Small(ish) SUV for 4 golfers

Recommended Posts

My Ford Fusion is pushing 10 years old and will likely be replaced soon.  I can fit 4 cart bags in the trunk with some Tetris-like moves but often some clubs ride inside the car (back window ledge).

Any recommendations for sedan or small(ish) SUV that will accommodate 4 golfers and bags easily?  Thinking no larger than a Ford Edge.  Open to all brands under $35,000 fully equipped.

Thanks.

Tim

If you are going on golf trips and luggage is required I would not go smaller than the Edge. When I go car shopping I bring a golf bag with a driver in it. I had several car salesmen look at me like I'm crazy and a few that were golfers that completely understood. If it didn't fit easily I turned down the deal. I would reccomend going to a place like Carmax and try the fit on many different models.

My Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited X is perfect for a foursome and will still fit in the garage!

Thanks, Tom.  Always shop with a bag in my trunk -- several brands lost sales when bag wouldn't fit.

You could look at an Outback. Larger cargo area than the Forester and should fit 4 cart bags with no worries.

I have a 2018 edge.  If it's a road trip for four golfers it might be stretching it, to get luggage and the clubs in there, I'm sure you could, but you'd probably end up having to take the cargo cover out for sure and end up blocing your view out the back.

Ive only had mine on  solo  golf trips, with my bag and a duffle, another persons would have fit easily but a 3rd and fourth see the above comments.  AS for passenger comfort I think it would be fine as long as the other three guys aren't all 6'6" 🙂

I'm 6'4" and feel comfortable driving it.

I broke down and bought my first PU Truck. It is a crew cab and has crazy amount of room. Four big dudes fit comfortable and the rear seats recline ala an airline seat. I put a top of the line bed cover on and I could literally load the bed with bags if I needed to. IMG_2996.JPG

I am actually looking at the RAM right now.  Is that a 2019 or 2020?  How do you like it?  How long have you had it?

A small or full-size pickup works well and usually have good deals right now other than Tacoma which is a high demand pickup.

SUV wise rav4, whatever Hyundai has and a base config or first package up explorer would be my 3 go to. Jeep Wrangler works if you stack bags.

I’ve only had it about a month. It’s a 2020. They need to move inventory so pretty good deals are to be had. Right now there is not much I don’t like about it. I opted for the multi function tailgate and I’m loving the option. I also added a spray on bed liner then purchased a cover for the bed. Feel free to ask questions. I’m an open book.
