That might be the case. When I made the order, I got the confirmation and noticed that all the grips were on backorder. GP tour velvets.. WTF?! I requested them to be uninstalled and would swap them for the GP microsuedes at PGATSS.

Well a phone call sorted that out. They were able to switch the TV's for the Microsuedes and put the order back on track.

That said, if you ask for them to be sent separately, you'll likely have to pay double shipping.

That's what I was figuring I was going to call and ask about it just to see if the wedge shaft was the hold up.

The M890 arrived yesterday.  Enough chit chat, let's get to the pics... The Golfworks team did a great job of building the club.  I did get it built to 42" with the LL flex shaft.  Longer t

It's too bad they don't have a matching ball marker. That would be a fanboy's "must-have".

TS 1's will be here tomorrow! Should be here late morning and I'll hop on over to PGATSS to have them gripped up. I have a very specific taping configuration.

I'll be going back after work to get some LM stats and gapping #'s. I might even do some comparisons with an OEM model with similar tech for funzies.

So a little setback with the irons but not a major issue. PGATSS was pretty backed up and couldn't get to my grips. That's OK though because my usual guy wasn't in anyway and he knows my setup.

I did however glue up the 50* so I'll be able to take that in tonight hopefully for some LM work.

I did have a chance to look over the TM P790 and P770 yesterday. The P790 top line is noticeably thicker with substantial offset so I don't think it will be a competing model. The P770 really seems to be similar in top line and sole width, but maybe a little shorter in blade length. The specs are also very similar as you can see below. I'm thinking about doing a brief comparison with the P770. Not because the TS-1 is a copy in any way, but it shares similar construction and tech characteristics and if it were being sold in a major retailer, it would definitely be considered a direct competitor. Additionally, and I find this suiting, is that the TM P770 is definitely a club I'd be interested in if money were no object.. Or would I? I'll try to put together a P770 7i with the same specs. 1* Upright and +1/2". Same or similar shaft, etc.

The comparison may not happen immediately but I would definitely like to do it for funsies.

So I took these out for their first spin today.

I'm happy to report that these were perfectly a plug and play experience! +1/4" and 1° upright was the perfect formula.

Below is my score card from the round. It's just an exec so not a lot of long yardage shots but a few more par 3's ranging from 130 to 200 yds.

I will say that these clubs are a true work of art and craftsmanship. Turf interaction is flawless. Look at address is absolutely perfect to my eye. With the tungsten in the toe, turning over and squaring up the club is effortless and helps in finding the center of the face.

Feeling.. oh boy. With a decent urethane ball like the Srixon Z star, I'll go right on and say it. These are some of the best feeling and sounding clubs I've EVER hit! You could pick the nicest, most expensive, best feeling, best playing model from any OEM, and these would out class most.

The lofts aren't stupid strong. Example: 7i is 32° and so on. Yardages were about +10 from my usual so that will take some getting used to. The flight with the DG 105 shafts is high-ish but piercing and very controllable. No balloons at all. Spin is right where you'd want it to be and even a little higher than you'd expect with the lofts. Every green landed, the divot was within 2 feet from the ball..

Shot shaping: these really shine when they're needed. I'm not a huge shot shaper but am able to when the opportunity requires. I had a few really effective draws and fades that were executed with ease. One shot in particular, I had to punch low under some tree branches and around the base of the tree with the 5i. I needed put about 100° angle and run the ball up to the green. Had the shape not worked out, I would have shot right at the club house. The only thing that I did wrong was give it too much grease so it ran right through the middle of the green and off the back by about 5'.

After today's round, I'll have absolutely no reservations putting my other 2 sets up for sale as my expectations were blown to the moon with these babies.

Yeah... I play Maltby in my irons.   I am from the other side of the world and deep south of you, but I have visited Chandler twice in two years.  Hung around Seville and played plenty of rounds there - small world huh!

KE4 Tour 2/3

DBM 4-G    about 7yo.   PW has been benched and bent others around to fill gaps neatly.  G-48, 9-43, 8-38, 7-34, 6-30,5-26, 4-23

M Series 54/58

I have got in the back shed, Tricept Wedges, and trouble out 3W/4W/5W/2H, and formerly had a set of MPC irons.

all with Nunchuk shafts, gripmaster leather grips, all MOI matched.

Well first off, welcome to the forum! You'll soon come to find that the folks on here become distant brothers, cousins, and family in no time.

Yeah the DBMs are fantastic clubs! I played them for a few years. I just recently replaced the DBMs with the TS-1s and couldn't be happier with the result.

The great thing about Maltby, besides being wonderful clubs, is that they're great conversation starters. They don't look like anything familiar because they're not copies of any brand. But they definitely inspire intrigue because they look like something people should be familiar with.

True, i lost count of the times somes asked me if mine are some boutique japanese clubs, and everyone i met in PHX is playing PXG or Ping - so its good to see a contrarian from there.

I wont be changing my DBMs anytime soon - the black just doesnt wear out, and they dont ding up.

So while I don't currently have the KE4 Tour H in my bag, I did play it for a couple of seasons and it was as good as they come. I'm always going back and forth from Hybrids, to UDI's, to just butter knife punishing 3 irons. Currently my game's the strongest that it's been so I'm currently brandishing the set 3i from the TS-1. Well last season I let my dad "borrow" my KE4 Tour 3h while I was in a UDI phase. He loves the thing so much that I just don't have the heart to ask for it back.

All that aside though, if hybrids are your jam, the KE4 should check all the boxes. Now let me preface, that mine is from a couple of years ago so they've made some subtle changes but I don't think they should be drastically different. I'd say it's on the smaller side of hybrid profiles but not too small. The actual shape is probably my favorite of any hybrid that I've picked up. Profile and face height is just right in that sweet spot of what a hybrid should be. I got mine with the Maltby hybrid shaft and quite honestly, if I ordered another, I wouldn't do it any differently. The Maltby shaft is extremely smooth and just effortless to launch the ball into the air. The sounds is more of a higher pitch crack. Nothing tinny or metallic. The face seemed to be super juicy.. as in "on the juice", or "Hot". The ball just rockets off the face with lots of good feedback.

I know @tehuti is gaming the newer hybrid. Hopefully he'll chime in if I left anything out.

All I can say is I have tried several other hybrids and couldn’t hit them at all. The KE4 Tour TC is now one of my workhorse clubs. Prior to picking up it and the KE4 Tour+ 4 wood allI had was a Tour Edge 4 ironwood after my driver. That was a huge gap.

See that's where I'm at. I've tried my damnest to make this 5 wood work, but I think the hybrid at 17* is the way to go for me. Considering thenshaft options that I know I like that are available and we can keep it under 100 bones, I don't see any reason to say no.

Oh boy oh boy oh boy...

The 58° has a different sole than the 54° but it opens up nice I'm looking forward to hitting it. The 3i shaft felt good on the swings I took with it not whippy so I think I chose a good shaft we shall see when I hit it.

Is it me or does the profile look somewhat compact? Looks great!
