Middler
Sounds like MGS is going to once again recommend picking one ball and playing it for most of us. I don’t have any problem with that, I’ve played one ball brand/model for three years 95% of the time (occasionally I’ll treat myself to a sleeve of Pro V1’s or even play a found one IF it’s pristine). I know lots of guys who play found balls, anything that looks to be in decent condition. Or they buy refurbished balls any chance they get. The only new balls they play may be Christmas or Fathers Day gifts. So a poll before the 2020 ball study comes out? Quote 5. PICK ONE BALL AND PLAY IT We can’t emphasize this enough. After conducting this test, we’ve become firm believers in the idea that golfers should pick a ball and play it…exclusively. There’s going to be some manufacturing variance between individual balls of the same model, but it’s nothing compared to the performance differences between models. Golf is hard enough, so it makes sense to eliminate every variable you possibly can. Choose one ball, and play it every round and every shot. aerospace_ray 1 Quote Titleist TSR2 11° HZRDUS Red CB 50 6.0 w Lamkin UTx Midsize Titleist TSR2 16.5º HZRDUS Red 60 CB 6.0 & TSR2 21º HZRDUS Black 4G 70 6.0 w Lamkin UTx Midsize Mizuno JPX923 HMP 4-GW, T22 54.12WS, T22 58.04DC w Lamkin ST+2 Hybrid Midsize Evnroll EV5.3 Maxfli Tour & ProV1 Ping Pioneer - MGI Zip Navigator AT Payntr X 002 LE, Ecco Biom C4, Payntr X 001 F (Mesh)
Sox Fan
Almost always play, and only buy, Bridgestone Tour B RX balls. I will play the same ball for three or so rounds as long as the cover does not get trashed. Will occasionally play a different found urethane ball in perfect condition just for the heck of it. rforziati
I'm pretty new to golf and I've been trying to figure out which ball I like best. So, I've been playing mostly found balls or other people's cast offs. Now that I've narrowed it down to the two or three that I really want to use for some extended playing time I'm playing through the collected stash before I get down to playing only one specific ball. cjeffs12
After the ball buyers guide I have been really good about only playing new balls and staying with one brand. I have really enjoyed the Bridgestone Tour B XS, but due to no practice I decided to test out the Snell MTB-X, so like @cnosil sticking with the same characteristics. PMookie
Been playing Pro V1X, but bought XV to try again since it was 3-for-2, but I don’t like it as much as Pro V1X. MaxEntropy
My "go to" since the ball study has been the Z Star, but my wife bought me 2 dozen Oncore Elixers for Christmas, so I am giving them a go, too. I like them. They seem to be a little longer on full shots but not quite as much bite around the greens, as far as I can tell. If I happen to lose more than a sleeve in a round, I reach for the found ball pocket, which I typically limit to any tour-quality ball. Tom the Golf Nut
I typically play TaylorMade's current tour ball but I also play ProV1 as well. I am a member of a private club and everyone thinks they should be playing ProV1's regardless of their ability. Most are to proud to go look for the errant shots as well. Whenever I play, I walk off the course with at least 3 or 4 new ones ( OK, once hit. ) And I'm not a ball hunter either. They are just off the edge of the fairway and I pick them up if I notice one. I usually the first one off in the morning so I know I'm not picking up someone's ball that is in play that day. I never had to pay for a dozen but I have plenty. aerospace_ray 1 Quote Driver, TSi 1 S Flex 3 wood, Aerojet Max UST Helium Nanocore R Flex 5 wood, Aerojet Max UST Helium Nanocore R Flex 7 Wood, Aerojet Max UST Helium Nanocore R Flex 5 Hybrid King Tec MMT R Flex Irons, Tour UST Recoil 95 R Flex (6 - Gap) Wedges, Snakebite KBS Hi- Rev2.0 54* & 60* Agera 35" Ultralight 14-way Cart Bag

GregGarner
My top choice is Bridgestone Tour BXS. I love the flat ball flight off the tee, I hit them a mile, and greenside control is exactly what I want. I'm trying out some Z Star XVs right now, but they feel like rocks (especially off the putter) and I don't know that I can deal with the high launch. I'm already a high ball hitter... tehuti
Last year I decided to try a variety of different balls to see which ones I like. As a result, I have a pretty big stash of different balls that I am working through still, and I probably won't run out this year. So from round to round I switch up which ball I will use. My current favorite is the OnCore Avant55 followed by the Srixon Soft Feel, generally in yellow or green. Once I run out of the current supply I will probably stick to those two and maybe the Srixon Q Star if I can get a deal on those. aerospace_ray 1 Quote PXG 0211 12° driver w/Project X Cypher R flex shaft KE4 TC 16° 4 wood w/Kuro Kage Black 60g shaft KE4 TC HyWay 21° utilitywood w/Maltby MPF shaft KE4 TC 22° 4 hybrid w/UST Proforce V2 Black shaft KE4 TC 25° 5 hybrid w/Mitsubishi Tensei CK Blue shaft Lazrus 27° 6 hybrid w/Lazrus graphite shaft PXG 0211DC irons 7-PW w/Project X Cypher graphite shafts CBX2 50° wedge M-Series+ 56° wedge w/UST Recoil 660 graphite shaft Infinite Bean putter
