But you have to keep doing it.  If you take time off, a lot of the gain goes away.  Try to keep a set time every other day to do the protocol

This is so true - I didn't loose it all but much of it.  I don't want to poison the waters too much here, our testers need to do exactly what Superspeed is calling for in order to see the full benefits of the program but I'm not doing 3 days a week this second time around and I've gotten to just about my top speeds from the first time around in far less time - first, I started out a bit faster and second I think my body is remembering what to do.  I'm also starting to see that speed resurface on the course.  I've hit some jaw dropping drives (for me) the last couple of rounds - 15, 20 yards past a guy that a month ago was hitting as long as me.

I'm intending to keep it up through the summer - that's not easy in Florida, it's ridiculously hot - I've been doing twice a week instead of 3 times to give my body a rest and I've not upped the reps to 4 either - Again, as a tester I did it exactly the way Superspeed prescribed it.

Great job to our testing group - keep it coming.

Current and former testers along with @SuperSpeed Golf: I'm adapting @B.Boston spreadsheet for capturing data. The question I have is how important is it to capture data for each side (dominant/non-dominant) and for each exercise regular, step change, etc. Or do you just capture the highest SS number for each of the clubs per day. I'm data oriented but on the other hand don't want to spend time capturing data that won't provide value in the future.

Just capturing data for  swings from a normal address position.  No need to capture non-dominant side swings

Jlukes, is that true? We were required to supply both sides the first go round.

I used to grab the fastest swing for each drill dominant and non-dominant.

Yes. The tracking spreadsheet we are asked to fill out only accounts for dominant side swings.

I'm tracking non dominant for my own records, but the official tracker is dominant only

Wait until you guys hit the kneeling swings. I’m on my third week of those the second time around and it just plain hurts. 😞

Here was a regular driver swing hitting a few balls after my session.

I gave up on the kneeling swings and just do feet together now. So much more comfortable. Maybe not getting exactly the same benefit, but my knees thank me. 🤷‍♂️

Alright Spies, update time.

First off, today was my second day of the Level 1 Week 1 training protocol.  Like some of my other spies will attest, my core was sore after that first session.  My left oblique was particularly tight.  My chest was sore from my weight lifting workout on Monday as well.

However, the good news.  I started with a max dry swing speed of 124mph.  After the first session it jumped to 126mph.  Today, I hit 130mph!

1369919959_image0(2).jpeg.dbc7a411b7afb0be44494d6088835139.jpeg

I will say that I feel as though the PRGR was not reading all that well on some swings today.  It was very cloudy, but I just don't know.  I may have to switch to a face on positioning rather than a down the line to see if that helps.  By not reading well, I mean there were swings with my non-dominant side that were faster than some of my dominant side swings.  Regardless, other things of note were that prior to the start of the training, my mode was 119mph with dry swing drivers. Today, I hit 120 or 121 most times for the mode.  Slow and steady wins the race!

I have no doubt the protocols work, so I'm really just as interested to see impressions of the PRGR. I have the older radar and sometimes feel like it misreads occasionally, or is drastically affected by small position changes.

Once I get a chance to test my swing speed and ball speed on GC Quad with my fitter, I’d like to put the PRGR next to it and see how it compares with the industry leader.

I feel you! I breezed through Level 1 and made decent progress, but 1 week into the Level 2 Protocol and having to kneel got me to just give up.

I just got myself a PRGR Launch Monitor and that's got me excited to start the program again and hopefully not give up this time around.

Anyone here know how to change the unit on the PRGR? Change from MPH to M/S? I've been trying to figure it out but can't seem to find anything about that.

Unfortunately, the radar is not technically part of the review - we are just using it to track relative changes. With that being said, like @ChasingScratch said, I also intend to take it some place to compare to a professional launch monitor once we start opening up more.

I didn't see that in the instructions. A couple of thoughts - reach out to PRGR another would be to just log the current info and use a conversion app.

I just finished my first week of the level 1 training. I have to tell ya, I already see a difference. After warming up, I hit a few balls to get a “before”. I hit a really good drive and it clocked at 102mph (which is 2 mph faster than when I started on Monday). When I finished the regiment, I pulled out the driver for an “after” number. First shot I hit an absolute BOMB. I was as far back at my range as I could go and I didn’t quite carry it out the back, but it definitely rolled into the back woods. Farthest drive I’ve ever hit I think. Clocked at 109 mph

Ugh, just finished the 3rd workout of the week. I’m beat. I’ve been on an aggressive fat loss calorie goal the past month and a half and I think it might be time to up the carbohydrates a little. . This is tough to do on a large deficit each day. That and I increased my weight for my weight lifting workouts this week, so that probably isn’t helping.

If it sounds like I’m making excuses, I’m not, I’m just trying to inform fellow Spies that this program is not something to take lightly. You need to be well-rested, well-fed, and have as little soreness as possible. Take it from my personal experience.

