Newport Two bargain?

I was wandering around Golf Galaxy today and came across the Newport Two in the attached pictures.  Talked them down and ended up buying it for about $100. I’ve been gaming a Studio Stainless Newport 2 since the early 2000’s but admittedly don’t know anything about this model. Wondering if there’s someone out there who knows more?

That is an oil can Newport 2 from 95 or 96. These were the first run of putters that Scotty did for Titleist on a large scale and I believe most of these heads were milled by Bettinardi (but may not be correct in that). Great stick for $100 and the nice part is they clean up well and are easy to refinish as they were essentially raw with an oil quench finish. I have a few in the collection and they feel great but a bit light by today’s standards.

If you take it out to play make sure you go to your local sporting goods store and pick up a gun oil cloth and wipe it down after each round. As you can imagine these rust very easily. Good luck and nice pickup.

Nice work talking them down. Had no idea that GG would be willing to do that - especially on a Scotty.

BTW - is there any other brand/name in golf that holds it value more than Scotty Cameron. It's like those 2 words add a 50% increase to the value!

That putter was my first intro to Scotty Cameron. My uncle has one that I rolled a few with and fell in love with it. Gaming a 2014 Studio Select but am jealous of your find.

Great deal, my local course just brought in some Scotty putters that are slightly used and selling for $124. Have only seen pictures but they look to be in good shape. Can't wait to get by there this weekend

Absolute steal...what grip is on it? The original baby t's are not cheap in their own right. Great find!

Looks exactly like my putter head rust and all. Bought it in the mid 90s for around 80 dollars and still use it. Just regrip it from time to time. Design still works. Coat it with a little oil now and then.
