2020 Official Member Review: Titleist T100S/T200 irons

I’m betting that after a few swings into the ground that new mirror finish will dull out nicely. The pic makes it look shinier than in real life. I didn’t even notice it until I uploaded the picture.
Got a round booked for 7:30 am tomorrow morning so the rain had better hold off until about 11.

... Awesome my man! I would love to post pictures of my T100-S irons but evidently I did something to offend the Golf Gods because I am the only one that didn't get them. 🤣

Hang in there, hopefully they will show up soon. I am very much waiting on your review.

Question:. Is there anything slower than the last few hours of the work week before a long weekend?

Answer: Yes! Waiting for the FedEx guy to show up knowing your new irons are in his truck!
It feels like it is Tuesday already!

A couple quick pics below. These T200's look amazing and the practice swings feel as good as they look! I will give one tiny critique. My specs I sent were for all logos up and the shaft logos are down. Not a huge deal and I may be at fault for not clarifying before hand.

8-Iron Comparison L T200 R Sub70 699 Topline is definitely thinner and less offset on the T200's in the short irons

I was actually expecting a thicker top line and sole but was pleasantly surprised with the size

I'm going to need some info on these grips. Are they as pink in real life as in the photos, or just too much contrast or something? It's fun to beat people while playing pink grips

First round in the books and the star of the show was definitely the 6-iron. Stuck 2 180yd tee shots to inside 12’. Made 1 of the 2 putts! The feel is different than the Sub70 699’s. More solid and less springy with a thicker click sound.
So far they have been a 1/2 club longer but it is a small sample size.

I got hooked on Iomic grips maybe 12 years ago, or more.  At that time, they had a choice of a dozen or more grip colors, and a similar selection of end cap colors.  My Mizunos are red with pink end caps.  Color balance varies, but these are pretty much dead red.

So today we played a little event, 9 holes foursome stroke play, (alternate shot), and 9 holes scramble.  I'd say the T200s are a full club longer than my previous clubs, but launch higher.  Forgiveness on off-center strikes seems pretty good, so far I have nothing but good feelings about these clubs.  More to come.

... Good stuff Dave. I know you were stating a higher flight as a good thing, but I am amazed at how many people think they hit the ball too high. In over 35 years of golf I have played with a at most, handful of players that hit the ball too high. I had students come in for a lesson because their playing partners told them they hit the ball too high. Only once was that the case. Not to be confused with flipping and creating too much spin and ballooning with a higher ball flight, but for almost everyone that plays golf, a high ball flight is almost always better. That said you need a knockdown shot and if you live in Texas, Oklahoma or someplace open with similar constant high winds a high ball flight would of course be a disadvantage.

In general, I've had a lower-than-average ball flight through much of my golfing life.  Some of this goes back to 25-year-old instruction.  But as I've learned the game, I've learned the value of having the ability to hit it high.  I understand how to hit it lower, that's no problem, but for me its a positive to be able to hit it a bit higher when I need to.  The most important thing is that my ___-iron will clear the same tree than my old ___-iron did, and that works with the T200s.

Is there a big difference in lofts from your gamers to these?

I don't have the numbers right in front of me, but I believe the T200s are 2 or 3 degrees stronger than the AP2 714.  There's lots of talk about "loft-jacking", and I understand that some of it is marketing.  What this all means to me is that my 150-yard club (8-iron) will now launch higher than my previous 150-yard club (7-iron), when I need it to do that.  I'm not fooled into comparing 8-iron distance, what matters is how high my ____-yard club launches, can I get it over that tree?

Right exactly and that’s a big difference when you’re talking sticking your 150 club as well or any club for that matter

You’ll have to let me know if your gapping between clubs get a little too long or not. I’ve got the 714 AP2 as well and like the 4 degree split down to the 5 iron.

... Good stuff Dave. I know you were stating a higher flight as a good thing, but I am amazed at how many people think they hit the ball too high. I've never seen anyone hit the ball as high as @mr.hicksta. I'm honestly envious because every approach shot is just a long dramatic pause as you wait for the ball to come back from orbit. I don't really have issues stopping balls on the green, but I'd like to hit it higher just so I can have a little more breathing room when there are bunkers front-side of the green. Might have to try the T200s at my next fitting after hearing @DaveP043's newly-found verticality, but it will be hard to take the Mizuno fanboi out of me

When you say “full club longer”, is that comparing, for instance, 30* loft to 30* loft, or just that the T200 6 iron goes further than the other 6 iron?

Spoiler alert!

If you are looking for a magic wand to turn your terrible swings into amazing results, you may want to look elsewhere. I put every imaginable bad swing on these over the last 27 holes and I can honestly say that a bad swing still produces a bad shot!

Ok now that that is out of the way let me explain my poor attempt at humor. It is far too early to say these are forgiving or not or anything else for that matter. I just wanted to make sure that in case someone reading this review thread wasn't aware that no club will fix their swing flaws, they do now!

That’s the same feeling I had about my new driver so far. I’ve yet to find that driver which produces optimum launch and spin from nearly off the face contact.

Things will get better for you I’m sure BnG, but thanks for the reality check.

Ah the magic wand club, the amount of ads I've seen for those and yet I never see anyone using them 😂.

Thanks for your honesty, we all have to remember that no matter how good or how shiney the clubs are the flawed human on the end still has to swing it 😁😎

Another round yesterday and one on deck for this afternoon. I will be able to offer some more feedback at that point. There are definitely some things that are distinctly different.

3rd round in. Wasn't swinging good so it wasn't great. Unless there is some revelations this week these will break my heart and not be my secret weapon.
