2020 Birdie Every Hole Challenge

Today I birdied Hole #10, one of two holes I failed to birdie last year.  It's my second birdie on #10 this year, and I still have 10 months to go!!  Putt was a 20 foot left to right uphill breaker.

Alright I got to join in this for 2021 course open on Thurs so ill be out this weekend for sure. Hopefully I can tick one of these off.

We've had so much rain this year it's taken 3 months to finally get out to my home course.  First very rusty round in, 4 pars/birds down and one of those four was the one hole that I didn't par a single time in 2020.  Imagine that.

Two guys at the course did this last year. May do the par challenge and upgrade to birdie if I find it easy.

already played 9 but not worried about the 3 pars mostly because I forget which holes I made the putts on.

I missed two holes last year and have already. Birdied both of them. So far I have birdied 9 holes. My aim this year is to not only track the holes but to also know which holes I birdie most often.

I'm doing the same.  I'm also tracking which holes I have doubles or worse and how many.  So far, it's not surprising; I could guess which holes they are, but it's is surprising how often it happens on those holes.  

Most of the time it's NOT because I hit OB (OB is not in play for me), hit a solid shot that went in a hazard, had multiple shots in a bunker, or 3-putted.  Most doubles are poor hits off the tee but still in play or mishits from the fairway with some that trickle into a hazard.  A few are poor decisions.  I need to clean those up.

So, last year the only eagles I was missing were on the front 9 par 5s, which are 3 and 9. It got to be mental because I generally eagle both those holes a decent amount..

Well, yesterday I eagled both of them in the same 9 holes in route to a spiffy-6, 30 on holes 2 through 10. Irony at it's finest haha

So far, I have 22 Birdies this year at my home club. The two I missed last year(1 &14) have already been birdied and I have 11 holes birdied.

I have four or five rounds this year at the home course.  Have birdied four holes so far, 8, 11, 12, and 14.  

8 is short dogleg right par 5.  11 is 380 yd par 4 with water interrupting the left side of the hole, and elevated kidney shaped green.  12 is short and straight par 4, 331 yds.  14 is same length as 12, but angles left, trees on both sides, and OB right.

11 was one of the holes i missed birdie last year.  Nice to check it off early.

Second round of the year and got my first birdie.   It’s was one of this putts where you could just see the line and the break like someone had painted it on the green in yellow.  About three feet right to left just at the hole. 
 

came up one short last year, so good to be off to a fast start.  
 

The self imposed challenge really changed my thinking and attitude for the better.  It can be done. 
 

but hey @GolfSpy MPR, do you think you can re-name the thread to 2021???

Starting off great this year. Just need one on the front(Par 3 #2) and two on the back(par 4 #16 & #18). All the rest are covered this year.

Began my quest two weeks ago and birdies No. 11 a short par 5, sunk a 15 footer for the first birdie of the year at the home track!

Last year I sunk birdies on 17 holes on my home course - missing (of course) #18.

Fourth birdie of this year came on #18.  A great dog left left par 5 that curves around a pond, with a forced carry either for your 2nd or 3rd shot (always the third for me) having to carry a marsh and another pond, landing on a green that pitches forward but has three distinct areas.  This time it was the front left of the triangle shaped green, with a slope behind it to keep the approach shot in place.  A nice 6 or 7 footer to curl in.  Nice to have that one out of the way. Tough enough getting to 18 and keeping it together to cap a good round - but pushing for birdie can sometimes be detrimental.

Well, in 2020 I missed birdies on 2 holes... #7 and #10; both par 4's uphill into the prevailing wind.

In 2021 I birdied both of those holes more than once!!  However, I failed to birdie our #5 hole, the longest par 5 at 550 yards; also plays into the prevailing wind.

This year I also kept track of which holes I birdied the most and which holes I had double bogey or worse.  I could have guessed correctly without keeping track, but it was clear that my best scores are on #2 and #16, both short par 4's, and my worse scores were on the short-ish par 4 #3 hole ranked as #1 handicap and my nemesis hole the dogleg left par 5 #18 which plays into the wind off the tee; leaving a difficult shot around the dogleg and all kinds of trouble by the green.

Maybe in 2022 I can birdie them all, but might have to move up to the Senior tee to do it.

I missed one hole (#16)at my club that closed 7/31/21. I had birdies on 8 holes at my new club, 8/1/21 through December. That included an Eagle on the par 5 #9.

2022 will be different as I will be out several months with shoulder surgery next week.

I forgot I even put my name on the list last year.  I did complete all pars and all birdies.

This was tracked for our league play and there were two holes that had me by the .... and I didn't birdie them.  One was a par 5 that should be a 10' putt for birdie every time.  Its a 3 shot 90* dogleg par 5 so no hitting it in two for me.  The third shot is usually 90 - 100 yards and I should have a few birdies there but a few early lip outs and I am sure it got in my head the rest of the year!  The other is a par 4 with a similar distance 2nd shot but with a bunker in front & the slope of the green makes it very difficult to get anything to stay close to the hole.  It is usually a 20 - 25' putt with lots of break that I gladly take par and move on.  There is one flat spot on the front of the green where they never put the pin until winter play starts.
