Mr. 82
My course is still open. They closed the pro shop and have a limited call in option at the restaurant where you can call and order food and they will bring it to you. They normally keep range balls in bags in the pro shop, but are just keeping range balls on the range now. Our dogfight went from a shotgun start to tee times, spread out over several hours, I guess to avoid a large group congregating on the putting green and range at the same time. They also did this to the holes, I guess to minimize germs... They are also allowing everyone to ride solo in carts. I figure I'll just walk as that's what I typically do anyway. tony@CIC and GolfSpy MPR 2 Quote G400 Driver XR 4 Fairway 16.5° Fli-Hi Utility Iron - 21° G Series 5-9 irons SM7 46°, 50°, 54° & 58° Ghost Spider S putter Nexus Laser Rangefinder Garmin Approach S20 GPS

juspoole
I've got many around me still open and a couple that are closed. I went and played the par 3 course yesterday and they were discussing doing more phone credit card type orders and they have already limited cart use. To me doing that and staying away from flagsticks and bumping the hole or not putting out really takes the fear out of things. Golf is a sport that you can easily distance yourself so hopefully weather will be good and I can still play a couple rounds during the spring. Probably a few less than normal, but hard to tell at this point. CarlH
Our course (private club) is open for play. Although the restaurant and clubhouse are closed, the snack shack and beverage cart are still operational. Many precautions are urged, including preferred that you walk or only one person per cart (exception husband/wife), no rakes in bunker, don't touch the flag or anyone else's clubs/balls, maintain distance from others of at least 6 feet, no handshaking, etc. The local public courses also remain open with similar precautions. I suspect that if our governor opts to go to a shelter in place order, then all will change. But for now...golf is still an option. TR1PTIK
Range was closed last I went to the course near me, but we've had a lot of rain so it may have just been because of that since the clubhouse was open and they were still letting people share carts. I'd like to see the courses around here adopt what @Golfspy_CG2 mentioned above. The only issue I see is that none of the courses I've played so far actually accept payment online - they just reserve the tee time. Not sure what it would take for them to change that. I'd assume for those that do online bookings with GolfNow or a similar service could make the switch fairly easy, but I'm also certain that those booking sites would want more money. edingc
I got my first closure email today, but also see a few other courses posting on Facebook that they plan on opening next week. My personal home course has not opened yet, but others in the area have. As of last night, our governor said she is not considering a complete "shelter in place" for the foreseeable future so I expect more will open as the weather continues to improve. That situation is obviously pretty fluid as the number of infected rapidly rises as more are being tested. For example, they removed all rakes from the course and say to just smooth the sand with your foot. Tee times are spaced 12 minutes apart, flag sticks left in, single carts are allowed, the staff are wiping carts with disinfectant after each use, no dine-in; only carry out, only eight people in the pro shop at a time, etc, etc. Oh and all putts within 3' of hole are good. pulledabill
About 8pm last night I saw and FB and Instagram course that my home course closed. First one in Oregon from what I've seen anyways. The course had homes built around it many years ago and Id say that average members age is 65 to 70. Just a guess. Most of the people that live on the course are retired as well. I drive by it daily to and from work and the place has been crazy packed with all the sun we have had here in Salem, OR. Lots of retired folks out playing with a mix of walkers and riders. I am seeing more posts from local courses with added precautions such as 1 rider per cart, no rakes, raised cup, and the usual precautionary stuff. tony@CIC 1 Quote DRIVER: Cobra F9 10.5 Tensei AV Blue 65g 3W- Callway XR PRO 16 stiff 5W- Alpha- Mitsubishi Diamana Redboard w/band Irons- Mizuno JPX 919 Tours with S KBS Tour shafts Hyrbid- TM 4h mid-rescue Vokey- Vokey SM5 51 degrees, SM7 Wedges 54 and 58 1/2 half 3 degrees upright Putter- Taylor Made Rossa Monza Mini Spider Ball-ProV1 and AVX
