So I'm a little concerned with what I've been seeing on the course and now my range session today.
A slice.
I haven't sliced the ball in 7 years and since starting Super Speed I am starting to see one creep into my game. Not sure if it's the speed training throwing off my sequencing or what. Going to have to keep an eye on it.

You get video? Any additional right shoulder creeping-up and coming over the top a tad?

Good thought! I am wondering if it’s a true slice that starts left or a blocked fade that starts right. I block fade mine, hands way out in front, path right, face more right.

A little bit of both. Open face for sure. Path varies now.

Hoping with time my sequencing will improve with the new speed

And on off days that I don’t play golf, I make slow motion swings in the backyard trying to hit an 8 iron 25 yards with a full swing. It gives me a nice blend of speed, tempo, and face control.

I've never heard of doing this type of drill, but it seems like a sound idea. I'm going to have to give it a try!

Thanks! I stole the idea from Greg Norman, who said low handicappers should learn to swing at 50% and still feel acceleration through the ball.

I am sold...going to go buy this tomorrow.

That said, I don't have the coin to get the radar too...am I wasting my time then?  I mean, I'll still improve, it will just be harder to quantify by how much...right?

I got the Japanese version of the PRGR, costs about $100 shipped, off eBay, its basically the same thing with UoM as M/S instead of MPH. Everything else is basically the same. If you can, get that.

I did the program for a few week without a radar and got bored of it as I couldn't see numerical/tangible results, having a radar helps you understand your progress and keeps you motivated.

Ok. so I am not an official tester but wanted to share my week 1 results with y'all. I feel like a weekly check-in will keep me going and won't let me quit even when I stop seeing progress.

image.thumb.png.8b665d34fa8389041397a6364314f198.png

Last Friday, I did more of a dry run to see where I stand before I start the program to set a baseline, I didn't do a warm-up and did the training at around mid-night.

The program officially started this past Monday, in the evenings with the Dynamic Warm-up, and we can see that with 3 days of training my Driver speed has increased by almost 5 MPH (ignore the Monday Driver After, as that was a misread but I couldn't get the PRGR to read the driver properly because of low light). All other speeds have more or less stayed consistent, I'm not exactly sure why, I can't find myself to break 111 MPH with the Green club in the final 3 swings, but I'm hopeful, I know I'll get there.

Are there any tips that y'all can offer to get better results?

More lag = club face takes longer to square perhaps? If the shaft is too soft, it could be lagging perhaps.

Or in an effort to swing faster you’ve started coming out to in?

Just spitballing.

When I swing all out my tendency is also a push fade.

Yeah definitely not equipment or lag related. More related to how I am rotating and how active my hands are.

Back is a little better today.  Hoping to pick back up where I left off on Monday.  The weekend will tell me a lot.  I'm missing pushing the limits of speed!  I can already tell it feels like a small family to be a part of this SuperSpeed group.  How awesome would it be to get together sometime and just launch bombs!

That would be a blast. I'd be the guy hitting high flares to the right. At least they'd travel further than before. 🤣

Went out for a quick 9 holes today . Been raining for two days now.. consistently seeing driver distance 220 yards .. with long today 237. Now I will say that I’ve been taking lessons as well as using this system and had what I would consider a significant come to Jesus moment with my swing last week that has been an awakening on the course . Hit my sim max 3 wood 225 off the tee today, finding myself consistently between clubs now.. I’ve only used 9 iron 2 times in the last 27 holes. It’s exciting but frustrating to see this all come together

Feeling today’s workout tonight. But it’s a good sore, if that makes sense.

To the new group I’d say that you should expect ups and downs. Lots of flat weeks and some times where your swing is off as your body adjusts to more speed or is tired after a workout. It passes - it’s a marathon not a sprint.

All of us added speed in level one. About half of us had a jump at the end of level 2. The ones who didn’t had the jump early level 3.

My second jump was the last day of level two and it was greater than the level 1 jump.

I seem to be there, at a jump, 3 weeks into level 2 this go round. It’s showing up for real too which is nice.

What you do with the sticks doesn’t always square with for real but it does catch up. I got to a point the first time around where people were asking me how far my drive went.

The beauty of today’s workout was that it was a typical Florida summer day - 90’s, high humidity, just what made me quit last year.

I tolerated it well today. I hope to plough through the summer.

