Toilet auger worked on the first try, I am relieved.
Home Depot in my area was also limiting the number of shoppers. About 50% of people (employees and customers) were not wearing masks, which was disappointing.

I don’t think there is a better, more relieving phrase than “toilet auger worked on the first try!”

I hope this gets cleaned up by July 4th. Just booked a trip to Kauai, 4th - 10th. Hoping to play.

I wouldn't hold my breath. The mayor of Kauai county is actually doing a much better job and placing Kauai under more strict policy. I believe Kauai is also the only island to arrest any tourists so far for breaking the mandatory 14-day quarantine for people who arrive on the islands. They're likely going to be the last island to "open" if things do continue to settle here

In Scotland we have had all the courses closed since the 23rd March. There are 2 points I wan to make.

1. The game in Scotland for the non marque clubs has been struggling in recent years, my own club is running annually with debt around $150k. There is a debate at the moment because we don't get access to the course that we should withhold fees or look for a refund. In normal circumstances if I was a member of a wealthy club I would back this, but I'm happy to continue on as is. Thoughts!

2. I'm really frustrated by the governing body in Scotland; Scottish Golf that have given out guidelines to close all courses for play. We have a right to roam law in Scotland that means the public can use the course as a right of way this is being abused with picnics and kids playing in bunkers, soccer on the greens  and all kinds of s*** happening on the well  maintained courses. Personally with a set of guidelines policed by on course marshalls I don't see why the courses can't re-open to singles and 2 balls, no buggies walking only, all course furniture either removed or banded off. With a little common sense the course can be opened. If you think about it the average male with a club in their hand and swinging will ensure that their partner stays at least 6 feet away.

We have 5 people in the house in lockdown and I need to get away soon or I'm going to have a Jack Nicholson moment

The whole mask thing kind of annoys me. Here is why, it gives people false hope that it is doing something. Cloth masks have no effective ways to stop the small sized droplets from most coughs or sneezes heck even n95s aren't rated for some of the particulates. If this is like other corona viruses and cannot have a successful vaccine are we all just going to live in fear forever?

Honestly the best thing for everyone to do is wash your hands and maintain good hygiene.

Like yungkory said, it’s to keep your hands (that touch all the crap) from touching your face and mucous membranes. In between hand washing it’s the best means of reducing spread.

I can't comment from a medical perspective, but I'd agree, I definitely don't touch my face near as much as I would otherwise.

... I am not a brain surgeon, though I have played one on TV. 😷  But as I understand it, the purpose of the mask is to stop YOU from sneezing and coughing on someone else. It doesn't protect you, it protects others from you. The fact that 50-75% of people with Covid are asymptomatic and have no idea they are carrying the virus, it has to be a good idea for everyone to wear a mask, or bandana or anything over their nose and mouth that stops them from spreading the virus MUCH more easily than without a mask.

... I just got back from our weekly Whole Foods run and I asked the cashier if she feels even a little safer with us wearing masks because of course there were about 10% in the store not wearing them and she said "MUCH safer. You are here and around a few others for a short period of time but I am around a lot of other people all day long. So thank you for wearing one."

Trust me I understand this was just a comment about complaining that people aren't wearing masks when out and about. Wear them I'm not against it at all I wear them at work A LOT mainly because we have a policy to but also because some people are very sick and it keeps their droplets off my face because people don't know how to cover their faces so people wearing them is nice.

I just like to be realistic which is why I point these things out to people. I am not saying don't wear them because I wouldn't wear them outside of work and only wore one when my state made it mandatory. But I am around this constantly and was around it with people before the spread was as bad as it is.

Or as the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, put it, it stops you from speaking moistly on others.

Got to hit some balls in the backyard after all (since the toilet auger worked).

Doing some drills and practice swings to try not to be so steep in transition. I was trying all of the classic shallowing moves, but they either didn't work for me or made it worse. What ended up happening was in reaction to the shallowing, I would unconsciously pull the handle. The only thing working was what I had learned from Monte Scheinblum was to feel like you are purposefully throwing away the wrist angle at the top.

