@tehuti well done on the review!  I may have missed this in your write up.  Did the GOST do enough to keep it's place as the shaft in your hybrid or is the original a better fit?

I think the KBS Proto is the high water mark right now for hybrid shafts and the fact that the GOST was on par is a win. I liked it a lot and for me it just fits better in an iron than a hybrid, no loss of points there just how I would use it.

I had a shot today that was 220 yards that I had to hit a low hook under trees. Maybe fly it 190 and then get it to chase. With the GOST. Don’t feel I could hit this shot with a hybrid but with it in my 4 iron I feel I could with ease. The difference is how aggressive I can be with the strike.

KBS Proto was the best fit for me at True Spec last fall. It was nice to know I wasn’t going to hook it even in neutral settings with that one.

The GOST is definitely a better shaft than the original. If anything I need to replace the head and keep the shaft.

The biggest story from the round is how horrible the greens were.  The head greenskeeper is blaming the wet spring for the conditions; but no other course in the area is like this.  It looks like something you would see from Club Pro Guy on Twitter!

I wish I hit this hybrid as well on the course as I do on the range. I was hitting it straight again today, and even got the height I usually can’t get. No slices at all.

 

I really like the weight of the GOST shaft. I may have to pair it with a better head.

Really need to get the GOST into my 4 iron but haven’t been able to find downtime in my golf schedule. I also have zero issues with the AD DI 95x that is currently in my 4 iron so it may be a fall project. Too darn good of a shaft to sit on a shelf in my workshop.

I've found out that the GOST Hybrid shaft is not 100% fool-proof; I've developed a severe case of the hooks.  When the review ended I was hitting over 58% of fairways off the tee.  My last 10 rounds that dropped down to 27% with 54.5% of my misses now being to the left.  On the positive side my smart distance has gone up 6 yards from 234 to 240.

I think I may need a stiffer shaft if I'm going to keep swinging hard with it.
