Gmanrick 13
Hey all, Im new to the forum and thought I’d ask everyone who they think benefits and will win the Masters now that it’s late in the year? Weather be a factor? Distance minimized? Curious what you think. jaybeemaestro 28
I think maybe Rory, more a hope than anything else. But honestly, not knowing what the exact weather will be like and what kind of a run-in the players will get, I think it's a total lottery. 40% of the field could have a chance instead of the usual 20%. One thing I hope for is that whoever wins it, they get the full plaudits of being a Masters champion and it's not devalued because of the date change by any voices in the media or elsewhere. 2 1 Quote Link to comment
Striker 8
I think Rory but depends on weather. If it is cold, windy etc I think it favors the some of the Europeans that grew up playing in those types of conditions. 2 Quote Link to comment
jaybeemaestro 28
Good point on the Europeans. Two guys are cropping up for me, Zach Johnson and Louis Oosthuizen. Zach purely because if length is seriously affected then he's done it before at Augusta in less than favourable conditions. My question would be his hunger. 2 major wins is probably more than he would have expected with his lack of length and does he have one more in him. Oosthuizen just due to temperament, that beautiful swing and being close around there before. Pure guesswork though. The Masters was always my favourite though, then the British Open. The US Open is more important than the US PGA but thetvalways ruin it with the set-up. 1 Quote Link to comment
CO2planker 15
I would say TW benefits the most. He has several months now to get his body in top physical condition and prepare for the coveted 6th green jacket. 1 1 Quote Link to comment
blackngold_blood 6,858
A couple guys thinking Rory but I’m gonna go the opposite. I think Rory benefits the least of any golfer for the simple fact that he was clearly playing better golf than anyone going into the shutdown. Others who were struggling can now practice during this lockdown. We all know they have simulators in their house.
