What us everyone’s Most inconsistent golf shot

For me there is the dreaded chip shot from 40-60 yards. I will hit a beautiful drive down the middle and will be 60 out and my buddy will be like here comes a double. And sure enough I’ll chuck the first chip 5 yards. Blade the second chip over the green. Finally get on and be so in my head that I miss the 2 foot putt. Does anyone else have a struggle like mine?

There was a time when the 50-60 yard shot was no good for me. I didn't hit it bad, I just misjudged the distance. I just stopped leaving myself with that distance until I was comfortable hitting it. Now the only real inconsistent shot I have is the low check shot that you just nip off the ground.

Anything inside 75 yards, at times I'll hit a beautiful shot dead stop by the flag, other times it will be a towering 175 yard shot most of the time it will be a ground ball that rolls forever the sand wedge "stinger"

My most inconsistent golf shot is trying to go for the green in two on par 5’s. I can hit a drive normally around 275-285 carry, so I get in my head, “man it would be awesome, to get on the green and have a chance at eagle.” That rarely happens...I either try to muscle my 4 iron or get out my 3/5 wood and place the shot. My problem is I can’t hit my 3/5 wood consistently (hand me down, will eventually get fit for y’all next purchase), but I trick myself into thinking I can.
 

Lately, I’ve really been focusing on laying up to 75-100 yards and in, but my no laying up mindset always creeps into my mind.

Chip shots near the green and pitch shots from 30 yards and in. Wish I could practice more but courses rarely have any dedicated areas to such shots.

Of the shots played on every hole, I get in trouble I with my driver more than irons or putting.

However, I’m more inconsistent out of greenside traps. I almost always get out in one shot - but if I’m within 8 feet of the hole, it’s mostly luck. And at my new regular course, the traps are always wet/damp sand, which makes getting out even less predictable. I can’t remember the last soft sand lie I’ve had, I’m afraid I’m going to forget how to play out of dry sand...

I never practice 60* flop shots either, so that’s a crap shoot when I’m forced to do it (not often).

The dreaded 60 ft putt for eagle.  I RARELY make those.  haha.  In all seriousness, I would say the 60yd bunker shot.  We have a few places on my course where you can find yourself in them.  I never practice this shot so obviously it would be an area of weakness.  I will also mention, at my course, not all bunkers are created equal.  Some have TONS of sand in them while others have a very thin amount of sand.  It is so frustrating as a golfer.  Fill all bunkers with the same type and amount of sand.

The last half dozen years it would be the 3 wood off the fairway. I took it out of the bag and only play a 5 wood which I hit beautifully. Still occasionally put the 3 wood back in and then after the round take it back out. I just don't have the SS  to hit this club consistently anymore.

Driver for sure.  With that being said, I focus on my second shot.  I feel it's one of the most important shots because it can make a bad driver shot not bad or waste a good driver shot and get a bogey or double bogey for the hole.

You have tried hybrids and irons as well? The past year I started to put the driver away if it was one of those rounds. My go to is 4 iron or 2 hybrid

I start off with four iron on the first tee or five wood depending on the course to avoid the same situation of a miss with the driver

Lob wedge. It either goes 10 yards or 50. Nothing in between. I still have it in my bag, but never use it. Probably should go and practice with it to understand what I'm doing wrong.
