PXG Driver...Deal too good to pass up?

I agree about the Gen 2 driver. It is by far the best feeling and sounding driver I have hit. The distance and dispersion are exceptional as well. After 1 round with it the only driver I would replace it with would be the Proto and only if I got an amazing deal on it. I can’t believe I waited so long to try it. TrueGolfFit was right in the money for me with this as #1.

Crazy thing is I was kinda skeptical of PXG, and they weren't really on my radar. Then this sale started and here it's the only way to get a true custom fitting. So I warmed up the the idea and they have impressed me.

I went through a fitting at PxG last year for the Gen 2 driver.  It was neck and neck with the G410+ I Had.   So I definitely didn't see it being worth the $595 for basically the same numbers But

The fitting aspect helps. I don’t think there is really that big of a difference in quality among the OEM’s. It’s more of a matter of what fits you best.  I had the 0811X Gen 1 and it produced to

I just purchased a used Gen 2 0811x head to try to curb my constant thinking about the Proto X. This was the #1 option when I went through the TrueGolfFit last year but never thought I would drop th

Was looking for a driver and even did a fitting at Club Champion.  Wasn't the best experience.  Although, I was fit almost 3 years ago at a different store and also was very unimpressed.  Saw PXG was offering the Gen2 for $295 and decided to look into it.  I was able to get a fitting last Thursday.  The fitting was well done, the comparison to the last two was night and day.  One of the big differences between the online fitting vs live is that he had many more shafts to review, and they were almost all no charge.  I was fit into an Adila NV Green NXT 65-S, 2nd place was the Tensei Orange ($125 upcharge).  As this is a low launch/low spin shaft he moved me to the 10.5 head of the 0811X Gen 2.  While my distance improvement was not drastic, 0-5 yards when I hit them both clean, where the big difference was in miss hits.  I was not hitting the ball well at the fitting so the dispersion was great for a deciding factor.  With the NV and the X head I had a one way miss, left, of about 10-15 yards with a distance loss of around 10 carry and 15 total (on 5 good hits averaged 258 carry 282 total).  My current driver (DVD 10.5 Adila Rouge 125 6.0) on good hits is about a 255 carry 275-280 total.  But, my miss is both ways 25 yds left or 10 yds right with 25 yards loss to carry and 30 to total.  Did I get the massive distance bump, nope.  Did I see a massive improvement on miss hits, yeah.  And since I don't play as much as I would like I might hit it on the screws every other drive at best the difference is more than enough to have a meaningful impact on my game.

If you struggle with too much spin the 0811X Gen 2 was great with the 3 tungsten plugs up front.  I dropped to 1800-2000 rpm for clean hits and 2600-2900 for miss hits.  My current sits 2600-2800 on clean hits and nearly 4000 on miss hits.

I went to the Gen 2 XF that is lofted down and over 72 holes this weekend I missed 5 fairways. The rest of my game stinks right now but I am driving it more accurately than I have in my life.

Yeah I can't imagine the Proto being better. The X is incredibly low spin. I have a 10.5* head and went up in loft to the little + and it is still spinning less than any of my previous drivers. The only one that was close was the Epic Flash Sub Zero. I can't judge it by my last 2.5 rounds as something happened Saturday night when we went back out for a quick 9. I completely lost my swing for every club but Saturday morning it was a dream.

I am sure most have you already have , but check out one of the more recent txg videos.     Pxg Proto vs gen2.  It has me intrigued.   I really liked the gen2.   Maybe this Proto/gen3 is even better.  Best part is the Proto driver is on sale right now too

Have a fitting booked for Saturday to hit the xf. Assuming everything goes well I plan to order one, but I do have to say that $30 shipping is kind of disappointing.  Still going to be a good deal but every other golf company offers free shipping so $30/item is steep, especially since UPS is like $8 at their volume.

I went for the deal as well, only downside is the 3 week assembly delay, I can't wait for mine to get delivered!

I went with the 0811XF Gen 2, based on the MGS CG/MOI report it occupies a unique spot in the CG and forgiveness charts that only the ping gmax, and Cobra speedzone xtreme w the tour length weight can match. I'm fighting the hooks right now and based on a video from the TXG guys I'm hoping the max forgiveness can help stabilize the head. When I saw I could get the PXG new w hzrdus smoke yellow cheaper than either the ping or cobra, it was a no brainer!

Went in for my fitting and ended up purchasing the XF with a stiff smoke yellow shaft. Kind of bummed that it will take 5 weeks, but I guess that is the state of things with the sale creating a huge back log.

