Bridgestone B-RXS 2020 ... Again

Recommended Posts

... The RX series has never worked well for me. I played with a Bridgestone Rep last year and he talked me into trying the "new" RX ... again ... and it just did not spin enough for me around the greens. I ended up giving the rest of the dozen away. So now Bridgestone has released the 2020 B-RXS that is being played by Couples on the Champions Tour. I find it hard to believe Freddie would play a ball that doesn't spin a ton around the green.

... I love the TP5x that produces low spin with mid-long irons as well as woods but spins plenty green side. Best of both worlds for me but at 68 I am not getting longer off the tee. If the RXS can compete with the TP5x off mid/long irons adding a little more distance AND spin equally around the green, I would love to give them another try. But since every version has not provided the kind of spin around the green that I like, I am not gonna buy another dozen just to give them away. I have 12 dozen TP5x that I planned on playing in Phoenix over the winter where balls get chewed up in the desert, but I never made it out there. They should last me well into winter if I get to Phoenix next year so the last thing I need is more golf balls.

...  That said, I am hoping some of you might have tried the new 2020 B-RXS and have comments on performance, especially it's green side spin.

The "s" versions of their balls definitely spin more for me. Hit up their marketing dudes and ask for a 2-ball sample pack, they're really cool and will probably give you one -- even without submitting a v-fit video.

... Thanks. Spins more green side with aggressive pitches and chips?

Yep! I lack any sort of finesse, it's the only way I know how to chip!

Chisag, if you like the tp5x you'd probably like the BXS. Will give you want you want off the longer clubs while biting on aggressive chips and pitches. It's exactly why Tiger designed/Games is. He is super aggressive in his short game and wants the extra spin without sacrificing distance.

BXS is a little shorter than the BX off the tee due to softer compression.

I like the BX. Just a tad firmer around the greens with every bit of control. Never noticed a difference in greenside spin by XS spun more on the irons which I didn't need

... I am very happy with the TP5x but as age is creeping up on me having just turned 67,  I want to make sure I am not leaving any yards on the tee box. 5+ yds would be nice but anything under that would just be a lateral move and with 12 dozen TP5x in stock, I don't need anymore balls. But when the TP5x run out I will definitely try the B-XS. Thanks jlukes.
