Golfspy_CG2
Notching his 2nd win on Tour and first since the 2015 Sanderson Farms Championship, TaylorMade staffer Nick Taylor has a mix of old and new equipment in his bag. He also has something very unique in the setup below. Taylor also is the first ever wire to wire winner of the event. NICK TAYLOR M2 (17) 9.5 Fujikura Atmos Blue Tour Spec 6X SIM 15.0 Fujikura Ventus Black 7X SIM Max 4 iron P770 4-5 P750 6-PW Dynamic Gold Tour Issue X100 (all irons) MG Hi-Toe 52, 56 & 60 Dynamic Gold Tour Issue S400 Spider Tour TP5 The unique thing? This from Ryan Lauder of TaylorMade. Nick Taylor's SIM Max 4 iron (from our Tour team): It's 2 iron length and has 21 degrees of loft. It was originally 19 degrees, but was going too far, so we added some more loft. He hits it "Rescue distance", but controls the trajectory better and hits it super straight. RickyBobby_PR
Interesting he still had 2017 m2 driver. As a TM staffer I surprised he isn’t under contract to play the newest release since I think only Tiger has a contract that allows for not playing newest, but also the 2016 head looked and sounded slightly better to me than the 2017. The sim max 4i both from a choice of clubs and setup is interesting. I would think a p790 udi 2i would be a better fit for the pros over a GI 4i with less loft and longer shaft. But really goes to show how getting gapping right and finding the club that does it is important. The things to tour truck guys do or can do to dial in pros is amazing Golfspy_CG2 1 Quote Driver: PXG 0811 X+ Proto w/UST Helium 5F4 Wood: TaylorMade M5 5W w/Accra TZ5 +1/2”, TaylorMade Sim 3W w/Aldila rogue white Hybrid: PXG Gen2 22* w/AD hybrid Irons: PXG Gen3 0311T w/Nippon modus 120 Wedges: TaylorMade MG2 50*, Tiger grind 56/60 Putter: Scotty Caemeron Super Rat1 Ball: Titleist Prov1
Golfspy_CG2
Yeah, good point on the contract and driver. Wonder if winning will put any more pressure on him to switch since he'll have a bit higher profile now, of if he's able to say, hey I won with this in the bag, it's staying. Pretty sure that was the 4 iron he hit off the tee on 18 and again for his second shot. Smart move there just get it in the fairway and let's get home! newballcoach
It's really interesting because back in 2017 he played the...M1, not the M2. So somewhere along the line he picked up the M2, liked it and keeps rocking it. I am not sure what his contract status is, but that's an anomaly for sure. The 4 iron is also interesting, I would imagine he likes the 4iron head for the spin, as UDI's tend to be very low spinning. He's also the second to win Pebble after going wire-to-wire, Phil did it in 2005. But he's the first Canadian to win it, so that's even better!
