Just found out one of the guys in our Tuesday group is self quarantine. His son and family was visiting last week and now his son has been found positive for the Virus. It’s getting too close.
This guy and his family needs our prayers.
Also guys please don’t politicize this Virus.
Thanks

Amazing stuff from the UK. As a public health worker, this is making me feel pretty good, even though it's happening on the other side of the world. We're all in this together, especially those at the front line.

yup, it gave me goosebumps and brought a tear to my eye. These people are immensely brave helping infected patients while wearing poor ppe, and the constant fear they could catch it.

They dont get paid enough imo

Yeah, it's pretty scary. I for one am not in it for the money, and knowing the people I work with, it's pretty much across the board. I've seen a lot of awful stuff over the years, but this is something totally different. One positive here in Aus, our PPE supplies are good and readily accessible.

The known but still unknown is difficult to deal with. Most of what we confront on a daily basis is at least obvious, so easier to rationalise, despite how awful or horrific it may be.

Hopefully everyone can get on board and suck up some hardship so we can all defeat this thing.

We all have a role to play, even if it's staying at home and managing our relationships with our family.

Bored out of my mind took a “self quarantine” cart ride around immediate area and golf courses.
Grocery Store line B4 opening looked like folks were pretty well spaced. Golf courses everyone was either 1 per cart or walking. People were taking their walks NO GROUPS! I’m kinda happy to see folks are listening!
Back home might as well wash my cart as I put a few miles on it, wash the tin section of my roof where the birds pooped, wash driveway and a couple more of the Tilley hats . That should tire me out for a while.
No Friday Bacon Boyz for a while.

I went to the grocery store last night so I can pick up food and supplies for my mother in law.  They were pretty well stocked and the only things that seemed to be out were some baking essentials (sugar!), paper products (yep TP still out and now paper towels as well) and Ice Cream (one of things I was actually interested in picking up, LOL_

Safeway is where I went 😞  I am fortunate to have 5 grocery stores near me (most within 5 minutes) - Safeway, Giants, Food Lion,  Wegmens, and Shoppers.  I've done the majority of shopping at Giants since it's my preferred grocery story in general and during this Covid outbreak (safeway seems to always mis-charge me on "sale" items etc...).  I asked about the Ice Cream situation and the lady at the checkout looked at me like what were you expecting, LOL.  Literally, there were maybe 20 total ice-cream related items in the freezer section which ran the depth of the store.  I guess everyone had the same idea I had when it came to hunkering down...you want ice cream for breakfast, lunch and dinner ?  Yep no problem...ha ha ha...

Anyone have any tips on how to safely grocery shop during these types of things?

I’m going to have to go weekly, 7 people go through stuff quickly. Even when we are rationing.

Wear gloves if you can. You can wear a mask but it's unlikely to help you aside from touching your face. You just want to minimize touching your mouth, eyes, and nose, because that's how the virus gets in. Wearing gloves might remind you not to touch your face eyes and nose, it's not to protect you from getting the virus on your hands because it supposedly can't get through healthy skin.

I saw this on Twitter last night. I know, it's Twitter, but some of it seems to make sense:

Most importantly, stay away from people. Our grocery stores taped off lines in the checkout lanes to remain a safe distance. Wash your hands when you get home. Hell, take an entire shower if you gotta. Crank that hot water up! Might help you overcome the anxiety of having been out during this mess as well, who knows!

This is a recent study from 3/17 regarding decay rates on certain surfaces. This may or may not be useful. Gloves and masks are useful and also offer some comfort.

... Nice Shankster, making lemonade out of lemons. Local is always best for everyone. We do the same and have a farm where we buy all our meats because they are grass fed, free range and the farmers really love what they do. Talking to the farmer and his family gives you a feeling of pride as well as knowing all about your beef, chicken and pork. In the summer we always go to a local Framers Market and get fresh seasonal organic vegetables and fruit. I wish there were local fish markets where we could get fresh fish right off the boat but Chicago is a loooooong way from that.

Mother in law just went in for a test. Hospital said she wasn’t sick enough, her and her husband were told to stay home for 14 days. Symptoms match Covid-19, just not severe. That’s good news I guess...?

Hope it’s a cold not COVID 19 Buddy.

Yeah, my grandpa had a farm. My wife and I were married on my parents friends farm (that I hope to someday buy), we used to go to farms when we lived out in Washington, and back in the Yoop. Love farms, and farming really. Always helped grandpa, and my dad with his smaller gardens.

Definitely will be frequenting the local farms here.

So all of our remaining indoor percussion and winter guard competitions were cancelled earlier this month. Our "sewing circle" parents who normally would have been repairing and fixing costumes right up until mid-April when we would have left for world championships in Dayton decided to do this instead:
