Today was a slow day for SuperSpeed across the board with all of the sticks and the entire protocol. Not sure if it was the time of day, fatigue or whatever. I definitely wasn't in the mood so I 'forced ' myself - thinking a slow day is better than not doing it. After all a commitment is a commitment.

@SuperSpeed Golf - apologize if this has been asked previously. i do crossfit style workouts 5 days a week. trying to figure out the best way to incorporate the superspeed program around that. is it better to do the superspeed program before my workout or after?

I'm on vacation next week and had planned to rest too, have some nagging aches & pains around my left shoulder, elbow and thumb...this week ended up being pretty crazy, ended up taking it off as well.  Hopefully I'll heal up a bit 😉

With the exception of one skipped workout, I have been able to stay on schedule. Today was day 2 of Level 3. The step change is replaced with the double step. Adding a 4th swing at every swing type is a bit more tiring. I'm glad the weather has been cooler this week.

Speeds were good - I hit 128 on all three final green stick swings, so I was a bit disappointed to only reach 117 in my final driver swings. Maybe I was trying too hard since I know there is more in the tank.

I did a work out today at 1 -

I'm just doing maintenance to keep the speed up and get me to some cooler weather - I failed at this last summer - let the heat get to me - I have hung in there this year - level 0ne twice a week since I made it to the end of level 2 back in June - I intend to pick up with level 3 towards the end of September (it's a bit less humid at that point.)

Today was brutal - so humid - dew point index in the high 70's, I went through two tee shirt and three gloves in 30 minutes.  It's just hard to keep your clubhead speed up when you feel like the club is going to come flying out of your hand.  Still my speeds were acceptable, not top end but reasonably close enough and I certainly was moving the ball out there on the course in yesterday's round despite it being windy, wet and again extremely humid - because we played at 2 we caught a sea breeze after 5 or 6 holes - the way that shifted we only had 2 down wind holes the entire round.  Despite that I still managed a personal best drive on 1 hole - it's normal driver 6 iron or even 9 wood into the wind and driver 7 or 8 iron down wind (long and narrow green.)  Yesterday I had driver/PW to a back pin and hit my approach shot past pin high (I did that a lot in the round.)

I'm very happy with the results of Superspeed round two.  Sorry that I ever stopped last summer.

First day of level 2 week 4 today. Man I felt fast!!!!! Buuutttttt, radars didn’t show anything crazy. I definitely felt refreshed. I did have both a PRGR and a SwingSpeed radar going. I was able to catch missed swings with either or, which was nice. When PRGR would read 10mph slower than the previous swing, SSR would pick it up (and vice versa). Driver wasn’t spectacular. Again, suspect. All in all, happy to be swinging hard and having mental energy to do so.

It was also my son’s (1st grade) first day of virtual learning, so that was entertaining and frustrating all at the same time.

A few questions for @SuperSpeed Golf:

1. The biggest gains I've made in protocol 2 are in the kneeling portion - is that typical?

2. Except for kneeling exercise, my numbers are up or down by 2-3 mph. What would you consider statistically significant as a percentage increase in mph that indicates gains made.

3. I am now tending to be faster on the non-dominant side - especially the kneeling exercise. Is that because I'm subconsciously holding myself back on the dominant side? Note: As background, a couple of years ago I slowed down my swing favoring accuracy/dispersion over distance.

I have certainly been the opposite, I have felt a bit sluggish and the results have been steady. Not really any big changes and the highs certainly haven't been super high. Its a plateau that hopefully will break through. Definitely have noticed that more rotation helps or atleast what feels like more rotation, I haven't seen what effect it has on the course as of yet though.

I had this with driver on the range today - next shot (the one on the tee) was 104 and then I revisited 111 followed by 102. Ironically or perhaps not the 104 and 102 swings were better drives. 111 is my fastest ever while hitting a live shot.

This happened tonight....

Screenshot_20200825-194826.jpg.eb3c6d55ad59668162b05aeee4e53845.jpg

Yeah, so there was some helping wind and the fairways were HARD, but I'll take it.

I left the eagle putt about 6" inches short 🤬.

Our league plays the senior tees for just this hole (hence the 8 iron 2nd shot). Normal tees are back about another 100 yards. Tee shot is uphill and many in our league are retired, so we voted on moving up to help them out.

Warmed up great - hit 115 on my 9th dynamic warm up swing with the blue which I use for that. First green swing was 123, tied my record and I wanted 125 so bad that I could taste it.

