Of course, I built it a few years ago but cost should be similar...

  • Net was about $60 from Amazon
  • Hitting mat was $160. Used from eBay, seller was a driving range replacing them, they had different grades, this one was in great shape
  • Flightscope Mevo $500

I can PM you the links if you want....

Yeah that would be awesome. I really appreciate it! Now I only have to convince my wife to let me set up a space in the garage! LOL

My office is my golf area where everything is stored.  I have a closet full of golf balls, tees, etc.  It's overflowing now.  With all the balls and tees  I've received, I truly never have to buy again  I have a putting green that I purchased when I first started.  I didn't use it very much, however during these times i use for putting purposes.  It's truly truly  not the same, as being in the outdoors.  It also reminds me of a time when I tried to break my nephew at a wee early age with those practice kits you could use in the yard. It was just not his thing.  Though we do share an affinity for football...

Here’s my set-up. First is the net and mat for full shots, second is the mat and a box I move around the yard for chipping practice.

I wish I had the room for one of these awesome set ups with a net etc.  Stuck in an apt. but ordered a Sklz putting. That will have to do for now.

Yeah, years ago when I lived in an apartment in Charlotte I had a shag bag and would just go to a school’s playground, or a park somewhere to hit and chip. I wouldn’t be ashamed at having a pop-up net and a mat that could be taken down to the grounds around the apartment complex...

Unfortunately I need to roll up my putting mat every night but is what it is. Then I actually have a driving range in my back yard pretty much. About 250 yards do mostly iron play but gets the job done!

Kids got better form than I do!

I work on dry swing drills. My favorite is a very simple take away to 8 o’clock followed by a forward movement to 4 o’clock. This helps me to feel the right club position from take away to impact.

This is my putting set up.. not much.

After watching some YouTube videos and some pictures from others on here an instagram, I bought a couple tarps and hangers yesterday to set up in my garage. Need to pick up a mat, not much online to order. I also ordered a G80 Garmin yesterday after reading a few reviews. Plus i can have it this week, some of the other options like the mevo was a bit out.

I was looking at the OptiShot 2 - seems like a lower cost alternative to the much more expensive SkyTrak system but the accuracy isn't quite accurate.

How do you like it as a simulator?

Optishot is more of a game than a launch monitor

If you want something to have a little fun with to pass the time, Optishot is fine. If you're looking for something to use as a practice tool and give your realistic information, Optishot isn't for you

Gotcha.... yeah, I was looking at more for the game perspective and not really 'trusting' the results; after about 200 balls into the net it gets a little boring.

About the only I'd really be comfortable trusting would be SkyTrak and at 2000+ it's not even an option....sadly. 😞

I also have the Flight Scope Mevo set up behind me while using the Optishot. Then you can adjust the Optishot's setting to reflect your actual performance. I built all this on a budget that worked for me at the time. The Flight Scope Mevo I received as a prize at a golf tournament. Using these in combination seems to be pretty good.

Wow that is super interesting. So the optishot gives you the visual feedback and the mevo gives you more realistic distances, right?

Optishot will give you the face angle ( open, closed , square ) by degrees. Also gives you swing speed. It is not perfect but by using the Mevo I got real values for spin, launch angle, carry distance and such. Then I went back into the Optishot club settings and adjusted the distance by club. So although the optishot is on the low end in simulators it has enough adjustments to make it pretty decent. I enjoy it for a home system and I didn't break the bank. You can piece things together on ebay.

Absolutely, the Optishot turf is very thin. If you swing like you are taking a slight divot it feels like you are hitting hard plastic and will break something. You probably won't, but you don't want to get in the habit of picking the ball. I did read about someone cracking the unit a few years ago. I replaced mine with one from Jagmanjoe on ebay I got the xl size which covers the entire unit. It works great and you can put a regular golf tee in it.

I also use the Mevo and find it to be very accurate. I am curious to see the New Mevo+ reviews, it is $2k and it’ll have spin axis and full simulation...

For those interested in a mat I bought it from here: https://rawhidegolfball.com/product/golf-mat/
Pricey but driving range quality and you can shoe the grade.

I also purchased the Rukket net which is unbelievable good quality and came with a tri turf mat as well (it is sold out now): https://rukket.com/collections/hitting-nets/products/rukket-haack-golf-net-10x7-bundle-with-tri-turf-hitting-mat
