModus 130 stiff, +1” Putter: EAS 1.0 Ball: Titleist 2023 AVX

When it costs ~$240k for the molds to make an entire set x3 sets in left handed and another 3 in right handed the costs to sell are going to be high. Several other high end boutique brands fall into similar price range. FrogginBullfish
Based on Tony's piece, the mold costs for each of the new iron sets in the PXG range is something like half a million per iron. Each of the 3 irons in the range offer up to 9 irons. With 5 molds per iron, at upwards of $10k a mold, that's $450,000 minimum in mold costs. Now obviously they're using the molds more than once but it's also fairly obvious that when a company is putting at least a half million into just shaping one line in their new range of product, that product is going to be expensive. And that doesn't even cover the costs to make the DualCOR materials and the other steps in the manufacturing process, but if old reports from the 2017 P790s and Gen1 PXGs hold any water, it cost TM $14 to make a batch of SpeedFoam, where PXG spent $100 to make a batch of the TPE they used. I'd hazard the DualCOR materials cost more than double that of the TPE.PXG can obviously make clubs at a much cheaper price range, but that's not the point of what they're doing as a company. Bob Parsons got Brad Schweigert and Mike Nicolette to leave Ping with the promise they could make clubs with no financial limitations. They're doing exactly that. It's like arguing that Pagani, or other high-end car manufacturers who handbuild, can make their cars cheaper and at a faster rate with an assembly line. Well, obviously, but that's not the point.Sent from my Pixel 2 using MyGolfSpy mobile app TwoCoatsOfWax and sirchunksalot 2 Quote DRIVER PXG 0811XF GEN4 (10.5°) FAIRWAY WOODS PXG 0341XF GEN4 (16°) HYBRIDS PXG 0317XF GEN4 (19°), PXG 0317X GEN4 (22°) IRONS PXG 0311T GEN3 (5 - 9) WEDGES TAYLORMADE MG3 (45°, 50°, 55° TW Grind, 60° TW Grind) PUTTER PXG BATTLE READY ONE & DONE
