Play the best putter that fits your stroke and gives you the best results.  Excellent putters in all price ranges; crap ones too.  Don't choose based solely on price.

I'm not sure what your experience with putters is, but don't get drawn into the lure of the expensive/flashy putter.  I have expensive putters sitting on the sidelines, and I have the most perfectly balanced/weighted cheap putter that I keep coming back to.  As Kenny B said, you need to take the time to understand the putter that best fits your stroke on the greens.  You also want something that inspires confidence and gives you the feel that you're looking for. That will narrow down the selection process for you in what can be one of the most overwhelming decisions that the game has to offer.

I think there is a middle ground out there based on your financial position and performance. When I was being fit for a putter, I was between an Odyssey and PXG. The PXG was performing ever so slightly better but even the fitter told me that wasn't worth the extra $200. Ended up with the Odyssey and couldn't be happier
