Footjoy BOA Lace System

Recommended Posts

I got a pair of Footjoys for Christimas with the BOA lacing system. I really like it, but it doesn't look like Footjoy offers it any more. Why didn't people like it? I think it's really convenient - almost like slippers coming on and off...

I caddied for a local country club a couple years ago and my player and his partner both had these on. This was before I had ever seen them, and it was really weird. On the final day, after they had paid me of course, I asked them what the rocket boosters on the back of their shoes were, and they said they were the laces. I've never tried them for myself, but have only heard good things. It's too bad they don't make them anymore.

(PS. I really hope I am talking about the same things as you. I saw BOA and assumed it was the odd lacing system I had seen)

I bought a pair of Footjoys with the BOA system late last year because they were dirt cheap and honestly I haven't had any issues with them. I actually love the lacing system. It is really quick and easy to make sure they are the right fit. Instead of having to retie your shoes you just turn a knob in the back and your ready to roll.

I think maybe they could work with it a little more to perfect it because I think the BOA system is amazing.

I owned a pair of the Dryjoys with BOA, and while I loved the fit, I hated the fact that I kicked them open on every 25th step. Incredibly annoying. I returned them after they started leaking and got some more Ecco's. :)

Wow. That doesn't sound good. How many rounds before that started happening?

It was like a year. It rains a lot here, and I must have gotten a bad pair. That said, Footjoy's have a stellar reputation for keeping players feet dry. do not let my one bad pair throw you off.

Good to know. I've had them with me on about 6 trips to the dome so far without an issue but obviously that is a lot different than wearing them "in the wild".

It doesn't rain in the dome??? I may be from Oregon, but I know that rain only falls outside.. most of the time.

No, that's my point. Doming it doesn't put any shoe through its paces. I might as well be wearing them around the house. Once we start playing outdoors, then the elements get involved and that is when a shoe really shows its mettle.

I LOVE my footjoy reelfit. I saw some at my local golf store. I think they were superlite or something like that. I thought I heard they were gonna be available thus year in a few styles.

Isn't the BOA and Realfit essentially the same thing. What's the difference?
