cciciora13
Do you golf after rain? If so how much rain is too much? If not, why? I love golf and a wet course has never really bothered me but it might to some people. Its also supposed to rain 2 inches today and I am scheduled to play tomorrow and it got me thinking. Jwhite86
I'll play in any conditions. 2 summers ago there were basically lakes guarding every green on the course a day or two after a ton of rain. juspoole
I'll play golf nearly anytime I get the opportunity. I will say that I will not play a nicer, ie more expensive, course when conditions are not as nice. If I'm scheduling further out, I check the forecast more closely than I used to as normally I'm not playing all that much so I choose more carefully. This year, I've been lucky and have been able to play several 9 hole rounds during lunch. DiscipleofPenick
It gets old slapping a ball through mud and calling it golf. A summer rain isn't anything, but these spring time 3-days-straight rains take all the fun out of it. I hesitated making a tee time for Saturday because of thunderstorms tonight and all day tomorrow. Tom the Golf Nut
The area in North East TN where I am has a lot of clay in the soil. Very poor drainage. Sand traps turn into ponds. Even a fairway shot into the green can leave you with red clay stains on your clothes. I prefer to wait a day after a soaking rain if I'm playing a local course. DaveP043
As long as I'm not in danger of having water coming over the tops of my shoes, I'm willing to play. I'm not crazy about plugged drives, no roll, mud splashing on normal iron shots, and all the rest that comes with a wet golf course, but I'm not crazy about staying home either. As for play while its raining, that decision is also influenced by temperature and wind. A light rain on a summer day is fine, wind-driven cold rain in early March is a no-go. Pre-paid vacation golf I'm going to play in almost every case, regardless of rain or wind or whatever. That's why I always take 2 pairs of waterproof shoes on holiday, one pair can be drying while I'm playing in the other. When it rains, it's usually for 30 minutes a couple of times a month, except in the summer when temps are over 100º. Depends on what side of the Cascade Mountains you live on. We average 7 inches of rain a year. It's wetter every morning after the irrigation system runs all night then after a rainstorm. If it's raining, I just wait it out. Wondergiulio
Actually i live in NY and courses here are so busy... a smart way to navigate thru this is really become a forecast expert and hit the course right before rain is going to end. Most of the times it leaves me with a very uncrowded course and maybe the first couple of holes under the rain... but well worth it... PMookie
After it rains here, it takes forever for the courses to drain because they’re so flat. As a result, we get TONS of plugged balls. I don’t enjoy a wet course by any means, but I like to play after a quick Louisiana rain shower in the summer. The course softens a tad, but doesn’t get soaked. Temps can drop a bit too, which is the best part.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro Quote Driver: Ping G430 Max 9*, Ping Tour 70X Fairway: Ping G425 15*, Ping Tour 70X Hybrid: Ping G425 22*, Ping Tour 80X Irons: Ping i230 4-GW, TT DG X100 Wedges: SMS 50D/54V/58DModus 130 stiff, +1” Putter: EAS 1.0 Ball: Titleist 2023 AVX Link to comment
