My regular course is walking only while the Covid-19 stay in place measures are in force, though many other local courses are allowing (motorized) carts. How about you? I’m only curious about open courses, so no “other” vote. Thanks.

Walking only means no senior league for us as many players can’t manage walking 18, 6-7 miles up and down hills. Bummer.

We have carts here.  They are one rider per cart unless you are immediate family living in the same household.  No way to truly enforce that but it's the guideline.  Personal carts are also allowed but still with only one rider per cart.

We are running our fleet at one rider per car. It has put lots of pressure on the outside services team to clean and sanitize double the number of cars that we would usually each day. There is also something about seeing groups of 4 cars on every tee and fairway that looks wrong...

We are not open yet, but have had planning meetings and laid out our plans.  On the topic of carts. We are a 36 hole facility, so this is our plan once we are able to open.

One course will be 100% walking.

The other course will be 1 rider carts, with tee times spread out at 15 minutes as opposed to 10.    This will eliminate two tee times per hour, also every four hours we will block out some tee times, to give us a chance to get carts back in and cleaned.  We have approximately 150 carts, so we should be fine.

My course did that for a week before the shutdown, and I expect that to happen when we reopen.  Our pro sat on the deck and was lamenting about the number of carts on the tee boxes.  My wife and I couldn't ride together when we play with her brother from Seattle.  The course was short of carts at 1pm, so I gave up my cart and walked.

I guess we will find out next Monday.  I haven't heard if the courses will open in WA on May 4, but they are acceptation tee time reservations!!!

I suspect that’s why my regular course is walking only. It would clearly be more expensive to double the number of carts plus sanitize them far more thoroughly between rounds - so players would have to be willing to pony up more $?

Maybe this virus will hasten adoption of single rider carts, IIRC there was a MGS FP article on that within the past year? Odds are this won’t be our last pandemic, though hopefully they won’t be frequent.

My course is one rider per cart unless you're a family member living in the same house, but I walk anyway. I think they've lengthened the tee times to 10 minutes as well.

I keep thinking it looks like a kiddie ride at a fair, the rows of carts snaking along the paths.

This is where all of our courses are at.  One per cart, unless family members, longer spacing between tee times.  I've been walking as much as possible as courses are crowded. it cuts down on any waiting between shots.

That's pretty standard fare on all the private courses I've been on including the one we belong to. Everyone's cart is set up for their preferences; everything from side curtains and heaters to Bluetooth speakers.

Completely fine with a few groups of 4 or 5 individuals in their private cars. That makes complete sense at a private club.

I still think that it looks wrong...

Saskatchewan, Canada:

  • Courses open May 15, in time for long weekend.
  • Carts allowed: singles only, unless both riders are from same household.
  • Cups will be raised - contact with cup indicates 'made' putt. Flags left in hole. No ball washers or rakes in bunkers.
  • Tee times 20 minute intervals.
  • Restaurants and bars closed. May have window service.
  • Not sure about washrooms / restrooms. I'l probably take my own sanitizing wipes, hand gel, etc.

I've played 3 different courses since all of this started. The one closest to me started simply by recommending one-rider carts before deciding to make the course walking only. Another course I've frequented have done one-rider carts and it doesn't seem like they'll be changing that. The most recent course I played has been walking only from the outset.

The course with carts is the one I've frequented the most lately - not because of the carts, but because it is the course my friends like to play. I'd probably frequent the course I played last week more often if I could, but my buddies here aren't as big on the walking.

One per cart here. Most of the people at my local course would usually use a cart but a large chunk of them are walking now. Being a regular walker myself, it's interesting to see that the walkers out number the cart riders for the time being.

Course I play most has carts out today with a plastic divider down center from windshield to back of seat.

Other course I play, only one per cart (two if related/living together), private carts with same rules.

Our courses here allow one player per cart.  Mandatory to leave flagstick in, no sand divot fill bottles, no scorecards and no pencils (bring your own scoring devices). They spaced out tee times further to reduce groups on a tee box waiting.  No handshakes, fist bumps or high fives, no congregating/socializing after the round, practice limited to 20 minutes since range dividers are spaced out further.  .......things like that.

Played yesterday, 1 person per cart. I felt somewhat safe. They had pool noodles around the pins so that the ball couldnt drop in the hole. Social distancing was definitely happening, so as long as they were cleaning the carts as they say.

What I can tell you I did enjoy the round less than normal. Tuesday is my weekly round with my dad, not being in the same cart and being able to chat with him took away some of the enjoyment.

My club is doing the same things, and I think most of us players are pretty consistent with keeping our distance from one another.  But I understand what you mean about it being less enjoyable with just one person per cart.  This is one of the reasons I've enjoyed getting back to walking over the past couple of years.  Even with normal carts, you spend most of your time with just one person in a foursome, the one you're paired with in the cart.  If you have four walkers, you can spend time with each of the other three, or in any combination.  I don't know if walking is an option for either you or your dad, but if you can do it, its a way of getting some of the enjoyment back.

I'd be willing to walk but my dad couldnt make it. When we played at Oakmont CC where its only walking they ended up giving him and our host a cart
