Trouble Out Plus 3 (13d) and 5 (17d) and 20d Hybrid

Tricept TO 4 (15d)   (same as trouble it twin rails just next model)

If anyone is keen,  we can talk about that.  these have been very popular and hard to find.  I just couldnt get them to go with my preferred shaft.  I still use the 20H but expect someone would prefer all of them.

So my young one has outgrown her second set of US Kids clubs in the last two years, and she's now to the point that she can Brooke Henderson it

with my wife's clubs (she never plays), except for the driver (an old RBZ 15*).  It's just way too long.  She can hit the heck out of it when she makes contact, but it's just a little bit too much for her to handle.  Rather than dropping $200 on USKG's "good" driver and having her outgrow it in 6 months, I'm thinking about getting her a Maltby M890.  Anyone here have any experience with that club? 

It'll probably be built to play around 42", so should I go a little softer than normal in the shaft flex, because cutting that much off the shaft will stiffen it up?

They sell heavier weights, so I can easily get the swingweight back up if it's too light.

If she is growing like a weed I wouldn't go too soft with that flex. Because I'm sure her SS is growing just as fast.
Go with the 14° head and the LL flex is she is even the least bit aggressive.

I realized that I didn't order my 58° in my normal lie and I was not hitting it well today. I was having a bad ball striking day but it was letting me down around the green which is abnormal for me. Time to get them bent 2° upright and hope that fixes it. The 54° took care of me around the green when I couldn't hit the 58 except the bunkers because it was super fluffy and I am no bueno is fluffy sand

The M890 arrived yesterday.  Enough chit chat, let's get to the pics...

The Golfworks team did a great job of building the club.  I did get it built to 42" with the LL flex shaft.  Longer than her old USKG driver, but a couple inches shorter than the A flex RBZ HL that her older sister used to use.  She had to choke all the way down to the end of the grip on that thing.  

My daughter was not feeling great yesterday, so we held off until today to go out and hit it.  She was really hitting it nicely, a good 15-20 yards longer than the USKG, about the same distance as the RBZ but with much more consistency.  I took her out on the course, and she was reaching some areas that she'd never gotten to off the tee before.  This is going to be fun.

Will do.  She has her first Operation 36 match of the fall season on Saturday.  She's been stuck on 150 yards for the last four rounds; she shot 38 the last two rounds.  She should be able to hit any green that's open in the front from that yardage.  I'm just wondering if she'll try to carry the front bunkers on a couple holes, now that they're in play.  Before she could hit driver and not reach them.

So... it's interesting.  She couldn't hit the ball much more than 120 with the old driver, so she'd bunt it up in front of every green and chip on.  Now she can easily reach greens with this, but several of these greens are really too small/narrow to accept a driver.  A swing change has also turned her fade/slice into a draw.  Between the two, she's now getting herself into trouble with some pretty decent swings.  She's probably going to need to dial it back.

So I finally got a chance to compare the TS-1 with the TM P770. It was just on the launch monitor at PGATSS. I was able to pair the P770 with the same shaft that I have in my TS-1's. That's the TT DG 105. Both 7 irons.

As you can see, the clubs don't look anything alike.. aesthetics, profile, shape, top line, sole.. even the grooves look different. This is just another nod to how Maltby really is its own company and in no way are trying to emulate any OEM.

The field sample is still somewhat limited but enough to get some decent comparison. I spent some time warming up with both clubs until I found a decent groove with both. Then I just hit 5 straight shots with each.

As for the specs, the TM 7i is weaker by just 1° @ 33° vs the TS-1 @ 32°. What I found interesting though was that the TS-1 had a higher peak height, quicker ball speed, and notably higher spin.

As for the overall profile, the top line is definitely thicker on the P770 but heel to toe is just a fraction longer on the TS-1. Sole width is very close but the P770 is also a little thicker on the bottom. Overall I would say that the TS-1 compares well to the P770 but may even sit right between it and the previous P760 in appearance.

So no doubt both clubs look great. But how do they feel, sound and perform? Well I am happy to report that the Maltby just flat out wiped the floor with the the TM. The P770 felt and sounded nice, but the TS-1 just really feel and sound superb. The feel of a well-struck ball is butter soft but very reactive and rewarding.

Also, between the 2, the TS-1 was more forgiving on mishits. Maybe due to the slightly longer blade?

Bottom line, if I had $1400 to spend on a set of custom premium irons, I just made $750 to pay for the rest of the year's golf.

A Trackman session with her coach confirmed our suspicions.  150 is the new count-on distance.  She just needs to trust the new ball-flight.  

For $137.34 built and shipped, I'd have a hard time not recommending this driver to any lower-speed player.  Her coach was pretty impressed with it as well, and she's on staff with Titleist.

The M Series + wedges are just brilliant in the variety of soles they offer. You can find just the right wedge if you swallow your pride and forget about Tour style designs.

I'm a digger and the courses are here generally pretty soft (clay that stays wet forever), so I'll be going with wide soles and bounce.  And I like a 50/54/58 setup.  The only thing I'm worrying about is that the mid-grind 54* (widest sole for that loft) has only 6* of bounce.  That seems low for a club I'll use out of the sand.  Does the wider sole make up for it?

Those have a much higher effective bounce. So you can almost throw out the factory bounce rating. In my setup I use 52 and 56. The 52 is the M+ Tour which is the narrowest but hardly a true tour wedge. Then the 56 is the mid with the much larger sole. As a digger they are near perfect for my game. Help with more bounce but still enough to be very versatile..

Good to know.  Honestly, these things are so cost effective, you can really afford to experiment with them.  They're basically half the price of a Vokey in the most expensive configuration I tried.

I buy new heads every year so my wedges are always fresh. Its so cheap.
