Started at 65 and have been playing 8 years. Wish I started at 6.
So that's how you get to play so much. I saw an earlier post of yours and I was wondering how you posted 5x the rounds as I did..

I've got a bad case of OCD and it applies to everything I do. I think my wife secretly enjoys it because it gets me out of her hair for several hours a day 😂

I started at the Lighted Nine golf course and driving range in 1960 at the ripe old age of 10.  Picked balls by hand on the driving range in exchange for golf privileges and a penny a ball.  My dad cut some of his old clubs down for me and showed me how to hold the club..go get em tiger.  I guess that means that I have been playing for 60 years..minus a couple of tours in places where they either did not have golf courses or I did not have clubs.  Like one of the other posters..I am satisfied with my game and the opportunities that golf has provided.  I might add that many golfing partners have come and gone..but none of them is forgotten and they are all appreciated.

My wife and I were pretty active sailors - we would typically take 4-6 weeks every summer and sail the Great Lakes. Plus racing every Sunday. Sailing and golf compete for the season/weather.

Then about 8 years ago we decided to sell our sailboat since we just weren't using it as much and had already moved to the Lake. Prior to taking up golf I had a pretty simplistic view of the game - I never understood how complex it was or the strategy involved. Since then I've become obsessive about it.

Small world. My 15 year hiatus from golf was for hardcore sail racing on Lake Michigan. We kept a boat in Port Clinton for a year late 80’s, sailed out to Put-in-Bay several times, and Pelee and Kelleys once each. We also sold our fifth and last boat in 2017, now we just daysail/casual race OPB occasionally.

In the mid 1980's I sailed a Macgregor 25' behind the locks on the Snake and Columbia Rivers.  No racing, just cruising.  Then interests changed in the 1990's which is when took up golf.

I did go out on a powerboat from Put-in-Bay in the 90's a couple of times.  I think it was a Sea Ray, maybe 34 feet.

We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

It was somewhere in my 30s when I bought a set of clubs and played "some" golf, but not much.  When I retired from the service at age 38, I found the passion to play and began regularly.  I'm 68 now, so playing the game for 30 years, but fiddled around with it for more like 35.

Played my first tournament at 13, hacked it around the yard and fields a bit before that. Two day tournament in 8th grade. I won and was hooked.

That was 48 years ago. There was some time in there when raising kids when golf was more rare.

Not sure of the exact age, but I played in the Ann Arbor Junior Open at 12. I finished third in my flight, choking on the last day, which I started tied for first! My Dad was a HS golf coach, and he didn’t take me on a full-size course until I could play Pat’s Par Three course well, and hit the ball far enough. Pat’s is now Miles of Golf!
I guess I started around 8 or 9, so I’ve been swinging a club for 40+ years...

I hit my first Golf Ball at the ripe young age of 40. Due to conflicts throughout the world from 2003 to 2009 I played very intermittently. Since the summer of 2009 I’ve played pretty consistently at least once a week. I did take a fall off a mountain in 2016 that took me out for about 120 days.
