Tommy Armour 303 Milled Putters

In all the hype about the new 845 series from MGS/Dick's/GG - I think Tommy Armour's new putters may have gone under the radar.

I think these look REALLY nice, I'm already thinking of excuses to tell the GF as to why this will inevitably be in my bag.

Habanero

This is my favorite, there are 3 different kinds as well.

What do you guys think? Does anyone have any more insight?

Figured I'd attach two pictures too.

Seems to be a great deal for what they're selling. And those headcovers are very sweet looking as well.

I want to see the grips for sure

Sharp looking putter for sure!  I'm still gaming my TA #3 however I wouldn't be opposed to trying out one of these newer models.

Well @ole gray, maybe the Serrano may be more your style. That's right folks, TA3 shape, milled putter package.

I wish it would, but it appears to be Green. Interesting to name your putters after chili peppers, but I approve!

The putters are in this years most wanted. Decent putters, but the look/lines were a little off for my taste. Ball dispersion at 20 feet was ok but not the best of the putters I tried. I think it is an upgrade to putters from prior years.

Am I wrong to be a bit surprised at the price of these putters? I guess it will depend on how they perform, but a quick Google showed me I can grab a Bettinardi 2020 BB8 Wide for $300 or an Evnroll ER2 Mid-blade for $329. I think I would have expected the TA to be closer to the $200 range, but maybe I'm just crazy

I am with you on this. I think if they priced them at $199.99 they still would be looked at as premium but enough of a price differentiation for people to sway towards them

Counterpoint, TA has three lines available for purchase, Impact, Infusion, and now Milled. Prices were 99, 179 (now on sale for 129) and now 249. Pretty standard price tiering

I like it.  $250 is probably a bit steep for a TA putter though.  Ive used the Impact and Infusion putters and theyre both very good putters.  IMO, TA as a whole has been flying under the radar.  People seem to see it as a DSG house brand and just assume that they arent very good and that they are nothing more than budget clubs.

As someone who currently has a bag of mostly TA clubs, Ive surprised quite a few of my playing partners with just how good they are and how they can outperform their name-brand clubs that cost much more.

I have been giving the Tommy Armour Men's Infusion Series Aero CB Putter some game time and so far, It's not holding a candle to the Tommy Armour Impact Series No. 3 .  I'm having a hard time with the CB heavy feel with judging distance. My putting sucks right now so I'm blaming it on the putter. 😉

I messed around with these at Golf Galaxy last week - I really dislike the WINN grip. Not only is it way skinnier than most modern "new" putter grips,  but something about the ergonomics really didn't fit my hands well.

The forged 845 irons however... they looked almost as good as my friends new cobra forged tec irons

Not with that particular model, but I bought a Tommy Armour Impact Series No. 3 last year and it really helped my putting. I had previously been using an Odyssey White Ice D.A.R.T putter, and the TA definitely improved my putting. I could be wrong, but I believe the milled face helps get the ball rolling quicker than does the urethane face on the Odyssey. Both putters have the same SuperStroke Fatso 5.0 grips, so the difference is all in the putter - and perhaps my head. LOL

I actually have the same putter, the Series No.3 - I like it just fine.

But I've switched to a Ray Cook Blue Goose blade putter, I felt my distance control with the TA No.3 was just not right for me. Thanks for the insight!

I don't doubt the putter is a good flat stick. Curious how long DSG will carry a premium house brand putter for $250. I think they would be more successful at a sub $200 club. Wish them well. Will check them out next time I'm at DSG.

Agree about the grip. I bought the Infusion series New Haven and loved the shape and feel, but replaced the grip. The putter worked well for me.

My wife bought the Impact #3 when it first came out and she also replaced the grip right off, but she did like that putter.

The guy at Dicks told me he is selling more Tommy Armour than anything else, from putters to irons to drivers.

Don't see me giving up my Ping woods and Titleist irons anytime soon, but it looks like Tommy Armour might be a brand to look at if I do in the future.

In terms of producing CNC machined putters with funky headcovers - They're about 25 years behind the curve.

When they can come up with something more radical in terms of design, then maybe some people will sit sit up and take notice of the price tag. Until that time comes - seen it all before.

I recently picked up a TA 303 Milled Serrano and its a great putter.  Its got a nice, soft feel and seems pretty forgiving.
