Hi there!

aside of Bethpage Black, which are your favorite courses around ny.

i love Eisenower Red and White and Lido beach!
eisenower red is just a great layout with interesting holes and previously site of an US Open, the white is a beast with difficult elevated greens that require length from the tee.

lido is just great. Very underrated but has a great back 9 with water in play all over and incredible holes.

Oh man, so many good ones across the state that any of us can walk on and play.

Seven Oaks at Colgate University is a great course for all to play.

Saratoga State Park is another really great layout in great shape.

Lake Placid’s courses are made even better by their spectacular views.

NY is a pretty big state and each of the areas have a good or really good courses

Buffalo area has Seneca Hickory Stick, links at ivy ridge (DJ has the course record), Harvest Hill. I’m sure there another 2 or 3 slipping my mind.

Let's go into the Southern Tier! Links at Hiawatha Landing and En-Joie are two of my faves across the state and I'll agree with @bens197 for Seven Oaks, the State HS qualifying track for Section 3. I'm also going to the Old Forge area and picking out Thendara Golf Club, front nine is a Donald Ross, back nine Russell Bailey, all 18 are great.

I played Pelham Bay/Split Rock a bunch over the last 18 months, and have to say if it's not immediately following rain (and therefore a bit water-logged), they're beautiful and FUN courses.

Cherry Creek Links on Long Island is one of the most beautiful courses (and incredibly challenging rough) I've ever played - caveat - haven't played that many "extraordinary" courses, but man was this one pretty.

I spent two years of college in New York and I met some great golfers there! I played an interesting course called Apple Greens in Highland, NY. It was so fun since it was inside of a functioning apple orchard! As many New Yorkers know, upstate is known for their apples and even one of the greens was shaped as an apple! Tough and challenging course but super fun!

Cherry Creek in Riverhead

Crab Meadow in Northport

Harbor Links GC in Port Washington

Rock Hill in Manorville. (Difficult)

Off Long Island up in Rockland County are:

Spook Rock in Suffern

Patriot Hills in Stony Point

I also played Apple Greens in Lloyd. It was a fun course with a lot of blind shots.

Of the traditional (non-Ferry Point) New York City muni's, Split Rock is IMO by far the best and Pelham is right behind it. Also pretty decent are Dyker Beach (the front-9, the back gets pretty boring) and Forest Park (short but quirky in a good way). Van Cortland is over-hyped, La Tourrette may be the worst course I have ever played, and Clearview is booooring.

Golf Club at Middle Bay, Oceanside

-public now but used to be private. very well maintained, challenging course right along the water

Douglaston Golf Course

-city owned public course now, used to be the course for North Hills CC, but was too short for a true country club track. well maintained, relatively cheap, and fun course with lots of blind shots.
