Golf courses closed during Covid-19 pandemic

Recommended Posts

I live in South FL, our courses have been closed for 2-3 weeks has anyone else experienced this during the pandemic.  Our local track had to rope off the course as people were treating it like a public park.  I know most of the state of FL golf courses are still open as social distancing is rather easy in golf any other experiences out there like this?

Mississippi Gulf Coast here: most courses here are open, although most driving ranges are closed. With one exception, the courses that closed are owned by casinos; when the casinos closed the courses closed too. They have put in rules for social distancing, some strictly, some lax. Thank goodness I can still play.

SoCal here. All have been closed 4 weeks. A few counties in mid-CA have allowed courses to open, but not near here. There's a pretty vocal groups on Facebook that loves to find people playing golf, walking on beaches, going to the park....and take pictures and shame them on the internet. It is a shame when a dad and his son our for a quick 9 alone get accused of being idiots and wanting people to die. Luckily, we get to see a daily inspiration message from LA mayor Eric Garcetti, and everyone feels much better for a few minutes each day. Oh boy, it's almost time for today's inspirational message!

SoCal is finally pulling golf courses off the lockdown list. Tee times are going fast right now.

... Just announced Illinois golf courses will re-open May 1st with restrictions!!!  Those restrictions have not been specified but I imagine they will be similar to to other states. I am so grateful to be able to get back out in nature and play golf again.

Probably similar to the restrictions we have. Carts and/or people no closer that 10 feet. Only sharing a cart with family members you live with. No driving range. No congregating on teh clubhouse. Carts sterilized between uses.

One weird thing. I've noticed a huge number of perfectly sound tees lying around tee boxes. People afraid to pick up the tee they just used????

I saw that Riverside and Orange County were reopening.  I haven't seen anything about San Diego County doing the same.  I am hopeful they will follow suit.  I may have to make the drive up to Temecula to get a round played.

Callaway Driver, 4 and 7 fairways.  Mizuno 923 Hot Metal 6-LW.  A friend told me my swing is as smooth as Tennessee Whiskey.  If so, I often think it may have come out of the barrel to soon.

Some friends texted that our course had tee time bookings for May 4; we are joining them.  However, that may just be wishful thinking on our golf course's part since our governors edict closed courses on March 23 until May 4.  I haven't heard anything, but our idiot governor very likely could extend the lockdown.

IF/when we open, we will probably have the same restrictions that our course implemented for the week before we were shut down.

We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”