While I hit a PR of 138mph with the green stick (normal swing), I still think the PRGR was struggling with the readings. It was very cloudy again today, so I don’t know if that has something to do with it. Just looking at video and listening to the sound, I can tell I’m faster than my pre-test swings at least.

I’ll try to get my Week 1 review video and initial impressions posted by Sunday at the latest!

Awesome! It’s rewarding when you see gains so quickly! Now imagine what you’ll do with a real golf ball and not a range rock.

Just finished up the final session on my Week 1 and really like the early results I am seeing.  After I warm up, I get my driver speed before proceeding with the drills.  It was nice to see that that my starting driver speed was 111mph today, while it had been 109 at the beginning of the first two sessions.

2025181780_SuperspeedWeek1.png.fde7c235b936d3066b27f7425e51c0a9.png

The above speeds are all reflective of max power swings done from a standard address position; I am not tracking speed on Step-Through Swings.  It is encouraging to see gains from session to session, and that is what I saw with each stick.  My left handed swings are a bit sporadic, but that is mainly due to me feeling like a baby fawn taking his first steps when I swing from the left side.

The sessions have been fun to do and they are certainly a workout.  Stretching and warming up is key because I could see how easy it would be to strain a muscle if taking such big swings with cold muscles.

As I mentioned in my intro, I was swinging about 111-112mph at the end of last season, but the lack of activity during the pandemic slowed be down to about 109mph.  Really happy to see my base of 111mph appear before doing the protocols today.  Will be curious to see where I end up at the end of this as the 5% gain on 109mph would put me around 114-115, but a 5% gain on 112mph would put me over 117mph.  Based on what I am seeing thus far, I would think my first plateau will end up being around the 117mph mark, and hopefully that means I can get to 120 on all out swings by the end of the program.  Being that fast on all out swings would give me a playing speed of around 115-117mph, which I would be thrilled about.

I am playing 18 tomorrow at an extremely familiar course, so I am anxious to see if I am dealing with any new-found distance yet.

First week is complete:

image.png.70a7f855448176e88d7545df3da3e63e.png

Started out great, then flattened out later in the week, not that I expected that trend to continue. Being stuck on 111 is not a concern to me since it is still 15 mph above where I ultimately started. Hoping next week to crack 111 with the driver and 120 with the green stick. I have to wonder how much is related to mechanics and my body needs to figure out what it needs to do to get more speed.

Stay tuned....

I know I’m swinging faster on week 5, but my drives are out of sync now so they’re actually flying 20 yards shorter. That’ll come with time though. I smoked a 5 wood 265-270 twice today though, further than my driver.

Stats: 5'4", Male, R-Handed, Moderate Tempo, Driver SS 115mph

Driver: Taylormade SiM Max 9*, TM Ventus Blue 6X
3w/5w: Callaway X-Hot, S-flex Fubuki shafts
3h: Tour Edge EXS Pro, Smoke Black 80g 6.0
4i-PW: Mizuno MP-4, DG S300
Wedges: Titleist SM7
56* Wedge: Callaway Jaws w/ 12* of bounce

Maybe you need a stiffer and/or heavier shaft to accommodate the extra speed?

Maybe. I think it’s a timing issue. The ball is just soaring on me. Has to be going 140 feet at the apex and falling to the right. Not quite a slice, and I played it really well today, hitting 9/14 fairways.

Not sure how to make the change on the PRGR, but if you multiply your M/sec x 2.237 that will give you MPH.

I have had a similar situation going on. I have been losing weight over the past few months and unable to lift and it has really stunted any gains on my numbers I've hit the dreaded plateau. Can only do so many things at once haha.

Yeah I’ve been able to make small gains in strength, but it’s like I used to tell my students, “It’s impossible to add to your house if you’re taking away building materials.”

When I was powerlifting, I was eating 3,500 calories a day only weighing in the 160s.

So I think I can put the fat loss on standby (at least not so aggressive) so I can have the energy needed for this training.

138? That's a 'dreaded plateau' I'd love to be on.

Yeah, I saw that too and tried it, but sadly no luck. Thank you thought!

Yeah, that's what I did. I set up excel sheet to convert my numbers directly. So as soon as I get done inputting my data, I find out my speed in the correct UOM.

Great results in the just 1 week. Excited to see how the rest of the program goes for you!

For those that did the first round of testing or for the SuperSpeed folks.  Is there any sort of protocol/warm-up routine with the sticks that is beneficial to use right before a round?

I believe that @revkev is or was doing the dynamic warm up before a round.

I'll do the dynamic warm-up before the round, too. SuperSpeed initially recommended it, but I saw on their Instagram page a few months back they had the end of it and went from just 10 swings with the heavy stick to this.20190228_100537.thumb.jpg.b3b5618df6fec714a8420b315095938c.jpg
