Modus Tour 105 x

Recommended Posts

I just bought some MP20 with Modus Tour 105 X flex. I have been playing KBS Tour 120 S. Does anyone have experience how a lighter shaft with x flex compares to a heavier shaft that is stiff flex?

Does anybody have any feed back on these?

I have not been able to hit them because courses are closed.

It’s a lot more than just weight and flex. The modus 105 is a different profile than the 120.

Both are good shafts but for some that much drop in weight could be an issue in feel, club face control and possible launch.

This is true just look at the EI curves.  The midsection of the 120 is much stiffer.

Would that mean that the 105 shaft would be easier to load than the 120 shaft?

Flex=flex and weight=weight. Try not to confuse the two.

Flex is how you load with either transition or speed.

Weight is timing and control to maximize consistency of delivery.

Also x and s flexes are not consistent from one manufacturer to the next. It doesn't matter what it says if it works.

A lot of times, lighter and stiffer are used to offset the effects of going longer. Longer shafts increase swingweight so a lighter shaft offsets that. Plus, longer makes the club play softer than stated by 1/4 or 1/2 a flex.

The Modus 105 in X flex is actually 112 grams. Not as big a weight difference as you might assume.

105x played slightly softer and lighter to me than the CTaper Lite 115x I’m using now. It’s a very smooth shaft and it didn’t feel like it lost control if I tried to step on one.