Interesting that not everything matches up on the website vs. in the store. I was able to get the CP2 Pro grip at no upcharge where as it was not even available on the website in standard size. Also a ton more shaft options available. They also apparently offer free shipping to the store which I took advantage of because the woman told me shipping was $60!!  The website only charges $30.  The store is a solid 35 min drive for me, but there was no way I was paying an extra 20% of the driver cost to have it shipped to my door.

I feel like PXG may be in way over their heads with the influx of orders they've been getting. I've noticed it's started to affect their customer service. They've repurposed many of their mobile fitters all over the country to answer phones on their customer service lines.

I went in and got fitted at the PXG HQ in Scottsdale in April. I ordered the XF 4-PW, 19 Hybrid, 3 wood and XF driver from them.

I'm now on my 5th week of waiting since submitting my order in and they haven't started the build yet! My estimated production date has been pushed back twice on the online tracker and no one over the phone has been able to even give me an estimate on when they will start. Best I've heard is maybe I'll get them around mid June.

Anyone else experiencing crazy delays on their orders? When I first went in I was told 3 weeks and now it's looking like it could easily exceed 8 weeks!

You might be right about being a bit over their head. At least definitely feeling a pinch. It took a month to get my driver (which actually worked to my advantage since I was originally just going to get a 2 wood). I was all excited because I heard about the PXG packaging but it just came in a regular cardboard box.IMG_0398.JPG

They charged $30 to throw it in a cardboard box. That's messed up.

I guess this is some troubling news. Right now my driver is scheduled for build on 6/19 which like I said is a bummer, but it's also near the end of my limit for waiting. I liked the club, but I'm not keen on missing half of the season waiting for my new driver no matter how good the price is. If mine gets pushed to mid July I'll probably be looking to cancel.

Also, for what it is worth, they extended the pricing deal through the end of June so the orders probably aren't going to slow down.

Wow! That's the first I heard of them shipping out their clubs in plain cardboard boxes.

The situation must be worse than I first assumed over at PXG. Spent over $2K with them and can't even get a call back from them.

First post, have been a lurker for quite a while.  i ordered my PXG on 4-26.  Got it 5-30. i live 4 hours from Minneapolis so fitting wasn't a good option.  I went  with their recommendation. My club came in a plain cardboard box.  Worst new club package I've ever received.  My son ordered the same day, his came in the same box, but his wasn't even put together!  Now about the club, neither of us is very happy about it.  I have a 410 + that I was very happy with but for the price we thought we would give the PXG a try.  I have yet to hit a shot with it that feels like I hit it on the screws.  We bought the 0811 and my son says the same thing.  I called them and told them not very happy with the club and they said they are going to have a fitter call me to see if I can meet somewhere for a fitting because there is simply no way I'm going to the Twin Cities right now.  I guess we'll see how it turns out.  i have the Riptide blue regular shaft, hopefully a different shaft will wake it up.  Don't take this as a bash i don't intend it that way but I would get  fit for it before ordering unless you are sure what you are ordering.

I contacted them and they offered refund on shipping or choice of two accessories or hats. I chose a hat and towel. So at least they’re showing that care.

For those that are having the delays, it took a month for mine to get built. The shipping was fast (not packed correctly). It was set to standard, but I just texted my local fitter and he gave me my specs and I made the adjustments, not a big deal to me, I like tinkering anyway.

So it seems like between Covid and the sale they kinda got put in a tough spot. I got a great performing club at a great price, and the inconveniences are being taken care of to my satisfaction. I am not at turned off from PXG, just seems like that got caught in a bad spot and will giveth the benefit of the doubt this time.

Great to hear that they were at least willing to hear you out and offer some accessories to make up for the lousy packaging.

I'm now sitting at about week 6 with no update and their online tracking tool says my build is estimated to start on 5/15/20... I do hope that they're able to get my clubs out soon. I was very happy with the fitting and am looking forward the clubs themselves but am not sure I would have pulled the trigger knowing the delay would have been as long as it has been already.

I opted to pick it up at their HQ in Scottsdale so am curious what packaging they'll be providing when that day finally comes.

I'm also picking mine up at the local store. My guess is that if it gets shipped in the traditional PXG box, that is what I'm going to get when I pick it up, but if it gets shipped in a cardboard box, they will probably hand me my club with the headcover on and the tool separately. They did seem very customer focused when I was in the store and I'm thinking they would be embarrassed to hand me a generic cardboard box like the one pictured above. Certainly would not be the "premium experience/look" they are going for if other customers saw me walking out with an ugly brown box.