Week 2 is complete:

image.png.6aa279ee19dca04fa5b3c4c058c5851b.png

My before and after driver speeds are starting to converge. As I recall, this is expected in the first phase and there should be another jump in phase two. To me, this indicates I am developing some muscle memory and my body is remembering what it needs to do to generate more speed.

I really need any of the ranges near me to open so I can figure what this means to my swing with a ball and make any adjustments. Even though my big miss is a high, flared slice, it seems to happen a little more often since I have been doing this training. I know @jlukes and others discussed a similar issue he had, so I am somewhat comforted that I'm not the only one. My biggest concern is I tend to be less aware of what's going on with my swing, so fixing it might take some time. After I reach the plateau may be the perfect time for some lessons and a driver fitting.

More to come....

Just posted my numbers for this week on the "Testers Progress Worksheet". Not quite the progress I was expecting. I've got to figure out what the best time of day will work. So far I've been doing the protocols at the end of the day - after home projects since SuperSpeed is elective and the home projects are must do's. My wife has actually made slightly more progress than I did this week. Of course she didn't have to powerwash the deck, patio and drive, mow the lawn, replant some trees.........yada,  yada, yada, I know it sounds like I'm whining.. Where's that violin emoji when you need it.

Week 2 is up on my YouTube Channel. Really excited with where this is going and looking forward to the continued adventure.

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCQtWpEpJxdNXrqUwgtq8CZQ

My top speed this past week was 95 MPH in session 1 , this last session I topped out at 94 mph.

I started in the 80 mph range and I have seen my "normal" speed sitting in the 86-89 range.

Any of those who have been doing for a while take any weeks off or have a lesser workout? I was supposed to give it a go today and was just so sore from the week I couldnt bring myself to get a full session in.

I would either recommend taking a week off, or just doing one stage 1 session sometime during the week. The most important thing is to take care of yourself and try to stay free from injury. I don't believe missing a week will hurt your gains, it's once you go for an extended time without training that can hurt your speed. I hope you get to feeling better soon!

I spoke with Kyle through email. He wants me to stick to the schedule and finish out the week 2 sessions this week. So looks like I’ll be a week behind the majority of the group, but I’m happy to be swinging again. I still wake up in the morning with some back tightness, but I’ve been able to move throughout the day with minimal issues. I’ve been stretching more throughout the day (something I neglect, don’t we often fail to practice what we preach...).

Curious if any testers from 2018 or 2020 have measured their actual driver weight vs. actual weight of the 'red stick'. I'm using the 'senior' sticks given my slower SS, however, my actual driver weight is about 50g. heavier than the 'blue 'stick'  Kyle, who by the way is very responsive, suggested changing out the grip to add a bit of extra weight. I was also thinking of adding lead weight to take it to the 110%. Your thoughts?

@Kenny B had the same experience with his sticks and would be tho guy to go to for this one. I have the same issue now with my new driver, but when we started the protocols everything lined up well as I was using a TaylorMade Burner Superfast that weighed only 279 grams.

That's quite a difference. My 410 is about 350g and that's with a 65g shaft and MCC+4 grip. I wonder if I'm not getting the result of using a heavier stick? Thx for the quick reply . @Kenny B your thoughts?

Oh and BTW, I love my 410 driver so not interested in changing it out.

I cant weigh it out in grams but via good ol oz meat scale everything came out to, green stick 20% lighter, blue 9% lighter, red 4% heavier. This is all compared to my driver which is a little heavier then the average driver.

That's quite a difference. My 410 is about 350g and that's with a 65g shaft and MCC+4 grip. I wonder if I'm not getting the result of using a heavier stick? Thx for the quick reply . @Kenny B your thoughts?

Oh and BTW, I love the driver so not interested in changing it out.

I think you'll see results, even after upgrading drivers I had an overall gain of 7.5 mph and hit some of the longest bombs of my life. The results of my first protocols were not what I expected and I bemoaned that result profusely. I'm still rocking the senior sticks and while I haven't been able to measure speed due to our driving range being closed due to storm damage, I'm seeing them on the course. Well, when I make solid contact, that is. You'll definitely see speed gains, I have faith in you!

I'm afraid of changing out my 410 SFT driver. It's the straightest stick I've ever owned. I'm even afraid to change the loft settings on it. 😂 My current GHIN stats show I hit the fairway 73% of the time and generally it's right down the middle. Any misses are generally draws - which works for me because our course favors right handed players.
