There's also a Strava Fitbit app that could make tracking easier by just hitting start and stop when you do those. It doesn't interfere with any Fitbit challenges you may be doing. I suppose it might be interesting to see the GPS track zig zagging all over your house and yard Shankster and MattF 2 Quote In my Pisa, riding on a 3.5+ G410+ EXS 5W King F7 Hy i500 5-GW Equalizer 56/60 Heppler Ketsch Link to comment

STUDque
I just get unbearably bored with treadmills. At the gym, all of the TVs are just on the news or nature shows but running makes it feel way more repetitive than it is. Somehow, my wife can watch a whole movie on the treadmill. She's an animal but I can't hold my attention that long and the loudness of the treadmill makes it hard to concentrate. It's just too easy to hit that one button and take a step off. One thing I like about running outside is there's no "stop" button and you're done. Get sick of running outside? You've still gotta make your way home. The elements are a nice change of pace. Shankster
I did a 10k on a treadmill once. Last time I’ve stepped on one. The only reason I made it through is because The Open was live. STUDque
I may not be able to keep up with @Siamese Moose and his huge mileage but I'm happy to be back into cycling gang with this purchase: It's not the fanciest or highest tech but it's perfectly fit to me and a great entry road bike so I'm looking forward to putting in some comfortable miles. The entire fitting process was awesome. As important as fitting is in golf equipment, it's just as or more important in bikes since an improper fit doesn't just lead to wipey fades but it can cause actual injury. Since many of you may not ever go through it, here's a quick rundown.... There's no way I could've done it myself that's for sure. Lots of technology and measurements. The beginning was mostly small talk while he measured me with all kinds of different tools and tested flexibility. After the fact finding and measurements taking, he brought out a bike, made some minute adjustments, and put me up on it with a stationary lock. Then placed some sticker dots at my main joints (similar to the dots you'd use on your club face for trackman) and filmed while I rode. This video turned into a software output with lines connecting all of my joints. The lines figured angle measurements to see where my body positions measure up to ideal numbers, not unlike a trackman. Using that, he made more subtle tweaks that were actually noticeable. Fun fact: Through the body measurements he figured I could benefit from insoles too since the arch on my left foot collapses. That was an unexpected discovery but explains my knee pain. They don't sell insoles but he recommended some good ones that I ordered. There was more to it but I thought this provided a good overview. We tried 2 other bikes to get a feel for differences including some outside rides on their demo path but the first bike ended up being just right for me. I'm lucky that my unique dimensions fit one of the clearance bikes too. It reminded me a lot of my first iron fitting. You get on the technology and learn things about yourself that you never considered while being evaluated by a competent professional. And in both cases, you get a shiny new thing at the end! PS: the whole thing was done with great care and attention to COVID precautions. I came in before business hours, just the two of us, both wearing face masks, gloves for me, and regular disinfecting of touch points. Don't let my mileage freak you out! I've been racing since I was 17, and am currently putting in my volunteer time as the President of the racing team. After having had three straight seasons cut short due to injury I'm finally getting to ride as much as I want. I'm lucky that cycling for exercise is an encouraged behavior during quarantine, and I'm focused on getting back a lot of the endurance I've lost. With no races currently I'm emphasizing base endurance over power work, so that means more miles. I hope that when races come back that I return to being competitive in my age group (60-64), as well as able to hang with the non-elite youngsters. Great move to do the fit before picking a bike! Very timely and helpful too - after 2 weeks of pretty solid rides on my Specialized Hardrock, I've got consistent low back pain and some numbness in my right arm after about 20 mins of riding. At first I chalked it up to not having had enough time on the bike, but a good friend who used to ride competitively and still bikes a few hundred miles per week had me send him a video of me riding. He immediately responded that it looked like the bike was too small for me. I bought it used 9 years ago and was never fitted, so it's not surprising. My wife wants me to go pick out a bike for Father's Day for myself as an early gift, however all the shops up here are pretty much curbside only so I'm going to have to wait to get fitted. I'm having a bit of sticker shock looking at some of the prices, to be honest. Fingers crossed I can find a closeout or gently used bike that will fit me. I'm leaning more toward hybrid than road bike at this point, however we'll see what the shop fitter says once I'm able to get there. Maybe later this month? We'll see how things go up here in MA.