Sadly so did my radar - just nipped it bit the damage is done.

So do I go new radar or PXR thingy? For those who have both do they record similar speeds? It seems like the PXR is far less likely to get hit and it records ball speeds. How accurate do you think it is? Is it worth the extra $100?

Thanks in advance for your input.

Isn't that the second unit to get "nipped"?

Well that sucks... As for the PRGR monitor I have liked it and it has worked for me. There is a little bit more variance with the numbers, but a lot of the time they show the same numbers for me. I have actually had the radar miss more swings recently then the PRGR. Taking your time and finding the right positioning for it is important, but it is a good little device!

Dang...

Just finished up the first protocol.  Was not expecting the workout.  Hard to hang on to them with the humidity.  Used a rubber tee to simulate having a ball there.

@ChasingScratch the PRGR doesn’t seem to like you haha. Time to get the GC Quad😉

@revkev either will work. As you know the Swing Speed Radar has the advantage of being very simple by only measuring club head speed. You may get more funky numbers with it than the PRGR but it serves it purpose fairly well.

The PRGR just acts more like your Rapsodo to a degree with more metrics measured. So it can be better used while hitting a ball or without. It packs a lot of value for that price point.

@tony@CIC since the kneeling position is new yes that can easily happen. Also, most people have never attempted swinging from their knees so coordination improves a lot.

2. we are looking for around a 3.5%-4 gain from level 2 or into Level 3. This is very individual so we are looking for you to work through the protocols and then hopefully see another significant spike.

3. It could be since this is the new pattern with no really motor pattern reps previously. Starting from scratch so to speak. Make sure you are allowing the pelvis to rotate along with the neck and upper back when kneeling. Sometimes you may restrict yourself without knowing. If you can video yourself and compare the side it may give clues.

Since @SuperSpeed Golf mentioned the Advanced Speed Protocol tests, I did them at the range before league tonight. For those that aren't aware of them, the first is a turf tear test to see if you are using the ground effectively (do you damage the turf if you stand in the same spot for 5-10 swings) - I passed. The second is measuring the speed of a half swing (left arm only goes back to parallel). If it is not within 7% of full swing, they have a protocol to improve turn/rotation - I failed with about a 10% difference. The final one is a lag test where you measure wrist angles at the top and just after starting the downswing - with proper lag, the angle between forearm and shaft should get a little smaller when looking at those two points in the swing - mine was basically the same. Question for @SuperSpeed Golf: is it safe assume I should substitute the second advanced protocol until the half swing gets faster then start the third? I'm due to start Level 3 tomorrow, so it might be a good time to mix in some different training.

On the range, I had quite a few swings in the 114-116 mph range with a ball present, so the speed is definitely there, I just have to work on repeatable center contact and figuring out where the ball is going.

This happened tonight:

Screenshot_20200818-194711.jpg.040ce665c841d7f013e9e5bce3126796.jpg

I had pulled the ball slightly on the first driver hole, so I aimed at the cluster of trees. Of course I hit it dead straight and it actually carried the trees. I've never been past those trees before.

Sorry for the long post....

@MaxEntropy glad you went through the tests. Let’s add the ASD 3 within the next week and removed one day of the Level 3. Report how it goes to make sure everything is working well.

@SuperSpeed Golf - apologize if this has been asked previously. i do crossfit style workouts 5 days a week. trying to figure out the best way to incorporate the superspeed program around that. is it better to do the superspeed program before my workout or after?

@dlow206 we would recommend performing SuperSpeed on an off day or at the beginning of a workout after a dynamic warmup. The goal is to be physically fresh when training so if it done after a workout it typically doesn’t work out as well.

Here is my Modified Level 2 Week 4 video.  I've made some changes to how I edit for brevity.

1) I've eliminated the back swings of all but the first swing of an exercise, but you are still seeing all three swings per exercise.

2) I've put only the fastest speed at the top right for each exercise.  So if the green stick read 131, 132, 136, I only put 136 (I felt the other way I did it had the speeds flashing too fast - no pun intended)

I should be getting on GC Quad again on the 12th of September (after Week 6) to make sure that I'm not regressing in speed.  I really don't think I am, but you never know.

Today was session 5 of level 3. The timing on the double-step is steadily improving....

J/k, note the battery level. Swapped them out and things returned to normal, but those 4 swings did feel pretty fast (min of those 4 read 140 - yeah, right 🤣).

Be on the lookout for my stage 2, which will drop some time in the next week.
