83 yesterday, again nearly 50 percent of greens. Putting continues to be up and down. I think this is just gonna be the way the season goes until we're done.

I just got email that Arccos and Ping are doing the trial program again for free sensors but only 3 month trial. I’d complain if they accidentally shorted you.

I have a G400 driver that is eligible for this. If you let the subscription lapse, can you get it back later?

Did a “Big Boy 9” this morning kinda tough and little longer than I like but is what it is.
Hit the G710 7iron as much as I could and I’m loving this iron. From tee to nasty Bermuda rough this club was workin it.
There’s a very good chance the G710 are on my Birthday present list.
BTW, the Recoil shaft really felt goodemoji106.png

Probably missed it but are these the stock (upcharge) Recoil ES shafts?  Are you just finding these easier to hit and more forgiving than the G410's.  By all accounts, they are longer than the G410's by a little bit.  More forgiving and longer distance, for many, can make up for a slightly larger club head.  I wonder if they make a version of these in the G410 finish?

Edit: I do see the Recoils in the post above.  Dang, that's a sexy looking club... who cares how they perform 🤣.

The Recoils were available w no up charge. I did not want the Alta CB shafts they are not for me.
Not sure wether the G410 offer recoils but should be easy enough to find out.
I requested the black finish Recoils.

First things first, @Rickp psyched to see you took the plunge on these. Can't wait to hear how you'll be getting along with them during your Florida winter.

Speaking of winter, as much as it pains me, my season is certainly over here in Central New York with the rain that's been falling these past 10 days and the chilly temps coming up, including a low in the 20's tonight so I figured why not take you inside my numbers as kind of a capper on this year.

According to Arccos, the strength of my game this year was... my short game! Compared to a 5 handicap, which is around what my goal is right now, I gained nearly 3.9 strokes due to my wedge play, second best was Approach play, which was the only other positive strokes gained metric with .3. Now I hit 39% of greens in regulation, just below the 5 handicap target of 46% and admittedly, when you are chipping it as well as I was this season it's not awful but I'd like to see that number go up next year.

Perhaps the biggest surprise was how aggressive these clubs allowed me to be. I actually was best out of the rough with them across all the Arccos metrics on approach shots, gaining .5 strokes per round from approaches from the rough, .3 from the fairway, but losing .4 on par 3 tee shots. Part of that I think comes from the course I play having two par threes that are 210 and 190 yards respectfully, and one where I hit a wedge.

Interestingly, broken down into distances the numbers reflect about what I would think. I gain the most strokes in my scoring zone 100-150, but lose the most in the tricky zone of 150-200. I would assume that comes from the adjustment back to long irons and the fact that I just have more shots in that 100-150 range on my home course than the others.

Next, Distance to hole on GIR. When I hit the green I'm hitting it close, inside 20 feet most of the time, all shots measured out to 18 feet average distance from the hole, 10 feet closer than the average 5 handicap. It's just getting that number up of greens. I'll take being slightly further away if I can get that GIR number closer to 45 or even 50 percent.

Lastly, a note about my statistical weakpoint, putting. I lost 4.1 strokes to a 5 handicap putting this year, perhaps worse losing 3.3 strokes from 0-10 feet. A new putter is definitely in the mix for 2021. Also lost .9 strokes on driving... but that's a little less concerning.

So, what does this mean for the G710's going forward?? Well, they're cemented in the bag for some time as far as I'm concerned. They help me play better golf and this was a season limited by the coronavirus and my job, and receiving them a bit on the later side so it was really only... like half a season with them. I think the adjustment period is over as for my final 9 hole round of the year I was really striping some shots with them. I'm looking forward to 2021 as far as my iron play goes, now if only I could get that putter hot again.

Thanks for sharing your info, a lot more detail than I do that’s for sure.
The G710 are great irons for you.
This morning went out cold with out any warmup or practice. 1st 3-4 holes driver was great G410 irons felt like I was hitting granite rock (Srixon QStar). 5th or 6th holes switched to Titleist TruFeel used ball had in my bag. Big difference! Better height, distance and definitely feel. Driver still the same. Also G410 has a nice baby draw that I love.
This of course is 1st few swings and too soon to tell anything.
The ball “thing” has me a bit confused and will need a more play.
BTW, snowed in our home town this morning.

2nd time out this morning cool, mid 50’s and 15-20 mph gusts, not ideal.
First 3 holes struggled w irons and nothing to do w elements, every shot felt harsh and “clicky” but straight. 3rd hole I finally woke up and realized it was my bad swing, bad tempo toe shot. Sure enough, got tempo down and hit most shots in the elusive sweet spot and we were back in business. Felt much better about these irons, much better.

Another 9 w these irons. I’m getting impressed, very impressed.
Pros;
Longer than G410 & Mizuno Hot Metal.
Also higher ball flight than either of other clubs. I’m pretty sure the Recoil shafts have a lot to do w it.
Playing 18 tomorrow so see what happens. So far I’m impressed. Not sure impressed w irons or shafts or their a good combo for me.
Cons;
Not crazy about the “sound” off iron face, kinda clicky but ball goes.

Good clubs!

Kinda surprised you like them more than the Mizuno Hot Metal. I actually just switched to the new 921 hot metal's and LOVE them. Only played 18 so far with them but the head with the new shafts im playing (KBS S-taper 130 soft stepped) have been deadly. Never played 130 shafts and certainly not stepped but im hitting where i aimed and that's key.

The thing i didnt like about the 710's is the inability to work the ball a bit. Too big of a head. Just wasnt working for me. That clicky sound can be ignored as long as the shots are good haha

Just checking in, last post in this thread for a while. The G710’s have a firm hold in the bag. I’ve gotten comfortable w them (took a while) even w the chipping. Had a couple of chip shots last 2 days within a foot of the Pin.
Toe shots sound terrible clicky but I guess that means not to hit the ball off the toe
Anyway, I’m happy w them, off course that could change w next shiny thing but would have to be a hell of a real shiny thing

Since you like the 710's so much feel free to send those Mizunos my way.

Not ready to let go but they are nice
G710 have more height and a bit more carry for me, if not for that the Mizzies would still be residents of my bag.

Dammmm  Mizuno was between the models when I got fitted. Originally my fitter wanted me to try the 919's but they were sold out. Ended up with the Speed Zones which I really like - but still wish I could have tried the 919s or 921s. Grass is always greener.........

Edit: I did try the Pings but they weren't as long and dispersion was much wider than the SZs

the Ping G710's were too Super Game Improvement for me. Needed a little bit of workability. Great Clubs but i guess im a little better than those are tailored for (not saying im good by any means haha)

For those who have gamed the G410's and now the G700 or G710's, what are your thoughts on a split bag?  Thinking a 4i and 5i G700 series paired with the G410's?  My shot tracking is showing a much bigger inconsistency with the 4i and 5i than I'd like.

The 460 F4's aren't doing it for me on the Cobra Forged Tours.  They just launch too high.  I love the way they feel and look though.  Hoping to test the Steelfiber and see if they offer a match.

For what it’s worth I’m still using the Mizzie 5i w the G710 irons 6-GW and the Mizzie 55* wedge.
Kinda odd setup but working out.....so far.