So we were fortunate enough to get our PPP "loan" this past week. I can't believe some of the stuff I'm reading about the Lakers and AutoNation returning the loans they got. Uhh, are we supposed to be impressed by such an unselfish gesture? Why were you even considered for the application, and how in the hell were you AWARDED one? It's crazy to think how many other companies/organizations on this scale might have been given money when there are other, ACTUAL small businesses hurting for it. The amount of crap going on behind the scenes could probably become another McMillion$ doc.

We got ours - it’s huge for us - keeps our entire staff employed even if we are unable to hold it. It appears as if we may in July and school should start in August but this lets us keep everyone on.

In regards to COVID itself I know people who have had it and it’s ranged from not much to the significant but not hospitalized.

However I know several people who have had friends or multiple friends die - mainly people in the Boston area.

It’s there, it’s real, we can judge whether we thought the mitigation was too harsh later but I think all of us have learned practices that should continue through each “flu” season. Lots of serious illnesses and untimely deaths can be prevented that way too.

I know that the way I will do ministry going forward has changed for good and mostly for the better.

Australia's cases have dropped significantly. My state is continuing its partial lockdown. This is despite only 15 new cases in the last week.  The plan is to test asymptomatic people over the next 2 weeks, starting with health workers and emergency services. I'm booked in tomorrow, they plan to test every employee of the health network I'm part of over the next 2 weeks, about 5000 people.  By testing 100,000 asymptomatic people, they hope to get a real picture of the number of infections prior to opening things up.

All of the testing done is performed with no cost to the individual, which is a great thing.

Nice! We're back down to only a few new cases per day here. Kauai hasn't had a single one for 15 days and claim they have 0 active. I call BS and just don't think they're testing. The mayor is trying to do a phased opening which includes golf courses on Friday, but the Governor recently signed into legislature that he has sole power over all counties, so unless he signs off on it, I'm not golfing this week.

I fully expect Hawaii to have another flare up of cases this fall/winter as people flock from colder climates to enjoy ours. Certainly hoping it's not the case, but money comes before public safety

I think it too early to tell, however, there is speculation that it'll come back. Who knows? They have experts on both sides of the forecast.

Once this clears up I'll be saving my masks for the Fall/Winter.

I don't remember but your company sells to new car manufacturers? Or do they do replacement parts as well?

Reading what our wonderful Governor had to say yesterday, new car showroom may not be that far away from opening here.

I don't remember but your company sells to new car manufacturers? Or do they do replacement parts as well?
Reading what our wonderful Governor had to say yesterday, new car showroom may not be that far away from opening here.
I actually work on the car manufacturing side of things. I work at the Volkswagen plant in Chattanooga where I help to assemble the cockpit for the Atlas line and the Passat.

We just got notification today that we are not going back to work next week. The automotive industry is a fickle one and we are still seeing shortages from a couple of regions that supply our parts.

The parts shortage domestic or foreign? Domestic shouldn’t take too long as long as they had parts in the que.

Just curious what the discussion has been surrounding the weather and approaching cooler months there and what impact it might have?

I think the cold and flu season has been a factor in decision making. Flu shots have been made available earlier, and to a wider spectrum for free than usual.

My states population is about 6.5M, about the same as Indiana. We've had 1354 confirmed cases with 18 deaths, currently 18 patients in ICU. Indiana has over 17,000 with over 1000 deaths. The comparison is staggering.

Our public health system has been carrying the load, with the vast majority of hospitalised patients and testing being done in our public system.

For information only, our states run public hospitals, federal government run our Medicare system, which provides fee for service to the provider for most medical services. Virtually all emergency services and surgery occur in the public system. If you have a heart attack and require immediate bypass grafts, it is done with no cost to the patient.

Stay safe, the stats from the USA are truly frightening compared to here.

There are numerous reports floating around that this, like the flu dissipates with warm weather. Hopefully that's the case and you don't see the explosion we did here as it gets cooler.

Stay Safe.
