Speaking of players loosing their feel... Seve lost his when he started to get too technical.

My problem too now, I have vertigo, and I’m too technical. So I have to learn to play with what I have that day, sometimes it’s a 15 yard fade and some days it’s a 15 yard draw. And sometimes when I’m lucky it goes straight.

I’m surprised that they took so long to remove the fans from golf.

Going to be interesting to see if it affects scores at all. Not that we’ll now if that is the primary reason.

As I remember it, Seve couldn’t drive the ball on the planet. His career was what convinced me about the importance of driving. The guy was a genius around the green but people forget how solid a ball striker he once was - just needed to keep that tee shot in play and it was church. If you could have give him Norman’s driving he’d have been there n the Tiger/Jack league.

My fantasy squad is off to a good start

Absolutely. I’d say it was at least 50% less attendees than last year. Which is a shame....because the weather this week is absolutely brilliant!!!

The one thing I will be interested to see without the fans at the Players is how many pros actually lose balls with wayward tee shots that normally hit off of someone's head and gets found deep in the woods because there are 50 people around to search for it.  So maybe a few more lost balls due to the pros now having only a few people in their group being able to look for it.

This is the one thing I've always felt was unfair for them compared to us normal schmoes.  The worst feeling in golf is when you tee of first, and blow it way off line and have no idea if you'll find it, and then you have to wait for all three of your playing partners to tee off, and then you rush down to where you think your ball went to maybe not find it.  I'd just like to see how the pros deal with THAT situation when it happens.

We are entering into an entire new era. In my 73 years I don’t remember anything like this.
My Gkids schools shutdown today. Our concert is canceled next week and on and on. Granddaughter school Band trip to Disney canceled.

Yeah, I'm 52 and this is unprecedented in my lifetime.  The amount of public events being cancelled is simply stunning to me.

Wow indeed... that was a sudden course change.  No doubt the PGA was feeling pressure from other sporting organizations and perhaps some legal risk?  Here's hoping COVID-19 takes a hike into the ethereal never to be seen again.

I’m 36 and my wife and I just talked about this 10 minutes ago, definitely a historic event that I’d rather not see. Haven’t seen anything like it in our lifetime.

This is a week - Wrap your minds around this - I’m doing a funeral for a 16 month old tomorrow - the church will be packed and no one will think twice - I was going to write a sermon but now I will bullet point and wing it because I don’t know what the next 12 hours will bring - probably have to Irma (live stream) this weekends service.

For me as a 63 year old this marks a sea change - when I was a kid, parents exposed their kids to chicken pox - that was highly contagious - to toughen our immune systems - the doctors that I know - lots - are stunned by what is going on.

 

I guess we will all be having a pause - let’s pray, if we do, that people who mean wrong in this world don’t try to take advantage of this situation.

My wife's grandmother was 10 years old during the global flu pandemic of 1919.  She would often talk about it, how she took care of her younger brothers and sister and parents when they got sick.  Two of her siblings died.  She stayed flu free until all the others recovered and then came down with it.  This reminds me of the stories she told.  

A few years before I was born, polio swept through our area.  My brother and sister remember it, my parents were terrified of it.  I was born at almost the perfect time to avoid it thanks to vaccinations.  Nevertheless, one girl in my grade school developed it and she was in a wheelchair for several years, but recovered.  It happened in the summer:  swimming pools were closed down, church services canceled, all group activities cancelled.  

When I was in high school, the flu was particularly bad one year.  They didn't close the school, but came very close.  I got the flu that year and it sucked.  On the bright side, my Biology teacher cancelled the test on zygotes.  The local hospital was very busy that year, but because most people took the treat seriously and followed the recommendations of the medical community, it was not overwhelmed.    

My take on this:  we have a responsibility to ourselves, our families, our neighbors and our communities to act in a socially responsible manner.  

I am taking the recommended steps to avoid exposure, not because I worry about myself.  I don't want to get infected and then spread the infection to others, who may be at higher risk.  I am doing my part to "flatten the curve."  I hope others do so as well.

Luckily I do follow the local HS and Connecticut HS .

during any disastrous times, you see this.....9/11, Hurricane Sandy...ect.....this is nothing new. People just forget which is why individuals still rush to the store and fistfight over toilet paper.

We weren't going to get the Azaleas in full bloom this year anyway according to my aunt.  Record temperatures over the winter caused them to bloom several weeks early this year.  Azaleas only bloom for about two to three weeks.  Given they began blooming very early this year, the blooms will be gone by April.

My aunt is something of a gardener.
