More forgiving and longer distance, for many, can make up for a slightly larger club head. I wonder if they make a version of these in the G410 finish? Edit: I do see the Recoils in the post above. Berg Ryman
First things first, @Rickp psyched to see you took the plunge on these. Can't wait to hear how you'll be getting along with them during your Florida winter. Speaking of winter, as much as it pains me, my season is certainly over here in Central New York with the rain that's been falling these past 10 days and the chilly temps coming up, including a low in the 20's tonight so I figured why not take you inside my numbers as kind of a capper on this year. According to Arccos, the strength of my game this year was... my short game! Compared to a 5 handicap, which is around what my goal is right now, I gained nearly 3.9 strokes due to my wedge play, second best was Approach play, which was the only other positive strokes gained metric with .3. Now I hit 39% of greens in regulation, just below the 5 handicap target of 46% and admittedly, when you are chipping it as well as I was this season it's not awful but I'd like to see that number go up next year. Perhaps the biggest surprise was how aggressive these clubs allowed me to be. I actually was best out of the rough with them across all the Arccos metrics on approach shots, gaining .5 strokes per round from approaches from the rough, .3 from the fairway, but losing .4 on par 3 tee shots. Part of that I think comes from the course I play having two par threes that are 210 and 190 yards respectfully, and one where I hit a wedge. Interestingly, broken down into distances the numbers reflect about what I would think. I gain the most strokes in my scoring zone 100-150, but lose the most in the tricky zone of 150-200. I would assume that comes from the adjustment back to long irons and the fact that I just have more shots in that 100-150 range on my home course than the others. Next, Distance to hole on GIR. When I hit the green I'm hitting it close, inside 20 feet most of the time, all shots measured out to 18 feet average distance from the hole, 10 feet closer than the average 5 handicap. It's just getting that number up of greens. I'll take being slightly further away if I can get that GIR number closer to 45 or even 50 percent. Lastly, a note about my statistical weakpoint, putting. I lost 4.1 strokes to a 5 handicap putting this year, perhaps worse losing 3.3 strokes from 0-10 feet. A new putter is definitely in the mix for 2021. Also lost .9 strokes on driving... but that's a little less concerning. So, what does this mean for the G710's going forward?? Well, they're cemented in the bag for some time as far as I'm concerned. They help me play better golf and this was a season limited by the coronavirus and my job, and receiving them a bit on the later side so it was really only... like half a season with them. I think the adjustment period is over as for my final 9 hole round of the year I was really striping some shots with them. I'm looking forward to 2021 as far as my iron play goes, now if only I could get that putter hot again. This morning went out cold with out any warmup or practice. 1st 3-4 holes driver was great G410 irons felt like I was hitting granite rock (Srixon QStar). 5th or 6th holes switched to Titleist TruFeel used ball had in my bag. Big difference! Better height, distance and definitely feel. Driver still the same. Also G410 has a nice baby draw that I love. This of course is 1st few swings and too soon to tell anything. The ball “thing” has me a bit confused and will need a more play.BTW, snowed in our home town this morning. Rickp
2nd time out this morning cool, mid 50’s and 15-20 mph gusts, not ideal.First 3 holes struggled w irons and nothing to do w elements, every shot felt harsh and “clicky” but straight. 3rd hole I finally woke up and realized it was my bad swing, bad tempo toe shot. Sure enough, got tempo down and hit most shots in the elusive sweet spot and we were back in business. Would have preferred the Pro's but us lefties have slim pickins Dammmm Mizuno was between the models when I got fitted. Originally my fitter wanted me to try the 919's but they were sold out. Ended up with the Speed Zones which I really like - but still wish I could have tried the 919s or 921s. Grass is always greener......... Edit: I did try the Pings but they weren't as long and dispersion was much wider than the SZs Rickp 1 Quote Left Hand orientation SIM 2 D Max with Fujikura Air Speeder Shaft Cobra Radspeed 3W/RIptide Shaft 410 Hybrids 22*, 26* Cobra Speed Zone 6-GP/Recoil ESX 460 F3 Shafts SM7 54* Wedge Glide 3.0 60* Wedge O Works putter V3 NX9-HD - 4 Wheel EZGO TXT 48v cart - too many shoes to list and so many to buy And BAG Boy Golf Balls: Vice Pro Plus 2020 Official Tester Beginning Driver Speed - 78 2019 Official Tester 410 Driver 2018 Official Tester C300

fixyurdivot
For those who have gamed the G410's and now the G700 or G710's, what are your thoughts on a split bag? Thinking a 4i and 5i G700 series paired with the G410's? My shot tracking is showing a much bigger inconsistency with the 4i and 5i than I'd like. Hoping to test the Steelfiber and see if they offer a match.
