PMookie
Worth the $? I was considering one.I think so. The quality of construction is really top notch. Normal caps I buy have thin materials in the brim, sweat band, etc. These are made of a much better quality. Thicker materials, and better for absorbing sweat/moisture. Grit Golf
This thread rocks! I got mild sun sickness after a long round last week (while wearing spf 50 no less). I seem to get zapped once or twice a year and wind up with a pounding headache after the round despite hydrating and wearing spf 50. I was planning on switching from a ball cap to a wide brim style hat as a result, many good recommendations here! jbsdaddy 1 Quote “He’s a Cinderella story. SPF only helps with sun damage to the skin, but not with avoiding heat-related exhaustion or worse. That is a whole body issue. Hat helps, but more look to hydration or to clothing or towels that cool with evaporation. Don’t forget electrolytes when hydration. I just bought these electrolyte packets called liquid iv from Costco, I'm going to give that a try. The cooling towels are a good tip. I'm trying to be smarter about it. I'm half considering the rash guard/under armour type fisherman's shirts as well, bit I don't know if that would help or hurt w the heat? Quote “He’s a Cinderella story. Would be interested to hear your experience with the liquid IV. I've heard of them in use for other sports applications. Summer golf in AZ gets HOT! Electrolyte replacement is crucial. I've been making my own electrolyte concoction for a while. Played in 112° yesterday and this seemed to keep me mostly balanced. I still have calf and toe cramps though come night time. 1 gallon drinking water 4 T honey 2 T apple cider vinegar 2 T Morton's lite salt (see sodium and potassium) the more I practice, the luckier I seem to get.. thatjasonlee
I've always been just a flat brim cap kinda guy until all this cancer talk! Seriously though, it's been on my list for a while now to start being a lot safer under the sun. I was, and still am that guy that never wears sunscreen because I don't burn. That's the first thing to change this year. I've been thinking about moving to a bucket hat for a bit more protection. I wanted to try the Greg Norman, but I do not think I can pull that off. I have bought two of the Magellan long sleeve fisherman shirts at academy. They are 30 spf/upf. They are moisture wicking, so you don’t have a soaking wet shirt during your round. I dont feel hotter in them, but playing in long sleeves took some getting used to.
